Secular humanism if that counts as a religion. Otherwise I think most religions are okay if they are practised secularly, because they usually promote giving to charity and treating others with respect. Nothing is wrong with that.

No religion really.

All have the same common problems, faith and dogma. Any belief system that is not based on faith and dogma is not a religion. So sadly there is none that I particularly like.

Ive got to say Pastafarianism.

If anyone has ever seen Andy Parson's religion line (on mock the week)

"There are three big religions, But only one can be right, Imagine that, You die, You go up to your god and he pulls out a sign... Bluff!"

That had me crying with laughter for weeks.

Ha, this question kinda hurts my head. To me it seems all faith based "Organisations" seem kinda silly. I enjoy people that belive something created life and don't conform to any religion that is already set fourth for them to belive. I can generaly have some interesting discussions with them, other than a Christian who will just throw a book at you and say "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED!'

Germanic paganism or Buddhism. The former because it's just fucking awesome (if you die in battle you, essentially, get to go to an epic party and get smashed for most of eternity before fighting in the most epic battle of them all), and Buddhism because it's, in my mind, one of the few 'nice' belief systems that doesn't involve inquisitions and infidels and shit. Just not being a dick, generally.

I think ancient greek mythology is an amazing religion if that counts. I spent most of my life learning about it. If being athiest was ever against the law (lol), I'd switch to ancient greek mythology. I know so much about and want to make a video game based on homer's odyssey (which I've read, awesome book). Its so interesting.
I second that- you know where you are with the classical gods- for a start, you get to pick from a variety of different ones (Athena gets my vote, always looking out for the underdog), and if you give them stuff, they give you stuff. Want a good crop this year? That'll be six lambs and a couple of tripods. Cheers Zeus.

They should definatly make a Homeric game - I reckon The Iliad. Dibs on Diomedes as my character if they do...

Alot of the eastern religions. Not so much for the beliefs themselves, as for the violence factor. When was the last time you heard "Extremist Taoists blow up temple?" Or, "Hindu suicide bomber kills 25"
Im fine with Christianity,Islam, Judaism, etc,
but the people who take it to extremes just make me say, "What the hell are you thinking?"

I'd have to say all religions that do not involve the macabre idea of Hell are fine. It's the organized Church that I really dislike. Separation of church and state? Not really. Religion is fine as long as it's not corrupt and controlling, which unfortunately some in the modern world are.

And religion does not justify modern non-spiritual beliefs - It was written 2,000 years ago. We've progressed so much. Let's all just go back to killing those cursed pagans, then!

Actually I pretty much dislike anything related to modern culture, and religion has jumped in, admittedly mostly halfheartedly.

But Norse is awesome. Best religion thought up ever.

To me it's not the religion but the person practicing it. I have no problem with someone who is Catholic. I have a problem if that person is trying to force it down your throat, treating you poorly/persecuting you because you don't believe what they believe, or is just obnoxious with their religion. You can believe what ever you want, especially when YOU where the one to chose it and not someone else. Just don't be arrogant with it.

Also a lot of people didn't chose their religion but, were brought up with it. I think it would be better if someone chose what they believe/not believe in without someone influencing them. That's what I did, I chose Atheism.

BTW, I was raised Catholic and currently a sophomore in a Catholic high school. Can't wait when I have morality in theology next year. *devilish grin*

Aren't Buddhists atheists?
I think buddhism is more accurately a way of life, or method of living, than a religion. Kind of like being a vegetarian.

I am actually religious myself, but if I was non-religious (agnostic. Wait, isn't that what I am?) I'd be keen on the religion that causes the fewest number of wars. As in, not Greek. While Yahtzee approves, there were a lot of deaths over whether Hermes likes the colour red or reddish-orange better. Christianity has caused plenty of deaths, Protestant, Catholic or otherwise. Buddhism, no. Bahai, no. Hmm, no wonder so many atheists say religion is a poison. I disagree, I think idiots and desperate people just fit in there better, and both categories are more easily led by evil people. While it's a great stomping ground for the idiotic, religion itself is not the problem.

What were we talking about again? I got lost in my own text.

I want to say Buddhism, but I dislike this aura of pompousness that seems to come from the idea of Nirvana.
that's more of a new agey spin on it, most of the legit ones in the east may have different views on what enlightenment means... but nearly all branches the main point is to loose the self.. Only real arrogance I see comes from the westerners who claim to be masters and want you to cough up thousands of dollars on cruises for talks, and book signings , or buddhist influenced new-agy shops
What he/she said, the pompousness comes from those that don't understand the concept or are trying to make money off of you. Hell,to reach Nirvana is basically to rid ones self of the "I" (IE: To help others is to help yourself, that selfishness is the cause of dukkha (suffering))

Edit: Buddhism is a relgion, just a semi-atheistic relgion. Gods and demons exist, but they really don't have power over our plane.

I imagine Buddhists would vote for Buddhist, as am I.

Id quite like the fundamentalist Christians with the earth is less than 10000 years old and fossils are a test of faith stuff... If they werent constantly trying inflict their beliefs on the rest of us, petitioning the government, pushid ID in schools, bombin abortion clinics etc.

It does take real effort to ignore evidence like that.
Ok, well what christians say that dinsaurs didn't exist? And I hope you don't mean literal bombing of abortion clinics, although I'm am completely opposed to it myself. And can you really say that you agree with everything your government says? Some things are petitioned for the best.

ehh...I'm pretty sure that the bible makes some referrences to dinosaurs, I'm not feeling like looking it up now though. I'm not sure what christians you hang around with, that "inflict" their beliefs on you, but Most of my christian friends never force it on me, and are unerstanding. I respect them for sharing their beliefs though, and when you think about it, if you thought your beliefs were the only way to heaven, than you would have to hate someone pretty badly to not want to share it with them.

Buddhism, i think it's great that all other religions talk about eternal life but buddhism is a struggle to end eternal pain.
