The first time I got to take the helm of the Normandy in ME2. The music and the general feel of everything along with how pretty they made the galaxy and animations left me with a sense of speechlessness and awe. Also, the romance option with Tali. The way she acted reminded me of my ex...

***SPOILERS ABOUND HERE***

Marston's death at the end of Red Dead Redemption, well pretty much that whole mission you get a sense of overwhelming inevitability, and not in the same way as the ending of Halo Reach.

Also, the point where your Father dies in Fallout 3. That was a point that really made me take a step back as if to say 'holy crap'.

In Heavy Rain, first scene as Agent Nawwman Jayden. You investigate the body of one of the OK's victims. He's a little 10-year-old boy. There's even a little tiny tent around the body to keep the rain off it. You hear a lot about the OK's victims, but it's pretty sad to see one up close and know that he drowned to death (a pretty painful way to go) slowly, all alone and extremely scared.

I had been playing Farcry 2 for the first time awhile ago and was besties with Josip, he'd save my arse when I got in trouble, Give me helpful mission advice and secondary objectives, and was just an overall badarse.
We were inseperable and unstopable.

Then it all went wrong.

We had just finished a mission where I had to burn a greenhouse with Josip providing Air support in a duster, anyway everything was buisiness as usual, Josip got shot down, I had to go save him, same with every other mission.

When I arrived at Josips location I easily dispatched then enemies and saved him, he thanked me then promptly got shot to shit by a patrol out of freaking nowhere (turns out we were standing on a patrol respawn point).

No ammount of Morphine helped, Josip died in my arms.
I can't remember the last time I felt so empty.
I haven't played Farcry 2 since.
Yeah, I had a similar experience with the Israeli guy at the train ambush(optional part of a faction mission); I couldn't get there in time and when I did, no amount of morphine would save him; I ran out and ended up putting him out of his misery. I've lost companions since and I had before, but the way he died just seemed so tragic; we'd been buddies since the start of the game. Michelle Dachs dying was also pretty saddening; she got sniped and bled out; same problem as with the other guy; the morphine ran out. I really wish they'd let you carry them to a vehicle or something and tried to get them to safety rather than having to leave them there or finish them off if you couldn't revive them. Man those deaths were really draining...
The buddies in that game were just different; I really didn't like the depressing way that game ended though.

OT: When I met Liara in ME2 and found out what she was so angry about...

Basically, it's happened two times, both from things that have already been mentioned.

Once in the 2008 version of Prince of Persia, in the end. I was honestly completely surprised that I was affected that way (don't know if I actually started to cry, but it was close).

Also, the ending of Crisis Core. It really made me cry, though I tried to hide it as well as I could. I haven't finished FF VII (only played the beginning, never even getting to the second CD), but I know roughly how it goes for that part... Crisis Core really hit me.

Despite the reaction to Crisis Core being more 'extreme', I was less surprised (my brothers had completed it, and although they had not spoiled it I had gotten the impression that it was... special in some way).

Other than that I have rarely been affected by games, and although I REALLY liked the ending of Portal 2, it didn't hit me in the same way (also like the achievement you get (the name of it, that is :D)).

I'm going to blow your minds by saying Minecraft. That's right, the game with no narrative. Or does it? On multiplayer servers, it does. especially on anarchy servers. Let me explain.

3 months ago, I went on an expedition to a very far land where we planned to make a "high point" base for all the higher ups on the server. sadly, after we cleared an area, most of the expedition left. I was left alone, but had a new idea. Why not make a town that would be a town collective point? as in, a meeting place for towns? to do this would be amazing, as I would be making a gov't in an anarchy server. So I got building.

and, after 2 months of building, this was the result (no guarantee the photo will be up)

http://imageshack.us/f/220/unledju.jpg/

for 1 month, I had at most 5 towns, totally to about 50 people, and most of the server's populace. However, a great cloud descended on the building. the server added factions, making my timeless work an unfortunate tragedy. I had a sad day today, as today was the official closing off of the Sanctum, what we christened the building. I'll miss it, but perhaps it is a phoenix that will rise among the ashes. Or perhaps it is a mere tombstone representing humanity's valor, a strive to accomplish, and ultimately never achieve. Physically, I did not cry, but my soul cries tears for this sorrowful, yet still momentous, day.
That... friggin' sucks. xD Kind of makes me think about picking up Minecraft though.

...nah.

Well, it's getting better. We have a new server set up, so we're making a mystery/treasure hunt that will make reference to a clone we'll make, to make it more mysterious. As for the Minecwaft, it depends on your play style. I like the slow atmospheric gameplay of anarchy server, as you can walk around the area near spawn and see old ruins. ofc, this doesn't suit everyone. In fact, I tried to get the server to get rid of factions, but we had so many people who needed factions that it would be too outrageous. I like the game as well, and feel that anarchy servers are more a human nature simulator then an actual game. idk, getting the game is up to you, but I feel the game would be cheap even if it was worth 60 dollars.

First time I played through Infamous as a villain I had to force myself to make all the "wrong" decisions. Then by the time the game ended, I felt disappointed and ashamed at myself.

Especially after what Trish says before she dies.

The ending of FFXIII really got to me. I'm not sure why, but it did. I think it was just the relief of finally being done with such a frustrating game.

The whole mark meltzer thing in Bioshock 2 affected me incredibly strongly, especially when you process his fate and the fact you've killed him.

Also as cliché as it was the scene in GOW2 where dom reunites with his wife, that made me cry if anything for how it was played out before he sees the reality of her condition.

Seems like those 2 are fairly common

Ah, that got me as well. Mainly because of how much I hated him and wanted to kill him, but at the same time I didn't want to because he was helping me out. In the end I did. He sure sniveled a lot. Jerkwad.

FFX/FFX-2 both made me pretty emotional and I got attached. Another game which got me emotionally attached (especially to Sora) is Kingdom Hearts... it might have been 'cartoon-y' but I was hooked on that game as a kid.

The original Infamous

{/spoiler} When John tells Cole to get some sleep and it fast forwards to morning showing us that Cole spent the night at Trish's grave. {/spoiler}

Truly hard hitting stuff.

Are you sure you're not thinking of sinclair, you never actually talk to meltzer and his story is told entirely through audio logs.
