I don't want a "jump" button ever again in a game. I want a "jump-roll-climb-scale" combined button that does whatever makes the most sense contextually at the moment.
Thief 3 did this fairly good. If you faced an object that you could realistically climb on top of (box, window frame, etc), pressing jump would make Garret just climb on top of the thing. The downside was, sometimes it would bug, and instead of climbing you would just do a little bunny hop, which makes noise. Noise is bad in a game about sneaking.

What Im tired of is shooter games where you cant see your goddamn body. Its stupid that you can look down, and evidently youre just a disembodied head. Its hugely more immersive when you look down, and see that you have an actual body. The only games that come directly to mind that did this was Thief 3, and Jurassic Park Trespasser. Actually Trespasser used it uniquely, as your health indicator was a tattoo on your chest.

I also want more shooter games to implement realistic ballistics. True Combat, a mod for Quake3 did this the best that I saw. Hiding behind a wooden fence wasnt much protection against someone shooting an M-16 at you. I understand that lots of shooters couldnt need this, where the over-the-top weaponry and physics are the point. But for gods sake, any game that gives me a modern projectile weapon, I expect to be able to shoot through drywall, use the sights on the weapon, have to adjust for bullet drop.

F.E.A.R. You forgot F.E.A.R. The first game (that didn't suck from a gameplay point of view *COUGH*TRESPASSER*COUGH*, nothin' against the concept, but it wasn't very good, simple azzat) I recall to let you see your freaking feet, legs and arms.

I'd like to finally see a driving/facing game with truly realistic vehicle damage models. Just once I'd like to drive into a concrete pillar at 50 mph and see the car crumple, the windshield shatter, hear the engine grind to a halt as it's crushed against an immovable barrier, and preferably even see my driver go flying through the windshield to impact against the column with a satisfying crunch and squish...

instead of me bouncing off and continuing on down the road with smoke coming from the engineand a crumpled front bumper. But that's just me. Buckle up...

How about this? City of Heroes style mmorpg, but with a kaiju (ie Godzilla) motif?

So, you put together your own giant monster, choose its attributes (does it fly, shoot giant lazers out of its eyes, etc etc) and literally go to town. Gain experience by wrecking buildings and taking out defense forces. As you progress in level, your monster gets bigger allowing it to ravage suburbs -> towns -> cities -> metropolises -> planets

The ability to make your own traps. many games have"you can put mines here or lure zombies to this barrel here!!!" type traps but I'd like to have a game where you get a sheet of ply wood, some rope,an axe, this spring and some tape; Have at it.

also, the ability to stab some one with a razor-sharp shot gun barrel and then blast a guy from the inside out, or something similar in effect.

Well...the best shot we have at that 2nd thing is either Gears of War or Duke Nukem

How is there not a proper Vampire game?
I'm not talking about blookrayne or some other action/gore fest, I mean a game where you have to aware of sunlight, plan your feeding and such.
I know oblivion almost did this, but a whole game dedicated to fleshing out this idea wouldn't be unappreciated.
Uhm... the Vampire series? Vampire: The masquerade is based around Sp, a little Dark Messiah. Probably some of the scariest shit I've seen in some time. Quoting a convo me and my brother had fighting a person that was sewn together from three people's upper bodies. "And what if another one's behind you?" "It isn't!" "What IF?" "IT ISN'T!" "Why not?" "BECAUSE I SAY SO!"
And as any good vampire, you regain life. Blood heals you, if you haven't drinken blood lately, it becomes apparent to anyone else that you're a Vampire and you have broken the masquerade. For each time you break the masquerade you get a mark, and for each time it get likelier to be hunted by vampire hunters. You can also choose different paths (animalism, insect powers and alike). Animalism is interesting since you grow claws, the screen suddenly turns yellow and your character goes completely psycho. And calling out a swarm of bats to suck your enemy empty of blood can be entertaining too.

Your armour is based on light clothing, heavy clothing, light leather and heavy leather, the higher up the less of your dodge skill will be in effect.
