This is a trend that has to stop.
Oaky first of all the writers have no idea how to write black characters, so their behaviour is essentially a stupid stereotype.
But the main reason is that most of the time movies add a black character to the story so as not to be accused of being racist when casting....
So to try to announce how 'not racist' they are they decide to add an out of place, obnoxious and annoying ethnic character who stands out from the rest of the characters and usually has little to no relevance to the actual PLOT. Who was added just because (s)he is black.
Isn't that just as racist when you think about it? Because they only do that to draw attention to the fact that the person's skin is a different colour to the others. You shouldn't need to add an ethnic character to a cast just for the sake of having one.
It wasn't that bad...but it really lacked subtlety.JC175 said:I see your point with the vampires, but I thought the mannequins really worked, it turned the first part of the film into an analysis of a man and his deterioration through isolation. But I'm never going back to it, it hurt me too badly.

How about some examples of movies with a token black character that was not integral to the plot?
Not read the book but I agree that the film was amazing up until the part where he meets the woman and boy.JC175 said:I Am Legend.
The film was amazing, at least for the first two thirds. And then the kid shows up, and everything turns to balls, and the original message of the novel is completely turned about and shat upon.
I don't think I've ever been so disappointed.
The one where it's revealed that the alpha male... vampire monster thing... was in fact this whole time just searching for his mate that Robert Neville had captured and that was the reason he had exposed himself to sunlight and had been searching frantically?Indigo_Dingo said:How do you feel about the original ending on the DVD?Machines Are Us said:Not read the book but I agree that the film was amazing up until the part where he meets the woman and boy.JC175 said:I Am Legend.

I rather enjoyed Jar Jar for his pathetic humor in him.tenlong said:i don.t think anyone liked jar jar binks. i wanted him to die.demonsaber said:taken jar-jar binks out of the star wars movies completely.
God, you people are way too critical when I came to Star Wars: Eps 1-3. I'll admit that the second one was very iffy but does that really condemn the rest of them? Think about it, lightsaber battles wouldn't be as badass as they are now if we would have left them to Luke, Vader, and old Obi-Wan.madbird-valiant said:To be annoying, I think if Star Wars: Episodes I, II and III had their entirety removed, they would be a LOT better.

On Topic: They could destroy the Watchmen movie, re-film it and follow the comic better, or alternatively they could just leave it in the comic.
