I'm 14, and I love playing older games. I just beat Duke Nukem 3D, (which I played when I was 4, but was too scared of the 4th level, and it was lost when I moved) am playing through Wolfenstein 3D, and I like trying out old games, even on the Atari 2600 (Indy 500 is awesome).

But, I am annoyed with how people my age do not know anything about the games that affected games played today. In fact, I mentioned DooM once, and one of my friends started screaming about how the walls face you. Not the enemies and sprites, but the walls. I was confused.

I positively loathed the Final Fantasy games, and I wasn't even the kind who'd call them "gay". I just said that I really didn't like them. Imagine how he'd react.

I guess you're right, I'm just surprised that a 13 year old wouldn't think an elf with a magical sword was cool, do they not read The Hobbit in primary school any more? Still, I do think we're probably all too concerned about what a thirteen year old said off handedly. People do change their minds after all.

Yeah, working yourself into a frenzy over a kid's words isn't a good idea. Still fun to discuss compared to "Who's better, Iron Man or Batman?", though.

Not all of us are are like that, but with us we can find it hard to play the old zelda's (or any old classic for that matter) without emulating as copys are quite expensive and you need a machine to play it on. But in my case i 100% agree with you i loath many people in my year for only playing fifa and cod, and when i showed one portal ,he hated for for and i qoute "cause you don't shoot people." I hate my genaration.

Well, I'm a younger gamer and I can certainly say that, while a disappointing number of us are like that, I can definitely say that I can tell a crap game from a good one and if you ever see that kid again then I'd recommend slapping him upside his face for giving younger gamers such a bad name.

Why because he is expressing his love for another and his hate for something else? If I ever see you I would like to give you a good slap. I never found to much fun out of legend of zelda, no I don't think it was the best game of all time, so now you hate me?

And here I thought this thread was going to be about how the U.S is going to become even further behind in schooling since we had to cut teachers; the first thing we cut is teachers, LOL no wonder we're so behind everyone in education.

O.T It irks me when people think that a game can only be good when it's given a 9 or 10 from everyone. A game like WWE doesn't have to be given a 10 from everyone to be fun especially to a kid. I do think children should play the old-school games to see what it was like, but they'd probably cry out "omg these graphics are teh sucks"
