My best friend has blood-red contacts, is a cosplayer and recently dyed her hair to match her contacts. She used to get made fun of occasionally, but it would always annoy me more than it would bother her. ^^;; High-school-aged people are still trying to find their places in the world, so they tend to be way more insecure and hostile towards nonconformists. I'm optomistic things will get better in the real world. (Best friend has people stopping traffic to yell about how awesome her hair is out their car windows.) =)
I'm also a cosplayer, though I don't necessarily advertise it (recently >>;
, but my most striking physical feature is that I'm a girl and I'm 5'11"--as tall as, and taller than most guys, including adults in my school while still being rediculously wimpy. It wouldn't be so embarassing if my social skills weren't as weak as my body. I have anxiety attacks when talking to strangers and laugh hysterically and nearly break down into tears when attempting small talk. Everything's great with my fellow anime/game-loving-compadre's, but I don't deal too well with anyone my age.
As a shy person, I hate it when people superimpose personality traits on me. My nervous laughter and generally anti-social behavior tends to label me a psychotic nerd. Even my mom doesn't believe I have friends and chastises me for it daily.
Also, the church thing in the OP makes me sad. I'm sure my church would love to have someone with sweet eyes! Religious bigotry makes us real Christians sad.
