All of the 10 year olds turned up and got an internet connection.
That is why I detest online play, the only way to enjoy it is to win, not just play it.
Not so with splitscreen, which, as long as you have decent friends, you'll be fine.

You've been here for almost a year and a half and this is the best discussion you could contribute? Aren't you supposed to be setting an example for the new users instead of setting a a baser standard for this community?

The only reason they play like this is because its practically identical to the CoD 4 multiplayer experience. They're keeping it similar so they dont have to adopt any new skills, and can still call themselves "pros".
Or nearly everything introduced in MW2 unbalances the game/competitive play.

And that's absolutely true.
Entirely. Most of the CoD competetive community died out after they considered WaW a bust and MW2 even worse. No dedicated servers sealed the deal so most of them either continue to play CoD4, some even stay on CoD2, and even some few still compete in CoD:uo.

MW2 can not succeed as a competetive game without dedicated servers anyway, but there is a group of players that cannot bring themselves to play the older incarnations.

Untill a new fairly mainstream PC fps is introduced the competetive community is incredibly fractured and inactive for now. Shattered Horizon has promise as the next big competive game but the DX10 restriction cut it off from the players begrudgingly hanging on to xp.

Posted on Reddit [http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/amxjm/im_going_to_the_international_gamestop_10k_finals/c0iebyo?context=1] by someone who plays MW2 professionally:

Perks:
No Bling
No One Man Army

Equipment:
No grenade launchers
No claymores
No C4
No secondary launchers
No blast shields
No tactical insertions
No riot shields
No secondary shotguns

Rules:
No killstreaks
Deathstreaks must be set to copycat in most PC leagues

What do you guys think? Are these rules you happen to play by as well? Would you mind playing by/want to play with them? I follow everything except for tactical insertion. And I use a Stinger in one class, but that's not really an issue if there are no killstreaks.

Personally, I would love to be able to play like that, even without the killstreaks and tactical insertions. Shame it's not possible on MW2 :(
Wouldn't bother me.

Except the deathstreak of course, but I wouldn't miss it.

The only two I don't follow on that list is killstreaks and death streaks. Also launchers, but I have a class saved for an emergency (Pave Low, other HOLY $@%^! Killstreaks), but I rarely use.

Yeah, a lot of the things on the list are really just in response to taking out something else which unbalances competitive play.

I don't know what's wrong with those things, except no kill streaks. I really hate kill streaks, even when I get them.

There was no discussion to be had. You said something about video game professionals, I lol'd.
Right you post something like that and then "veterans" like you complain about the quality of the forums. "I lol'd."

You do know there a pleanty of video game "professionals" who have major sponsers, get flown around the world to compete, win more money than you probably make in a year, while earning diplomas or holding down other jobs?

And I'm not talking about Korean Starcraft players, I speak only from my own experiances with Call of Duty1-4 players.

Instead of throwing killstreaks out the door completely, they should just make everyone have the same killstreak.

Pfft, yeah, like video games were really made for that. Oh wait... they were... huh...

OT: Never bought MW2 for many many reasons, but with CoD4/WaW, I believe it should be playing with EVERYTHING allowed, even though I find last stand incredibly annoying.

Those aren't pro rules. There is only 1 rule to be a pro. Knife Only. No Tactical knife, nothing, just knife.
But but but I like my tactical knife!

Why would you even still want to play the game after removing so much from it? I guess it's maybe)possibly okay at tournaments... but no, wait, what? Why? Why have a tournament of Modern Warfare 2 but disallow a whole bunch of shit? And not just a couple of things, like martyrdom and the grenade launcher if it were CoD4, but lots and lots of shit!

How is imposing your own rules and your own playstyle on others considered "sportsmanship"? Isn't that all about following the rules and being fair about it? If a game allows all that equipment, then it's part of the rules and being fair would only mean not abusing glitches and unintentional bugs...

Why don't they just play Counter-Strike? The graphics, is that it?

This here comment as an example. Playing the game as it's "meant to be played" as you preach it does not make you better nor does it mean you are enjoying yourself more. For example I like playing COD 4 both modded and unmodded, so what am I? Some kind of crossover between completely horrible (which I'm not) and the set of "good players" who play it "like it's meant to be played?" Seriously, that's just offensive, and like I said before, this wanting to play the game differently results in new and fun things (TF2 like I mentioned above).
Just to be clear, I have no problem with modded games. I love modded games. I love games with special rules. But I'm playing for fun. If you're throwing the rules or mods in just for fun, that's awesome, you're improving the game. I just hate when people claim that just because they can play the game awesome with all these extra rules and conditions that they need to be good at the game.

I'm not saying that playing the game pure makes you good, I'm just saying that being good at the game with all the rules swapped out doesn't make you good either.

could be fun, if played with teh right people, but then again the same could be said for any game no matter the rules
