No. The sun doesn't effect skin color. Genes and pigment do.

Inuit (read: Eskimo) peoples are darker than lily-white Europians. Inuit live farther north, in some cases have completely black winters, and are always covered in clothing.

Actually, white colors REFLECT heat, black ABSORBS heat, so your statement is entirely incorrect.

So you're blaming the sun, a non-being and thoughtless ball of burning hydrogen for slavery and the planned methodical murder of people by skin cancer?

It just exists and follows all it's chemical properties, fufilling no purpose but the purpose we give it.

How can the sun that provided and nurtured life as we know it also be intent on killing life?

Or, to be serious in the joke; it is inanimate (as far as we know), and isn't subject to criminal prosecution. It would be a weapon at best.

Totally unrelated, but can an African person get sun burnt? Or is that part of the reason why their skin color became black?
maybe i missunderstood you but, the reason people in hot countries have dark skin colour because trough evelution they have more ehh,
(dont know how its called in english... "melanine" perhaps?)

to protect them from the sun. =)

Black skin stands a far better chance against skin cancer and other such nasty sun-related grievances, especially prevalent in a place like Africa, so he was more or less correct.

(And no, a black person would not absorb more heat. It doesn't work like that.)

But on that thesis, you are basically saying no living being can exist without one single thing we need.
For the most part ya, most if not all need the sun to survive. Even if they do not directly need the sun, their food will most likely need the sun to survive too.

Also this isn't a matter of thesis, this is a matter of scientific fact. Stop trying to act like a philosophical wannabee.

This is the dumbest thread I have ever heard

BTW an even better example of this absolutely ridiculous argument would be heat stroke and skin cancer.

You just made an observation that things in the world are linked, good for you.

Time for my argument!

The ocean is a murderer, remember that Tsunami?

See, anyone can do it, it is just a waste of time.
We need to arrest the ocean, someone get me those ghostbusters absorbo-disks we can throw them in the ocean and save the world, then we throw the discs into the sun and that extinguishes it.BAM we did it.

And if THAT'S what you're talking about, then color has nothing to do with it.

OT: No, it's an object, not a person.
You realise that "white" people's skin became white, not that "black" people's skin became black, right? Humanity came into being in Africa...
Not true actually, a few millions years ago everyone's skin was still white, because it was all covered in fur. If you peel back the fur on any furry animal, it's pure white. Those who moved north and into colder climates did not adapt sun resistant skin like those closer to the equator. Those in the nordic areas actually have skin especially designed to absorb the suns rays to get vitamin D.

However, unless you're albino, all caucasians have darker skin than when they had fur. It's not black and white, it's albino, nordic, central european, east asian(including aboriginals of the Americas), southern eurupean, north african and arab, Indian, and central african. It's a great spectrum of skin colour. Also, jsut to be clear, I dont' actually know who's skin is darker, that's just a guess.

No, because.....

.....eh.....

.....bwa.....

.....this is one of the..... stupidest things I've read today this week. Besides, this isn't satire, this is a non sequitur reductio ad absurdum, if you want to throw Latin words around.

WOW. this is an interesting thread. but I would think you would blame the sun for heat or radiation related deaths. Racial discrimination is humanity's doing, not the sun's. The sun did not enslave people. People enslaved people.

Let's be clear, though, there are "murderers" all over the place, the sun is but one (rhyme unintentional). Glass, copper, water, gravity, rocks, electricity, even the food you eat has choked some poor soul to his or her doom when irresponsibly snarfed.

Seconded

OT: Ermm I suppose, but......well, go on then - imprison the Sun............. and watch as the Earth dies......... I suppose some people (or things) really do have immunity from prosecution
