Wait a second... And I bet they're right. Lupa never complained. To the executives at Channel Awesome. She probably never asked the people at Channel Awesome to fire or do anything about Noah.
Instead, she wrote an multiparagraphed essay on why Spoony is a horrible person for saying a rape joke to one of his coworkers. A month after he already apologized.
See? No direct complaining for Noah's termination.
Hell thats all Tobacco companies ever did.
tobacco companies are an extreme example, both in terms of their situation were their products were killing people and their actions to try and resolve it.
for the record this will be my last post, not going to spend any more time it what really is a gossip and slander mill at this point, I was just getting frustrated with the amount of conjecture thrown around as fact and needed to blow off some steam, but not that that's done I'm going to go back to gaming.
I mean unless you want to come across that way.
FOR THE RECORD~! This will not be MY last post. Probably.
Well if you listen to say her recent review of I think it was in kiki's delivery service she talks a bit about being brought up. Stuff like not being able to watch things about witches on tv for example. I don't think its too far out there to think that some of her views have become more progressive over time.SaneAmongInsane said:Dude... totally just changed the way I look at JesuOtaku.
Like sure, she doesn't believe in it now (allegedly) but still...
Okay.SaneAmongInsane said:Not taking up arms for Spoony, but it seems hypocritical they'll fire Spoony but this Lupa-lass gets away scot-free with lighting his fuse.

Actually I think this is a more accurate versionAzaradel said:/vg/ has been monitoring the shitstorm for quite a while and there's been a few attempts at making some kind of summary of what's actually happened. This is pretty much as coherent as it gets atm:

>Spoony makes a bad joke about JesuOtaku, she's not amused but doesn't take it hard, Spoony realizes it was stupid and apologizes, JO accepts and nothing was lost.
>A month later, Lupa brings it up again, telling Spoony how she feels offended by it and he's scum, Spoony is perplexed but apologies to her as well anyways.
>Lupa isn't satisfied, she writes a huge blog post where she shits all over Spoony and spreads it around the web, plus she brings this up to Holly.
>Holly is the highest authority in TGWTG right now as Doug is on his honeymoon, and his brother is on a vacation, plus Holly is supposedly a rape victim so Spoony found himself suspended for 4 weeks, telling him he's forbid to insult fans and his cooworkers during this time.
>At this point Spoony takes it and barely contains his rage, he's yet to explode until he notices Lupa's blog spreading around the web.
>He proceed to switch on full irony as he wonders what do they want from him, should he cry blood, should he burn in hell forever, etc etc
>Lupa continues to poke at him while taking a neutral side on LordKat's live stream even complimenting Spoony's professionalism during cameos, Spoony starts to get drunk.
>A drunken Spoony lashes on everybody on twitter, at this point Lupa is starting to get some backlash as well so she fades out as Spoony destroy himself.
>Because of this he gets fired from TGWTG.
Some say is conspiracy, some say it's coincidence, it doesn't matter at this point, Spoony is officially off TGWTG and he's migrating his hompage to another server. From what I've seen, Anon seems to be pretty spot on.
There's been stray Twitter screencaps floating around but no-one seems bored enough to compile them yet.
Also, LordKat is supposedly in risk of being shut down because of his comments about wanting Noah to kill himself.
Joe has proven himself to be a pretty cool guy by shooting down assumptions of him never working with Noah again, saying that Noah is his friend and he thinks this "shit got ridiculous".
Because he has a mental disease, and Lupa doesnt.JimB said:Okay.SaneAmongInsane said:Not taking up arms for Spoony, but it seems hypocritical they'll fire Spoony but this Lupa-lass gets away scot-free with lighting his fuse.
Mr. Antwiler is a grown man. He can purchase tobacco, alcohol, and firearms; he can probably operate a motor vehicle; he can participate in the electoral process; he can be charged as an adult in criminal proceedings. He is supposed to be responsible for his own actions. I am among the biggest of Spoony fans--I will still visit his site and watch his reviews, and I will express no anger at him for his behavior, only a sadness and an earnest hope that he gets his mind healthy again and that he can repair the friendships he's lost--but neither my respect for his talent nor Ms. Pregler's comments somehow excuse him from his responsibility to be in control of himself.
Perhaps his mental illness is to blame here, and if so, I have nothing but sympathy for him; but his mental illness does not mean he isn't in violation of his terms of employment with Channel Awesome.
And he could have done the same to her, so please explain to me why she's the villain here for engaging in exactly the same behavior he did.SaneAmongInsane said:[Mr. Pregler] could have just blocked/unfollowed [Mr. Antwiler] and moved on.
That's a cop-out. I have a mental disease too. Nothing about it precludes me from being able to tell the difference between right and wrong; and so far as I am aware, Mr. Antwiler has no difficulty in that area either. He seems capable of understanding that his actions have consequences and that he is hurting the people who want to support him, and he doesn't seem to care because he gets more pleasure out of raging than out of reconciliation. God knows I get that--anger is a sweetly addictive drug, and the main reason I take such pleasure in Mr. Antwiler's reviews, to say nothing of more local talent like Mr. Croshaw--but at the end of the day, he is the only person capable of making his own decisions. It was his fingers at the keyboard when he started typing all his hatespam, attached to his hands, sprouting from his arms, and so on and so forth all the way back up to his brain.Karadalis said:Because he has a mental disease, and Lupa doesn't.
And what is your source for her medical history, exactly?Karadalis said:Is that so hard to understand that Spoony is sick while Lupa has absolutely nothing and is completely sane?
Please point out where I said or even implied that what she did is blameless. Where I take issue is with people who insist that she ought to be held to a different standard than he is. If it's fair to judge her for not walking away, then it's fair to judge him for not walking away.Karadalis said:Stop defending what she did.
You are the same person who feels like he can tell me what to do when it comes to talking about Ms. Pregler's actions, and the one who feels like he can tell Ms. Pregler what she should have done in this conflict.Karadalis said:This doesn't absolve Spoony since in my eyes he should have gone offline a long time before it all got out of hand, but who am I to tell him or anyone around him what to do?
Yay, rationality. I do think he is a bit less to blame for the situation than Alison. After all, Alison was stoking the fires when she was well aware of his mental state. However, Noah is responsible for his outbursts. Would he have made them without Alison's posts? Likely not, which is why I hold her to blame more than him. However, he is still responsible for the posts he made, and being punished over them is fair.JimB said:*EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, even if it isn't his disease driving him, I'd still offer him a hug and a night out. I still like the guy; I just get annoyed when people insist he's a helpless victim here and everyone who disagrees is out to get him because they're meanies.
Pretty much, yeah. I think people jumped to that conclusion because some of his late-night tweets started to seem even less coherent.Sutter Cane said:Actually I think this is a more accurate version
1. Spoony spends acts like a dick toward fans on twitter throughout his history
2. several of these dissatisfed fans send in complaints
3 Spoony makes a bad joke about JesuOtaku, she's not amused but doesn't take it hard, Spoony realizes it was stupid and apologizes, JO accepts and nothing was lost.
4. A month later, Lupa brings it up again, telling Spoony how she feels offended by it and he's scum, Spoony is perplexed but apologies to her as well anyways.
5. Lupa isn't satisfied, she writes a huge blog post where she shits all over Spoony and spreads it around the web
6. This further negative exposure causes more fans of lupa to send in complaints to tgwtg. Spoony finds himself suspended for 4 weeks
7. At this point Spoony takes it and barely contains his rage, he's yet to explode until he notices Lupa's blog spreading around the web.
8. He proceed to switch on full irony as he wonders what do they want from him, should he cry blood, should he burn in hell forever, etc etc
9. Lupa continues to poke at him while taking a neutral side on LordKat's live stream even complimenting Spoony's professionalism during cameos.
10. Spoony lashes on everybody on twitter, at this point Lupa is starting to get some backlash as well so she fades out as Spoony destroy himself.
11. Because of this he gets fired from TGWTG.
Its been pretty well established that Spoony had been getting complaints sent in from fans for some time before the incident,It doesn't surprise me. His general reaction to even the most gentle of constructive criticism is to tell everyone in the vicinity to go fuck themselves.
Ofc, most Channel Awesome members treat critics who just want to help them improve as trolls, so it's not like he's alone in being a giant ass. and that Lupa herself never complained to Holly,The statement issued by Channel Awesome is obvious damage control and I would say it's up for debate how much of it is actually true.
I can't really say I'd hold it against her even if she did complain to the higher-ups, though. Noah was effectively destroying himself and was acting like a complete fucktard to colleagues and fans alike. In fact, issuing a formal complaint about his behaviour would have been the more sensible thing to do, rather than confront him on Twitter, like she chose to do.and from what I can tell the part about spoony being drunk is pure speculation.
Do you have knowledge of Lupa's mental state that you want to share with the class? Do you know if she is of sounder mind that Spoony? Or are you assuming that she is in a better place mentally because it makes it easier to be mad at her?Karadalis said:Because he has a mental disease, and Lupa doesnt.
Is that so hard to understand that Spoony is sick while Lupa has absolutely nothing and is completly sane?
Stop defending what she did, she wabted the confrontation with someone that was highly depressive and knowing very well about that fact.
Theres no excuse here for Lupa.
This doesnt absolve Spoonysince in my eyes he should have gone offline a long time before it all got out of hand but who am i to tell him or anyone around him what to do.
Fact remains, Lupa is the healthy minded in this conflict. Not spoony.
I agree with every word of your post. And I, too, have been diagnosed with depression. It ain't fun, but I'm still in control of my actions.malestrithe said:Do you have knowledge of Lupa's mental state that you want to share with the class? Cuts both ways. Stop defending Spoony. Depression may explain his actions, but it does not excuse them. He is still an adult and is responsible for his actions.
I have clinical depression too and I did things I regretted when I was at my lowest. But I did them and I take responsibility for them.
Also, who are you to tell people to stop defending Alison? She may not be blameless, but people get to choose who they defend.
Because humans like drama and evidently enough of us cared enough about Tgwtg to be interested in their particular drama, much like others get invested in the personal lives of celebrities in gossip magazines or the big dramas of theatre that people went to see throughout the ages. The Human Torch said:I love the nostalgia critic and linkera, those two are the only ones on the thatguywiththeglasses website that I can stand, but I just can't comprimend that so many people are invested in this.
Everyone can claim he or she has a mental disease, the problem here is that it can go from mild to absolutely crippling, from what i have read from you, you sound more on the rational spectrum, but as with spoony, it showed that he isnt, at all. Not only that but it is well documented what sort of crazy shit he has gone through and how irrational he behaves at times.JimB said:Snip
I'm not sure what you mean by "punished," here, so it's possible I'm responding to something you don't actually mean, and if so, I apologize preemptively. That said, though, I think it's wrong to look at Mr. Antwiler's termination as punishment. He was causing negative press for his employer and harming their revenue, not to mention only putting out one review for every four to eight of his contemporaries, so the decision to terminate his employment ought to be viewed as an attempt to preserve the company, not to punish him.thebobmaster said:However, he is still responsible for the posts he made, and being punished over them is fair.
