They only time my mum said anything to me was when i was trying to replace ram in my computer... whilst it was still on.

I think it went on line of, "See, I told you to stop playing Video games. There making you stupid."

My parents are pretty cool with it, sometimes my dad says he found some games he can easily download online for me if I was interested (one of these was Fable, which I already had for the XBox, but whatever.) and my mom says there probably is some intellectual value in games since I'm a fairly smart kid.

Father: "I don't know how you stare at that thing all day!"
ME: "I don'y know how you stare at the tv all day"
THIS word for word - it's the exact same thing that they are looking at!

"Are you going to go outside at all today?" "It's grey skies, almost time for dinner and there's nobody around today so no"

"Why do all these people have weird names? And what the hell is up with yours?! Ku..k..a..kow? What IS that??"

"So I see the studying is going well then?" "Been on 10 minutes after 4 hours of studying" "...Do more then?

"What game is this?" followed by a terrible pun relating to what's on screen

I hope you all got the "why don't you play outside and make new friends" line fed to you. you may try to explain that you're happy just playing games and you have enough friends, but they remain convinced that your play video games because you are sad and it affected your 'friend-getting' abilities. After all, every parent wants to see their kid be super popular and being the best in every sport.
In 2010 with facebook friends, the entire concept of "get more friends" has been undermined as completely and utterly as the Nobel Peace Prize has been undermined by Henry Kissinger's award.

I say treat video games with your parents in the same way you deal with racist old grandparents and your non-white friends... don't let them see it and they won't have an old person hissy fit.

Quite simply your mother - all our mothers - are prejudiced against video games because "it wasn't like that when I was my age" so therefore it must be evil. Quite simply, don't let them see you play it, out of sight, out of mind.
Grrrr! Please don't make assumptions about ''all our mothers'', it makes you as judgemental as the parents you accuse! (See my post a couple above this one for clarity) :)
The "all" part isn't to be taken literally... Gaaawwd. This is where my Aspergers fails me (even in text) I meant fraternally as in "hey, all you people in the same situation as me" which I completely FAILED to articulate.

But I hope a failure in articulation will be taken better than a flawed judgement :S

For the past 25 years, if my mum sees me playing a videogame, she'll ask "Are you winning?" For some reason, it irritated me as a kid, but now I find it charming.

I don't often get any of those lines anymore.. When I did it was just the usual "Don't you have anything better to be doing" and the like.

*sigh* there used to be a time my parents liked gaming almost as much as me.

I die, crash or fail in someway in a game;
My Mum: You're rubbish.
Me: I'd like to see you try.
Mum: No I'll leave that to you.
Me: (FACEPALM)

If I'm playing a computer game, their response is "go study". If I'm outside playing, even when I should be studying, they have nothing to say.

I wasn't being serious, dude (hence the ''Grrrr'', and the smiley face) Okies? :)
I have mentioned several times that the escapist not having emoticons causes more trouble, than the annoyance they cause, lol! ;-)
It is however very sensible advice you dispense ^ (which I put in bold cos bears repeating)

God how I laughed. I still am laughing actually.

I was playing God of War 3, in the middle of a boss fight against
Hercules, when I smashed his face
My dad came in and said "That's a pansy way to kill someone."

I also get comments on how bad I am at CoD4 when I don't get headshots.

Sometimes when my mum sees me brutally murder someone she'll go "Eww." Sometimes it's the old "Why don't you play something nicer?"
So after a while she sees me playing Eternal Sonata and it was one of those cheesy love scenes and she says "Awwwwwww" in a sarcatsic mocking voice. Makes me rage!

I also get the occasional "Are you winning?" which is hard to answer when your playing an open world game, which I do a lot.
