Cuba working fine under communism? How are you judging that? Because communism hasn't killed everyone yet? I don't believe I've ever heard any of these phrases in my life

"Hey how come our country isn't more like Cuba?"

"One day, if I save up my money, I can move to the dreamland that is Cuba!"

"I can't wait to hear what Cuba thinks on this new global crisis!"

"Hey, aren't you forgetting to factor in what the Cubans could do?"

"Yeah I agree, when I think of great civilizations, you have to start with Egypt, then the Greek City-States, the Roman Empire, and lastly, Cuba"

I will agree that communism certainly has failed at what it is intended to do. However, capitalism has not. America does not even have a free-market economy, it is a mixed economy so your last point is irrelevant. (You must not live in America, there are no people "not surviving". I'll let you know when I see my local news when someone starved to death or succumbed to the elements because of a lack of shelter).
Alright, if America is not a capitalistic country then no such country exists, so the term capitalism is irrelevant.
Also, I didn't mean not surviving, what I mean is that both systems don't work very well, and communism happened to fall first. Look at how much money the US government is throwing at their problems. BILLIONS an BILLIONS to bail out their country, and they will never get out of this debt. With banks everywhere dropping and companies letting off plenty of employees.

Honestly I can see another depression if this doesn't stop, because now that the US economy is down, it dragged more than Canada into a depression, it dragged most of the world.

There are capitalistic countries, America being one of them, but they are not a truly free-market economy.

And yes the American government is throwing billions and billions at these failed banks and automakers. But that is not a capitalistic thing to do. The American government started this mess (doing the opposite of what a free-marketeer would want) and is trying to fix the problem using more socialistic tendencies than anything having to do with capitalism.

So nowhere has capitalism failed. I really hope you have not bought the propaganda that far-left loons are spouting off that "unfettered capitalism" is responsible for this mess. It's a complete lie. Government intervention with backed loans as well as huge slashing of interest rates got us here.

Finally, yes, many presidents of the US have failed to know that America is the engine of the world economy. Obama unfortunately is no different.

Colonization of the "uncivilized world"

Wanna know why Africa/Latin America/Southeast Asia is so screwed up?

Nah, Jesus was a cool guy. Was in general a very wise person, had some nice ideas, outstanding moral fiber, stood up for what he believed in, died for it without complaint, never really did much wrong.

Maybe you're confusing him with a handful of his crazy followers that give all religion a bad name.

How was Jesus, a man who preached love and non-violence a bad Idea?
I can see how killing in his name would be a bad Idea... but still.
Note: I am not Christian. I am Agnostic. Very scientificly minded.

Most expensive and power hungry machine ever built in the history of humanity and it doesn't do anything?

Yeah, that is a mistake alright.

It was privatly funded not taxed to the people, so why are you mad???

its not like you paid for it.

It runs on private generators, not stripping the natives of power, so why are you mad???

And its for science. :]

At least you gave a reason, a weird one, but a reason nontheless

Naah I ain't mad. Where the cash came from and all the power it's using doesn't stop it from being a monumental waste. I was actually amused when the thing broke down, as I had a particular dislike of the arrogance that was being shown by its creators/sponsors as it was being built. There was none of the humility of a scientist looking for discovery there, it was the arrogance of someone who was going to prove to the world that they were right about everything so ner ner ner.

Ya I know of some of the scientist's pride and ego, but it is ultimatly for science.

I'm mad because even though the chances were stupidly fenominally small, there was still a chance that the thing could end all life. I'm not sure about you but I don't want to have to die because for science. I think its stupid that the decision was made to build and run something that had the potential to kill everything was made. I just dont like the idea that lives were gambled when there was a maybe, no matter how slim the maybe was.

You know what? Alot of people have some decent points on this thread. My own would be that the worst idea Mankind has ever had is the current economy.

Black holes are created everyday on the LHC. there are just too small to start anything.

Most of the black holes we think started becuase of the vast quantities of mass that were there.

Exactly, the mass to start a black hole has to come from somewhere, obviously there isn't enough to start one on earth because we would have become one already.

Well fair enough. Personally I still don't like the idea of mankind and our beloved Earth being gambled for science, but then again I'm not one of the super smart scientists who made or designed this thing, and I suppose they wouldnt have built/turned the thing on if the chances of armegadon were big enough.
