This is like only playing on Final Destination with no items on SSBB...boring and only for the tourney tards.
The goal is to remove randomness and promote balance and skill. It's not for everyone, but calling anyone a "tourney tard" because they enjoy the competitive scene is a bit retarded, to use a term you understand.
Promote balance and skill when everyone only use specific characters because of how broken they are? Yeah, sounds like a load of fun.

1. its not fun to play in such a league (perhaps explaining why MLG is teh suck)
2. most of the things listed take a fair amount of skill to use, is fundamental to the flow of game play, and none of them are cheap.

for the record I haven't complained about a single weapon in any FPS yet.

Its just a game, no reason to attach such restrictive rules to it.
Thats why its called a game..not supposed to be taken so seriously.

I have a problem with having profesional and MW2 in the same sentence. I also find it hard to think that there are rules to a video game which you can only really break the rules if you hack. So ya, you can't put rules on games like MW2 because that eliminates the 'fun' factor and the diversity of the gaming culture, no matter how 'pro' anyone is...

Again, it's not for everyone. I myself prefer this bare-bones style of play because it's more about personal skill and less about luck. There's no denying that things like kill streaks and grenade launchers add a luck factor to MW2, just like item drops and stage events add luck and randomness to SSB.

*Loads modle 1887's while he preps his bling m16 with grenade launcher and FMJ, makes sure he has c4 on standby*

GAME ON BITCHES!

EDIT : this is also why halo 3 kicks MW2 ass. Because the have MLG and there are hardly any retrictions there.

Bling is a must have. its on all my classes. Bling pro should be 3 weapon attachments, fuck the secondaries. especially the shotguns and M16-Mini. No secondary shotguns is a great idea, fuck the shotguns.

You say "Luck Factor," I say guarantee. Grenade launchers are almost always a guaranteed kill. Same with shotguns.

Why does hockey have penalties or soccer/football have red cards then? Or are the players just not "pro" enough?
The players do not set the rules. For example, in the NFL, the players are just abiding by the way the game is set up, just like the way the developer would set a game up. The analogy does not work.
Sigh, read the source. The league sets up the rules, just like in other sports. Not individual players.

People actually play MW2 professionally? It's got to be about the very worst FPS released in the last 5 years for that kind of use. It's a game that has been obviously geared squarely towards the "just for fun" crowd. I thought pro gamers would be more likely to play just about anything else.

This is why I don't get or like pro gaming. Ruins the fun in it.

All the perks and equipment add to it really.

I disagree. Ever play Instagib in Quake 3?

Removing things changes the game. But change doesn't mean "less fun."

Sorry, but if you HAVE to take things away to be good, you are NOT pro

And my thoughts exactly Caligulove, I really disliked the first 3 CoDs, they simply felt like too generic of a FPS, there wasn't any differences between Medal of Honor. It wasn't until MW that I began liking them, mainly because of the challenge perks added.

It's what people SHOULD play by. I'm sick of all these kids at my school thinking they are pro FPS players when they get a Chopper Gunner and spawn rape people.

True story, I said my friend made a Sniper-Only Frag Movie, and the first MW2 player said "What's a frag?" and the second MW2 player says "Grenade kills?"

Seriously.

Haha, I actually thought instagib was the most fun mode to play on Unreal.
Changing things doesn't always make things worse. I love riot-shield-only on MW2, vehicle and knife only on Battlefield 1942.

But they take away nearly everything... it would only be fun for a little while. Change makes it different and difference is usually fun but not this

Most "Pros" are full of shit, people should be able to use ANYTHING at their disposal in a game.

It's all preference. I've played with very similar rules in COD4 and had an awesome time, but that's because I excel at matches of pure reflexes/aiming/team coordination I guess.
