Maybe I'm the only one...but how many of you feel that there are just too many new threads popping up? Every few minutes a new thread appears and maxes out at 40 posts (unless its mine, then it get zero).

No one thread usually gets any attention, and good threads are constantly being choked out by shitty ones, that rarely have a point. Too many new members on the site.

Unrelated note: here are some links to some of my recent threads that got litttle to no hits.
Here are the links, if you want to take a look. (hint hint)

But, so this isn't just self-promotion, heres some discussion: do you also feel like there are too many threads these days?

I remember the days when you would see all of your friends on a single thread...now all you see is strangers.

I don't know why I think this will be any more popular than any of my other threads, but here it is...if anyone is here to read it that is.

It depends; sometimes there aren't enough new threads. Perhaps you've just got some bad luck on your previous threads. You should take better notice of the times when people are on and when threads are created to find a perfect time to create a new one so that it sticks out.

Seems a strange motivation to start yet another thread.

I'm just sayin'.
Last ditch effort to get some of my threads recognized, and see where some of the other escapists stand on the subject of over-population.

I know the feeling, theres nothing more galling (is that a word? It is now!) then when a thread you've spent 45 minutes typing up bombs under a load of "whats your favourite sandwhich filling" threads.

Or when the crowd picks apart your OP. Thats annoying too.

So make new friends. Just because there's 10 new people you don't know doesn't mean you need to complain. I'm sure this site is big enough for more then just your friends and you.

Nah, you're thinking of Gilbert Munch. Never had any kind of raptor-related avatar, myself.
I am indeed!

Pike his avatar. It would suit.

I shall hear of no such thing! My avatar was lovingly crafted by [small]The Holiday Council[/small] ME, and noone else may have it!

and im sorry, but by posting links to things you have done, that classifies you as a spammer.
so Im conflicted, on the one hand youve brought up a decent thread(the irony in it is hilarious) but on the other hand youre a spammer.
do I hate you?
Heh, interesting conundrum isn't it.
In his second post he even stipulates that it's a last ditch effort to get his threads seen.

Anyway. The forum is rather fast paced at times, but you find that when people are interested in a thread they bookmark it and will venture back to it over the next few days and have a kind of discussion within the thread with the few others who visit it too.
Either that or people are dragged back in by someone quoting them.

I don't think there's anything that can be done or if anything really needs to or should be done to make threads stay on the first page of the thread list. I've lost a couple well thought out threads over the years and it was a little annoying to see a duplicate pop up and get more replies but frankly it really doesn't matter.

When you do find a thread that you like, bookmark it and stick with it for a little while. The thread maker will be thankful and you may be noticed by them next time you make a thread and they'll take more interest and possibly return the favor.

P.S. Don't bump your threads or other people's threads with low content posts.
