I've always loved 8/16bit games, whether they're oldie gems from the SNES era or more recent stuff that's just simple with the graphics. Ol' Papa constantly rattles me about playing artifacts. But you know what? I don't need excessively detailed graphics, I focus on GAMEPLAY dammit. Older style graphics can have a certain charm to them. So long as the graphics of a game aren't overly distracting, I'm fine.

He also keeps joshing me about liking 'that crazy Japanese anime stuff,' even though I really don't. He'll call me a 14 year old Japanese schoolgirl despite that there isn't much that's particularly anime-styled I usually play, read, or watch. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head are the few Touhou games I have, and I don't play those often.

Definitely the fact that I enjoy the original series of Star Trek, you would not believe how many times I've been called a trekkie if I ever bring it up. It's probably because people see it as being too "nerdy" to associate with, which I think is just sad.

Art house flicks. Okay, for every pretentious awful art-house film, there's also a wonderful underrated film that makes you able to have faith in the film industry. But trying to persuade people to watch these vastly underrated films is as effective as sticking your head into the microwave Last House on the Left remake style. You have no idea how fucking annoying this is.

"Hey, have you ever seen The Wrestler? It's actually a really good movie, and Michey Rourke gave out a fantastic performance and--"

"Wha--?? I've never heard of it. That probably means it isn't popular. And that probably means it's shit! Now, get away from me, I'm trying to wack off to Transformers 2 again."

Or...

"Hey! Did you know that our health teacher is actually showing us Requiem for a Dream?* That's like, one of the best movies ever!"

"He showed to us and it suuuucked. It felt so 'new' and 'original' and 'different' and 'dark', and it was all too much for my brain to process! I have to go back home and watch another Resident Evil movie!!"

Maybe I'm just a big movie enthusiast (a.k.a. nerd) and I'm really over-exaggerating, but it's pretty much the gist of my conversations with the children in my god-forsaken school. In fact, there was one moment where I watched Being John Malkovich with my sister and she complained that it was too "different". Literally she used the word "different", it makes me sick.

*Poster's Note: Our health teacher was actually really close to showing us Requiem for a Dream but couldn't because our school changed the teacher's movie policy to only G and PG rated films. A shame, because instead we had to watch an absolutely atrocious drug PSA instead.

Anime (they think it's all hentai and yet they loved anything by Studio Ghibli), Pokemon and roller coasters. Apparantly knowing more than the name of a roller coaster is nerdy.

I get laughed out by my parents and friends of my parents for liking this song a whole lot:

I also get laughed at by my parents (and some of my friends) for thinking 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of the best movies ever made.
Your parents have no taste then. People might not like either of those things but Bowie is a brilliant song writer and 2001 is a fantastic film.

As of right now, I have two favorite activities:
watching Glee and playing d&d.

Other "Gleeks" make fun of me for liking d&d
other d&d fans make fun of my love for musical tv dramas.
It's a hard knock life.

Laughing. Or just plain being happy I suppose. Honestly, you can't play a single online game without someone getting outright -pissed- at you for laughing or --god forbid!-- being plain pleased.

Although, this doesn't mean that I haven't been insulted or yelled at for no reason in -real life- due to laughter... What's wrong with a little enjoyment?

XD
--OH Yeah! Anime. That, too.

Dungeons and Dragons.

Get so much shit for that, even though my friends seem to enjoy Bioware games and WoW and such, as I do.

Anime... I get insulted and made fun of a lot for liking anime.. From strangers and family alike..

I also get made fun of by my family a bit for liking fantasy novels i.e. Terry Pratchett and similar.

Well, WOW would be enough to get hate, but inside WOW, I get a fair bit of hate because I've been running a guild for 3 years and we've never done a proper raid. We're based in casual play, levelling, and helping each other and new players, which I think is a fairly noble cause really.

However there's GS freaks who think that any time spent not improving your gear is time wasted and anyone not raiding is obviously a noob and should delete all their characters.

Kinda bugs me, that some people can't just leave others to play how they choose.

Generally, people who see me watching shows on here say they look crap(because some of the jokes...[sub][sup]aren't that funny[/sup][/sub]. Also, games like Lugaru tend to get instantly dismissed as 'bad' because they have awful graphics.

all, or rather, most of my friends like AC/DC while i hate it, but because i dont like listening to pig squeels and prefer funky tunes of trance and techno, they give me alot of shit.

also, i like to watch anime right? a hand full of dip shits i know think that anime is just hentai, yes hentai, anime-porn, and ive just tried explaining to them over and over again that, yes, SOME animes can have hentai in it, but the animes i watch dont have any sexually explicit material in it...
