Transformers would have been much much better without Michael Bay.
You're kidding right? If it wasn't for the epic of Micheal Bay that movie would have just been a cartoon. He did an amazing job with that movie.
I agree. In fact Transformers is the only Michael Bay move that I will ever admit to enjoying. I've seen it more times than I can even remember.
It has explosions, and chase scenes, and an easy plot. Giant Alien Robots fight each other and wreck shit in the process.
If he could screw that idea up then I lose all hope for humanity.

Remove the sex scene from Watchmen. Pretty good movie, but I cringed when I saw that.

If I may do a non movie example, Half-Life would have been so much better without Xen.

Edit: Confusing mind-screw anime example: I thought End of Evangelion was a good movie, and the hallucinations were needed to show how broken Shinji was at that point, and I didn't mind a good bit of the philosophical rambling, but the live-action stuff needed to be cut. Even if it's supposed to be confusing and bizarre, that wasn't needed even for that.

Everything in the world can stand for a little improvement, even the things we hold up as perfect, an example being movies. Sometimes we think that movies would be even better if they added something to it like I dunno... a full nude scene with Scarlett Johansson?... yeah go with that. the idea that if this was added the movie would be that little extra bit better, you know that little tasty detail on a cake.
However what about things in movies that you consider could have been removed to make the movie better? Like okay I'll use 2005's the Island as a refereance. While the overall theme and setting were all truly great and imaginative I felt that the one thing that ruined it where the tacked on car chases and action sequences. They didn't fit in and call me crazy but car chases don't exactly trigger my amazement or awe and wonder. If they had scratched these parts and instead made it a story about understanding human nature and the mystery of one's identity then it would have been better. It would have been the equivilant of removing a lump of mouldy fruit from the top of an otherwise delcious apple crumble.

So what about you what part or parts of movies that you considered good do you think could have been removed to make it better?
Removing Michael Bay from that movie would have made it great. That can be said for ANY movie he has done. No michael Bay = no using action sequences as a crutch for a bad script.

If they changed the total BS ending of "The Mist", it could have been a great horror film. The end just tried to screw with your mind.

The main character shoots his 8-year-old son in the forehead with his last bullet so he doesn't have to experience the horror of being eaten by monsters. Not 2 minutes later, the main character gets rescued by the military and taken to a safe camp. It was messed up and just left a bad taste in my mouth.

I kind of liked the ending. It was bitter-sweet and original. Whats more horrific than having to do what the main character had to do?
Well yeah, but I felt that it was unnecessary. It went from being a supernatural horror movie to a psychological one. It just felt like a weird transition that was altogether unneeded.
I dare say the film was both horror and psychological the whole way through. Note the survivor at the end who began the movie with great determination towards good intention while the idiots who had bad intention were all killed mysteriously, and the plea to the bug-monster from the "mouth" of god. Were the monsters a part of the rapture or were they a test experiment gone wrong? They didn't want to let us know. Steven King has a way of sheathing the cause and focusing on the situation. I don't disagree with you though, the ending was fucked up one way or another.

On Topic: They could destroy the Watchmen movie, re-film it and follow the comic better, or alternatively they could just leave it in the comic.
Watchmen wasn't that horrible. Considering the fan base, and the fact that they had to appeal to those that had never even heard of the book, and still try and appease the rabid fans of the book...
they did the best that they could. Plus if they had tried to fit everything from the book into the movie. It was long enough as it was. Plus I managed to get more people to read the book after seeing the movie with them.
Everything from the book that I wanted to see was in the movie so I can't complain.

In general, movies could do without the "call-back" line. You know, when a character says something towards the beginning of the movie and then the same character or a different one says the same line again towards the end of the movie. Almost all movies have it and I'm getting sick of it.

The Lord of the Rings movies are really good, but they'd be great without all those extra long holds on scenery or someone pouting about. They could have kept in a lot more characters and story parts without all those sweeping panorama shots. I mean, New Zealan..I mean Middle Earth...is really scenic and all but come on!

I was a little disappointed with the end of Room 1408. It wasn't bad...It just didn't seem right in my mind. The wife should have been told what happened, and the thing in the car...

Also, the end of The Mist, not a great movie I know, was totally ruined by the whole incident in the car...I really didn't see it coming, no wait, I did.

While I'm on this topic...sorry to bring up anime, but the end of Death Note. I mean really, can't the bad guy get away with it just once! I was so loving it all the way up to the point where he becomes a little crying ***** at the end. Grr.

Ironically, the thing i hated most about the actual books were some overly long descriptions about the journeys between two points of interest.

Proof of a good adaption? ^^

Personally I can't see any other way to end that movie. Although I've got to say that seeing the woman who went out alone in the beggining riding by with her kids was just a bit much of a "fuck you" to the main character. But overall the movie seemed to focus on how quickly society can break down in a bad situation, which the ending sort of punctuated by showing the main character do something that no father would want to do under any circumstances.

You know what would have been a really great ending to the prequels? Jar Jar binks getting shot in the face. He was so fucking irritating.

Remove the last 10-15 minutes of I Am Legend and refilm it and I would love that movie.
have you seen the alternate ending?
No. I saw it in theatres. What happens?
He realises the girl he cured is the alpha males girlfriend so he just wheels her out of the room and all the zombies leave and he goes with the girl and child to the survivors colony

The entire movie of Eragon. Remake it to actually follow the story of the first book and not cut out mostly all of it.
Although I love the books and the movie, I must agree with this.

Removing the fluffy cuddly love stories between the main character and a token member of the cast in every bloody splatter movie there is.

I want to see people die, god dammit, not watch their relationship magically grow stronger as they're chased by a psychotic killer, knowing both of them are likely to end up dead anyway.

Remove Tom Cruise from anything with Tom Cruise.
Completely agree, he's a complete twat

Also pretty sure someone would have mentioned this, but anything done by Uwe Boll should be covered with elephant shit, soaked in 10 gallons of scrotum sweat, pissed on by 1000 aid-infested hobo's and force-fed to Uwe himself.
