That has happened to me in every game i have played up to this point, from halo to TF2, from DOA to SF4, I seem to notice alot of people favoring a specific "best" class or weapon, but luckily, Unlike them, i found most options that are overlooked to be really good. Scout in Team fortress 2 is actually a really good class and can actually take down pyros with ease, and SFIV's Cammy has enough special moves to take up the screen and also she clips through many moves during her spinning knuckle, allowing her to bypass hadoukens and gain the upper hand. Also, if any of yall played Soul calibur 4. you can find that although kilik and misturugi are good characters, they have many useless moves, while characters like my main, Taki, has a move for every situation. 1a from misty? just k2 and your good.

In Halo 3, everyone uses the Hayabusa armor and/or goes for the sniper.
Umm...how is that armor the best? I thought they had little/no effect besides appearence.

Usually get asked that question by kids.

People get much older than that and they start to understand specialization.

I'm never the popular choice.

When playing Fifa I play as my local club Arsenal - I see so many Manchester UTD's or Barcelona's its not even funny...

Soul Calibur 4 - Siegfried, Mistrarugui (yes I know I can't spell) Kilk or Cervantes are also over-used because they have powerful quick attacks that people spam, those 4 are easily the "noobiest" characters in the game. As a result I ended up using Voldo.

I like to mix it up, sure I may lose a few times,(except on Fifa =D) but I prefer strategy to mindless spam anyday.
Alot of noobs may choose Sigfried but they are nothing when compared to a Sigfried master (me). But just for the hell of it i started playing as Zasalamal and after many losses i finally mastered him (somewhat).

Makes me think of the flavour of the month trend in WOW. Most hardcore pvpers I know will reroll and level a new character becuase that character is the best for that season.

The simple fact is if something is the best if you want to do well why bother being different and risk weakening your position. Unfortunately this takes away alot of the variety in games :(

People think they look good in it and are impressing others.

Who cares, SFIV is just SFII with new graphics. To me there's nothing new, I barely like fighting games but there are others I have preferred.

Far as street fighter goes, I am traditionally a shoto player - I like them, and I see nothing wrong with this just because they're popular... I'm certainly not going to listen to the argument of "Be original and use THIS character!". I really don't care if everyone likes this character or that character, I pick the ones I like. In street fighter 4 I'll usually use Akuma, Ryu, Ken, Cammy or Abel.. though in actual fact Ryu and Ken are seeing less and less use, and Cammy is seeing more.

My favourite is definately Akuma, I love his large variety of moves and the real challenge you face with his limited health when you come up against a player who knows how to fight him, especially those who use power characters... try using akuma against a talented geif player and see how you go...

Example: last night I got a mate of mine down to about 5% health - I had not taken one bit of damage. Then he managed to get in close and took me down to about 20% in about 4 seconds. I still managed a win, but if that had been a the start and not the end, things mightn't have worked out.

A note for those who complain about 'cheap tactics' - seriously, find a way around them. Akuma spamming fireballs and teleports? Block the fireballs, wait for the port and land a special just as they end up next to you!

I got similar responses in WoW because I play a Night Elf Rogue, which back in the day was the most popular race/class in the game. I picked the class cause I liked the playstyle and the race.. it had nothing to do with anything else. I still play that class now when rogues are the LEAST played class in the game.

if you like to play akuma, watch out for people who play as fei long (me :D). He has a combo (can't remember the name) that is basically a flying kick (that goes backdown, down, forwarddown, forward, forwardup then kick). It covers a fair distance and when timed fairly ok it will pass over hadokens and get you off guard usually, this also works well on ryu/ken players.

Yeah that combo is nasty! I can usually block it because I don't really spam Hadokens, ususally I'll fire one over at someone as they're getting up to force them onto the defensive again. Good combo is to fire one over, then one from the air jumping toward them and drop into a sweep or shoryuken.

Tell this to them: If there was one particlarly good character/vehicle/class, then why would the developers bother making the other 30 or so that are in the game?

Well, on CoD4 (xbox) it was M16, MP5/P90 and M40A3. On CoD5 (xbox) its MP40 or STG44.

I prefer using a gun that feels right or is satisfying to use, such as a double barrelled shotgun and heavy machine guns. Nothing beats blowing peoples legs off.

I have to admit that THQ and Relic aren't helping matters with their overwhelming sense of Space Marine worship that grows ever more apparent and sickly with each new game that comes out. Hell they couldn't even be arsed to put together a decent movie for the Imperial Guard, Emperor-bothering Sisters and Tau. But yeah... Imperial Guard for me.

Anyways. Yes. Tis the one reason I stopped playing Warcraft since the demand to spec a certain way became somewhat incessant and annoying as the sheer number of people specced the same way (the winning way apparently) grew and grew.

On a side note, if only the Space Marine players realised that all Space Marines are most likely sterile and only have big guns as compensation.
I know this fact and still love them. But unlike most i use a Fluff based tactically played marine army.

This is a problem that is very common in MMO's, where alot of people choose to play the game after how others play it instead of how they want to play it, min-maxing its called (i think), and i think its just retarded.

Its very common in WoW where almost everyone at max level play the way everyone else does because they can get a little more dmg/healing out of it, which isnt the way you're supposed to play the game, and i've never ever fallen for it (unlike my friends), i always choose my own speccs/gear from the way i want to play, i dont care if i go from nr. 1 in dps to nr. 6 as long as i think its a fun way to play the game.
