The original Assassins Creed end fight was alright compared to the 2nd game's. Do I need to go on?

It's a punch up with a fat bloke, at least Al Mualim tried

I kinda agree with you on this. Surely there's a way to bring a chapter/level to a conclusion in a way that doesn't necessarily mean big bad dude and a completely different style of play.

The BioWare games I've played have done pretty well, by having a somewhat more difficult encounter at the end of the chapters. As well as Fallout and Arcanum, where you can talk them out of it.

The worst I've come across has to be Final Fantasy IX.

Necron? Where the Hell did he come from? At least someone mentioned Ultemicia once in VIII.

Gruntilda in BK: N&B. I was having a lot of fun and expected an epic final boss. Unfortunaly for me, I had built a helicopter with refilling fuel and ammo, homing missiles, lasers, ect. Waaaay to easy.

I don't mind having to go through more enemies with better AI, but when I get to the antagonist I expect them to be human (unless they're not, obviously). We're never going to get more organic experiences if they just triple the guys health bar, but them in a mech with rockets (for no reason) and let you get on with it.

I've never once been excited about those types of boss fights - they just bring dread due to the fact I realise I've come this far and now I may never see the resolution to the story because the developers have cheated and changed the rules.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. He was pathetic compared to the other enemies!

Of the things that weren|t already mentioned, the last boss in Okami jumps into my mind. The difficulty wasn't realy noteworthy but then again recalling the target audience for the the game, i can see better how it was aimed. Then the design itself was kinda unimpressing, while the those shifting pattern were kinda well done, but at the end of the day it was just a giant orb/ball thingy.

Fable 2.

Seriously. This guy kills your sister and has made your life a living Hell and in the end you just shoot him in the face. No epic boss battle. Just shoot. And if you don't do it, one of your sidekicks will!
Yeah this pissed me off. I was so pumped up for an epic fight that would mean a thousand deaths in some epic place...then it told me to press a button and I won. So let down.

Half Life.

So I have to kill a giant floating baby? By leaping on stupid jumpy pads?
I hate any boss that changes the way the game works for a boss fight.. You know, where physics laws change, or its not in the same style as the rest of the game. For goodness sake, the whole point of having a boss is to test the skills you have acquired in the game to breaking point, not to test entirely different ones that have just randomly appeared. Also, those games where you just have to press x to win.

I normally expect Final Fantasy games to have extremley tough and challenging final bosses but the last boss of FFXIII was such a pushover it was unblievable.

Its been said but Gears 2. Push RT to win.

Jericho. I was one of the 3 people on earth who liked it, but the end boss was just so disappointing.

My apologies with the typo. Metroid 3 is one of my favourite shooters ever and the end boss(es) are absolutely fantastic.
Yes, they are. Metroid bosses have always been great in my book.

original fable and borderlands, the ONLY thing you need to do in either is stand there and attack, don't even need to move!!

Assassin's Creed 2. Where you
beat the pope to death
... while hilarious. Insanely boring for a "boss" fight.
"Holy" shit Was it boring!
That fight made me "cross"
"God" it sucked so much...
"Pope" I'm not giving anything away here...
