It's so true. My mom is a good Christian and is the most tolerant, forgiving, loving, wonderful person I know. And yet I've hear her say things like "aw, thats too bad" when some one is gay. It's never hate-speech, but there has been once or twice where I've had to start to wonder about her.

This made me laugh. Once again true (to uber Christians). I found it HORRIBLY offensive when I heard that the Mormon church spent several million dollars campaigning for prop 8. All that money could have gone to help needy people, homeless shelters, and food drives. Even LOTTERY TICKETS FOR HOMELESS would have been better spent. They could have used that money on just about anything, and it would have been better and less selfishly spent.

People are so fucking narrow minded.

Are they really different? They are both groups of people with different sexualities.
Homosexuals are attracted to people of their own gender, whereas paedofiles are attracted to children of one or both genders.

If you look at it from that point of view, a lot of things could be considered like homosexuality. Unfortunately, much of the world dislikes homosexuals, as they dislike the rest of the sexual deviants.

I support GLBT rights, and hope to see them allowed to be wed.

Since a majority of my friends are Christian, I can say both of these things are true. I, on the other hand, am a Christian that supports Gay rights and marriage.

There are execptions to every thing. I am glad that your a christian that supports it. But those who dont support gay rights are majority christian. The main reasoning for antigay is the fact that the bible condemns it. I was just answering the guys question to why people are homophobic.

Uhm, the problem with paedophiles is that they hurt children when they live out their sexuality. Children can't really consent to something they don't understand.
Normal homosexuals only have sex with consenting partners. They don't hurt anybody by what they're doing.
You may call both things sexual abnormalities (as in "not the norm", so far without further evaluation) but they aren't on the same level, never.
There's a big difference.

Think about it this way; If homosexuals can't really choose what sex they prefer, then pedophiles can't choose what age they are attracted to.

Besides, look at how many sexually active underage people there are. Maybe they think they are being denied rights.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the line that condemns gay sex from Sodom and Gomorrah. Also, wasn't that line more directed at letting sex distract you from gods will. Not necessarily just gay sex either...

Although you can joke about it, things like Bondage and S&M seem to go against your "unnatural argument", many straight men clearly enjoy these kind of fetishes where power roles can be exchanged, couple this with the gay and cross-dressing population and I'd imagine there's a large percentage of men who aren't dominant in the slightest, going against your its only natural for men to be big, testosterone fuelled dominant males who go around killing animals argument.

Ugh, to all you posters who wonder why someone has a prejudice: When will you understand that some people just hate things for no apparent reason? Also, maybe they have justified opinions in their own worlds. I just don't get why so many people expect everyone to act in a way they themselves find rational. Your reasonings don't always work for everyone because they are personal beliefs.

Did anyone think to consider that maybe you're the crazy ones? I'm not saying homosexuality is something I condemn, but please try to look at things from both perspectives.

And to that guy in the beginning of this thread who said that most homophobes are Christians: nice spelling, clearly you are a highly educated individual to be passing judgement on others as such, and homophobes extend far past those religious boundaries. My guess would be that the Middle East is the most homophobic culture in the world, and that's not a predominantly Christian area.
