My mom's boyfriend and her used to go clubbing, and her boyfriend was a gypsy, so when I listen to house music, electronica, etc, she calls me either a Ecstasy addict or a gypsy.
What are names you have been called before because of your music?

Besides "that guy with good taste in music" because I like Strauss, Mozart, and Bizet far more than I like modern pop?

"Geekier than the guys at the Horde."
Chiptune tends to have that effect on people...

"Scourge of Humanity" (I used to live in a small, conservative town in the midwest, and I listened to a lot of metal)

Fucking funny is when I'm listening to metal / death metal.

No one has ever commented on alternative / grunge rock.

Oh and weird when I get mah GTA SA radio play list going.

I actually had a guy at work call me a barbarian. I was just listening to the Dropkick Murphys and the Pixies, and he walked around calling me a barbarian listening to "that noise, or whatever the fu-- you want to call it."

you listen to chiptune too?, shocking stuff, I thought I was the only one.
Although I do believe it to be in its infancy, only Sabrepulse is the truely break out hit in the chiptune scene. I look forward to the day Chiptune as a genre can stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Warp records.

I sometimes listen to it, thanks to my making a retro game.
But people always call me hippie thanks to the fact that I own a LOT of 70's/60's music

Hippie. Deadhead. Romantic. Vagrant. Goth.

I've also been called a "follower" because I've loved bands like Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. Problem is, I listened to NIN since the late '80s with Pretty Hate Machine and they didn't become popular till the mid '90s with The Downward Spiral. And I went to MM concerts when he was just an opening act for Gen and the Genetorturers, before Trent Reznor ever even heard his music and produced his first CD. Not saying there's never been music that was popular that I loved, but I don't love them because they are popular. I love them because I love the music. /end

I got called an Emo once becuase I listen to Oasis, I didnt know if I should have been insulted or not, I dont listen to emo music and I'm not all that fond of it but then again the guy who insulted me doesnt what genre he was talking about.

All in all a swift head but from me settled the arguement :).

Emo/cool/good tastes

I like anything from heavy metal to grindcore to piano and vocals. I also like 50's music. I like a lot of music all across the spectrum however, I only stand country and rap.

I listen to metal (for the most part), and I've been called "emo". How these two connect, I have no idea.

I don't recall ever slitting my wrists and crying over Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, or Motley Crue.

I also don't recall denim vests and baggy blue jeans to be part of the emo style.

Or long curly hair.

Or... ARGH!
