1. Henpecked Hou (JE)

So...much...laughing...

2. Sten (DA:O)

Your first encounter with the Qunari...And the best encounter. DA2's Qunari can't compare.

3. HK-47 (KOTOR)

Isn't he on every list?

4. Wild Flower (JE)

Possessed little girl, ftw!

5. Oghren (DA:O)

He's so much fun...

1. Mordin Solus - Ultimately, for being hilarious. He has some of the best dialogue sequences in Mass Effect 2, including "Scientist Salarian". However, my favorite of his is the one where he "lets you down easy" if you're a female character and you talk to him a lot.
2. Wrex - Wrex was just generally my favorite character in Mass Effect. I dunno, he was just pretty badass.
3. Deekin - Was one of the funniest Bioware characters to date. He was the only companion I used in the Neverwinter Nights expansions.
4. Dog - The Mabari warhound was actually my best character in Dragon Age: Origins, so I ended up liking him quite a bit. There would be times when my entire party would get taken out, and there would be Dog, kicking the shit out everyone, and winning the day.
5. Wild Flower - Personally I just like the concept of Wild Flower as a character. I forget a good deal of her dialogue, but she was my main companion in Jade Empire, particularly since I was a fan of the Demon Form styles, so we'd go demon on everyone's ass, together.

Mordin - I think like he does, Pragmatism over all else.
Tali - Would love a gf like that. Personality wise, not the whole living in a bubble and alien.
Shale - Best female character Bioware ever created.
Varric - I just thought it novel to have a smooth talking clean shaven dwarf for a change

....can't really think of a third so i'll just throw in
Jack - a flat chested bald female character in gaming that isn't big breasted eye candy? what?

1. Sir Roderick Ponce Von Fontlebottom the Magnificent Bastard

2. The Black Whirlwind

3. Qui the Promoter

4. Admiral Steven Hackett

5. Captain David Anderson

My first 3 choices are from Jade Empire and they're my favourite because they're all comedy gold, and my last 2 from Mass Effect are because I like the voice actors.

for me the ones that really stood out (in no particular order) are:

Deekin - NW1
Darth Reven - KOTR
HK-47 KOTR
Garrus - ME 1/2
Sandal - famous for having a vocabulary of one word for the entire game to express his feelings and perception of whats going on! DA:O

Special mentions:

Tali - ME 1/2
Joker - ME 1/2
Bishop - NWN2

Note: only played NWN series, KOTR, and DA:O so far. would love to try the rest of Bioware's products

Minsc from Baldurs gate. "Go for the eyes Boo!"
HK - 47. Great character. Meatbags... Shale feels like a homage to him sometimes.
Legion. I love robots, and a Character representing a entire race is interesting.
Moridin. He is scientist/spec.ops. Woah.
Morrigan was nice to. She always agreed with my Warden, and was rational.

Even if I always will hate DA2 for being such shit, and ME2 for taking away to many RPG elements, Bioware is quite good at characters.

Top 5 because choosing just one would be impossible.
Bioware is known for their great characters, but which ones really stood out for you?

1. Edwin - Baldur's Gate I & II. Almost everything this man said had me in stitches. His accent, his attitude, his vocabulary; everything was awesome. His personal quests were interesting and utterly hilarious, and seeing him awkwardly flirt with Viconia was priceless. Plus I love that 10 years later we still find bitchy Edwinas in Bioware games.

2. Shale - Dragon Age: Origins. The whole cast was great but she stood out the most. Her pathological hatred towards pigeons and her desire to squish everything coupled with a girlish love for shiny gems made her truly memorable. Also, she kicked total ass in combat.

3. Anders - Dragon Age: Origins: Awakenings. His "Ser Pounce-a-lot" croonings made me giggle. His party interactions were witty and endearing (and drove my other party members up the wall) and his voice acting was spectacular. His change in DA2 was lamentable - he's by no means a bad character, but he just doesn't measure up to his Awakenings version.

4. Xan - Baldur's Gate. Because who doesn't need a depressed pessimist mage in their party? "We're all doomed."

5. Irenicus - Baldur's Gate II. I can recite most of his lines by heart, not even joking. I can't say that he was the best villain ever (and he was a total pushover as a boss), but his motivation, back story, and voice made me respect him.

Honorable mentions are Deekin from Neverwinter Nights, Legion and Garrus from Mass Effect, Zevran and Teyrn Loghain from Origins, Varric and Merrill from DA2, and Haer'Dalis from Baldur's Gate II (I don't know why, but he grew on me over the years).

Lamentably I haven't played KotOR yet, I've heard that there are many great characters in that game.
Played DA2 yet? I shall mourn the Dragon Age: Awakening Anders. He is not the same anymore. :(
I shan't. He's better in DA2.

1) Tali'Zorah nar Rayya/vas Neema/vas Normandy of the Mass Effect series. She's adorable, and very well written. Also, bonus points for having the option to hug her.

2)Minsc from Baldur's Gate. That man is awesomeness incarnate. I mean, who else can break themselves out of prison with only five brain cells?

3)Alistair from Dragon Age. He's very well written, and, let's face it,he has a wicked sense of humour. "I'm a bastard!"

4)Paul Grayson from Mass Effect Ascension and Mass Effect Retribution. Never heard of him? Read the novels. Very well written character, the first time a character of fiction evoked any genuine emotion from me. The man that wrote the novels works for BioWare.

5)Legion from Mass Effect. Yeah,it's introduced in the endgame. So? It's just as well written as Tali. It is painfuly obvious that Legion has a stalker crush on Shep, which made me giggle.

1. Varric
2. Bianca
3. Joker
4. Loghain
5. Dog (BUT ONLY THE ORIGINS DOG! THE DOG IN THE SECOND ONE DID NOT SELL TO ME!)

Honorable mention goes to Flemeth (Or as I call her Kreia v2.0), Handmaiden and MANDALORE. BECAUSE MANDALORE IS A MAN'S MAN AND HE SHOOTS ANYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH HEAVY BLASTER FIRE! YEAAAH!

Edit. Also the Space Hamster. But not the ME one.

1. Garrus (ME 1&2) - Garrus was pretty cool in ME 1, but he became totally awesome in ME 2. He is by far my favorite
2. Mordin (ME 2) - I wasn't that interested in him the first run through the game, but after the second play through I really came ot like him. He's both humorous and I like how he thinks.
3. Tali (ME 1&2) - I was pretty interested by her in ME 1, alot more than Liara and Ashley. My interest in her only increased in ME 2.
4. Alistair (DA:O) - I've always loved Alistair's personality and sense of humor. Gotta love the snark. ("Yes swooping, is, bad...")
5. Not entirely sure about this one. While there are some characters that really stick out in my mind and that I like (the ones above), most of the others are quite so obviously placed as these. I still like alot of them, it's just I don't know which one should be 5th. You know who gets to be in 5th? Sandal. Yes, Sandal from DA:O (although I know he's also in DA 2, but I have yet to play it). At first he was just kind of a joke and a bit annoying. And there was that one scene towards the end. You know which one. My opinion of him jumped so much after that.

1.) Merrill from DA2 - the semi-Irish accent matched with a bit of light hearted childishness all wrapped up in a decent mage makes for a fun character. I'm still working through DA2 but I already like her a bit more than Isabela (although Isabela's outfit... grrrrrlllll)
It's not semi-Irish, it's Welsh.
Yep, you're right. Listened to it again, definitely Welsh. My bad.
