I am sure there is amazing stuff being released now, and in 20 or 30 years there will be "Hits of the 90s" and "Hits of the 00's" being sold on late night infomercials, and we will be sitting back going, yeah, i remember when they released that mmm-bop song
Load of crap. If there was something truly great released now it would be popular because it's great.

Also, I'm sure it is going to improve in the future, can't remain this shallow for long.

I really, really hate all of Kesha's music. But, I don't matter as I'm not her target audience. It seems like there is no music targeted at me... Everything on the radio makes me turn off the radio.
there is you just dont know about it. im going to start throwing out artists that i consider to be the best in their genre with a song i consider to be the best of theirs if you dislike everything i post thats cool this is heavily based on my opinion, however i have a feeling most of these will be artists you havent heard of.
friendly fires, jump in the pool
tool, the pot
adema, giving in
2 door cinema club, undercover martyn
teegan and sara, you wouldnt like me
skrillex, scary monsters and nice sprites
radiohead, pyramid song
birds of tokyo, sillhoettic(probably misspelled)
the glitch mob, drive it like you stole it
cold war kids, saint john(or hospital beds)
I listen to the alternative radio station here in Australia, so i have heard all of those songs.

And also, that Skrillex song, along with the bloody beetroots totally made me rethink my opinion of dance music recently, which i had already rethought and then un-rethought before...if that makes sense
yeah im guessing ur refering to triple j which is amazing. i really think australians and the uk are the ones paying most attention to the new music vibe thats coming through. anyway listen to stuff published by turbo recordings its literally all good if you like dancy stuff.
triple j FTW

im mostly just trying to ease myself in, and im loving dubstep atm, they bass breakdowns just send shivers.

I dont think it is that they are paying more attention, because honestly, i think that there is so much volume of indi music being released in the states that we never see that it would be hard to split the crap from the gold, not to mention that their radio stations are based around making boatloads of cash, which comes from listener numbers, which mostly tune into ryan secrest apparently

the mmm-bop thing was a joke, but my point was that just because it isnt popular doesnt make it great, like i said, everyone knows the clash, even though they were beaten by the archies, who are remembered as a bad joke and the idea of a "hit factory" taken to its logical conclusion, namely "if you cant find the performers you need, create them"

I honestly believe that the pop music of today will be forgotten the same way, while the gems beneath the surface will be the ones included in the time life collections

EDIT: Not that time life collections are the gauge of quality, just used as a point of reference

Ive always really disliked My Chemical Romance. When I found out they were headlining Leeds Fest and Id just spent £200 on a ticket, I nearly punched the computer of my desk.

The leader singers voice is so whiny and pubescent, and the rest of it is so... blehhhh. Heard it before, done better, now please go away so everyone can shut the fuck up about you.

Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, and Lamb of God. I used to love all these bands, but then moved onto more technical stuff. Now I can barely stand them. Their riffs sound so bland and simple, and hence uninteresting (to me, anyway. I can see why the masses would enjoy them).

The Killers

They have 2 or 3 decent songs, but the albums are full of filler, and they are absolutely awful live.

Understand, I have literally gone through thousands of bands because I have recieved many aggresive responses after saying it's no where as good in quality. All of them doesn't compare to the well known greats, some were decent but that's it.

However, I hope your right that there are gems somewhere, I will keep on looking as long as I breath.

I feel bad for today's youth. Popular music these days all just sound the same. It's like people forgot what good music was.
I don't.

They've all the great music thats come before them to look forward too, they've all the great music that's around now to enjoy and they've managed to skip a lot of the absolute crap that came out before. Popular music throughout time periods all sound the same, it's why theres always surges in the market.

Music nowadays is less about the quality than who has the biggest amount of money to make their music appeal to the widest audience. There is plenty of great music, we have as much excellent music being produced now than ever before, just because the radio only plays stuff you don't like, remember it's due to the fact that artist has the greatest amount of money behind them, making them more easily seen than less talented artists.

OT: I feel personally Odd Future, specifically the members that aren't Earl Sweatshirt. The rest, even Tyler are great, but they aren't the saviors of rap everyone makes them out to be. Rap didn't need saving and they are just another great hip hop group, not some kind of second coming for the genre.

Oh, and Linkin Park, I really wish that 13 year olds would realise their music is far less deep than what it really is. It's enjoyable, but they are not the most amazing band of all time either.

I always thought, visual style wise, that the game Infamous was like they gave one of the guys from Linkin Park his own superhero game. Y'know, Wigger Man or something like that.

Here we go.

No, there is no music released in the last 10 years I could call great, there is one I think but that's it. I have a list for this, there is plenty of music that falls into my good and some in my very good catagory, but nothing really special.

I don't listen to the radio anymore, it's heaps faster to just look for all the new stuff on the net and recommendations by people. *wink wink*

Who really cares? The Beatles aren't the greatest band of all time either, the best band ever is Nickelback.
Hm, I guess three ponies in a row would have been a stretch, but in the mean time, if you're really trying to pick a fight the way you are, one (me) could argue that Nickleback has been re-writing the same thing so many times with such slight variations that every album will end up having one song that stands out from all the others, but that's not to say it's still any good.

I feel as though I'll regret this, better change my icon...something with Rainbowdash...
There was video done that layered two songs from them, one from a previous album and one from a new one, literally the same sang with only slightly different lyrics.

OT: bruno mars, his voice gets annoying i don't know what it is about it it just irritates the fuck out of me not to mention his lyrics are usually nonsense.
Every single person I've ever meant that likes The Beatles would try to murder you with their words if you don't like them as well. Also, Nickelback. Lol!

I have to agree with Bruno Mars though... his first 'hit' was annoying in this way that it just seemed so forced, that as long as thousands of teenage girls like it, it doesn't matter that the song itself is rather bland and uninspired. Then there's his second one, in which he goes though a list of weirdly and disturbingly specific ways in which he'd kill himself for this girl, who wouldn't do the same for him. My only guess why, is because she doesn't view suicide as a valid form of affection and love.

I lol'd.

Unless you were being serious, in which case I pity you.

OT: Most over-rated musicians? Hmm... Lady Gaga, 50 Cent, Eminem, Justin Bieber.

Take your pick.

I don't listen to ANY music of today, so I think they're all, of all genres, overrated.
The Beatles is the greatest band in my world and I listen to their songs all the time mainly for the singing and lyrics.

So there's another reason: I don't like the singing of today.

The captcha of the day: contains lierwit.

I don't like 'insert name' music, but other people do, hes/shes so overrated! This is stupid, i think Beatles suck but thats just my opinion and apparently a lot of people think otherwise, that doesn't make them overrated.
