Bringing your own knife to school/work because people might/have threatened you with a knife is doing it wrong; it'll just get you cut. I didn't know we'd be talking about work too, here's what worked for me: You play sissy, wait for them to walk away, then pounce and break one of their arms (you won't get away with breaking his/her neck). Be sure to explain the situation to the authorities when they arrive; Give a detailed description of the knife and where it is on the opponent's person, and after threatening you embelish that the opponent threatened to kill you the next time he/she saw you.

The highschool I graduated from had some interesting stuff happen. Once we had a diesel spill and students were getting sick and so they evacuated everyone for a while. Then, in my math class, someone left a punctured can of pepper spray in the trashcan. We all started coughing, the teacher thought it was a joke until the good kids (like me! Yay...) piped up. We finished our class in the lunchroom, it was kind of cool. The main thing I remember happening, although I swear more did, was once a teacher tried to kill a student by choking her.

At the school I had previously attended (my family moved alot) a kid once locked himself in the bathroom with a gun and a girl. We never did find out if it was a gun and a girl or just a gun, but we all had to wait in the gym for hours. There were also the occasional bomb threats.
...Are you fucking kidding me. THE GYM. What was their logic? "Hurr, dere be's a guy with a gun, durr, let's put all the fleshy targets in one big room, that'll keep them safe!"

Seriously?
Well he wasn't after us. I'm pretty sure he had pulled his girlfriend or ex girlfriend into the bathroom with him and was gonna shoot her or himself and make her watch or something. He pretty much had no problem with the whole school, just himself or the girl or something like that. Although now that you mention it, I recall somewhat thinking it was stupid at the time too, and stayed near the gym doors that went outside.

My guess is that it was a nice country school and it didn't happen there very often. They weren't really too sure how to handle the situation, I guess. When I moved, that highschool was more used to bomb threats and guns, so whenever something turned up they just went to business as usual, lol.

One of the teachers supposedly had "relations" with a student at prom. There was a massive fight between most of my year and the year below, it was fun until I got kicked in the balls...multiple time... Also the occasional pot smoking and I remember on the last day guy got absolutely pissed faced and got taken off the premises...Some other stuff has happened but I'm tired and can't remember stuff.

Hahaha, it's hilarious reading the reactions of people who don't live in the US talk about how scary and horrible it must be to live in the US.

We live in a country of 300 million. These wild stories are random bits of rarity. We have more cities, so we have more inner city schools, more poor people, more ghettos. So we have more gang violence, desperate people and crazies.

But seriously, my school has security guards and metal detectors. When we had a bomb threat, it was a real treat because we didn't have class for an hour. No one ever brought guns when I was there and when there were fights, the police would taser them if they didn't stop.

So it was fine.

We had a few prank fire alarms at my school, but no guns or knives even (except a few psychos). Never-mind cases of immolation, that's really disturbing.

Not as macabre as your story, but two years ago this one guy did chase another kid with a shovel. A teacher had to stop him and exlain very slowly in an exasperated tone why hitting people with shovels is a bad idea.

Nope, none of that shit happens here.

Well, it does, but not on the schools I'm in. I did bring a knife once I must admit, but this was fully by accident and it was a pocket knife used only for practical and typical boyish antics. No stabbity stab, I'm probably the least violent person you'll ever meet.

I remember some lads starting a small camp fire in the boy's toilets. It quickly went out of control and set the entire school on fire. Good times...

I brought a pocket knife to school, once. Accidentally. It was my scout knife that happened to go through the wash and stayed in my pocket. I attempted to turn it into the resource officer, but since busting a meth lab would've been too much of an actual civil service, she decided that the best course of action was to arrest a boyscout turning in a knife he accidentally had on him.

Alternative school was a ton of fun, though.

Of course, this was all while at school. Don't get me started on the sort of things that have happened during my two and a half years at university. Protests, student-newspaper censorship, the killing of Meredith Kercher (yeah, any of you heard of Amanda Knox? The girl she allegedly killed went to my university...), buildings being taken over, corruption in student politics... the works :p.
A guy graduated from my university this year who killed a girl in France with a brick, although they didn't gather enough conclusive evidence to convict him.

As for my secondary school, I don't think anything interesting ever happened, ever. Loads of testosterone fueled fights but nothing serious.

I went to a rather ghetto high school for my freshman year. And there was a good deal of freaky shit there.
We had fights every day in the cafeteria, and I'm pretty sure half of the school was carrying a gun. Which, oddly enough, made me feel rather safe. Knowing that nobody would dare go on a rampage because of such a high probability of running into a firing squad is a strange safety net, but still.
i think we went to the same high school...

probably the worst thing that happened at my high school was a gun threat and lockdown on homecoming. the pep rally was rescheduled for after school, and i take a bus, so because some kid decided that homecoming would be more fun if he shot all of the cheerleaders (i tried very hard not to take it personally), i waited around the school for about six hours after the day ended to get a ride home. and the school was in an awful neighborhood. AND, i had worn my uniform to school that day (it was homecoming, after all), so i was in a very short skirt and i was freezing.
