I would encourage anyone who mentions Dragonforce should listen to the following bands:

Helloween
Blind Guardian
Rhapsody (of Fire)
Firewind
Lost Horizon
Kamelot

Much better bands in the genre. Dragonforce is kinda just a parody of the genre gone horribly wrong.

Is there anyone here into metal (at least 5 bands) who's over 30? Or is it just a teenage rage thing? I found my music tastes really softened with age, and never thought that would happen. I went to NIN a couple of months back and it was good, but really didn't move me the way it used to.
Dude, I'm 29 this year and the Metal flows through my veins stronger than ever!

I will never 'grow out of' the music I love because sonically it makes me feel better than any drug you could offer me or any other form of art.

Metal is in some people's blood and they will proudly never stop loving it.

It is also constantly evolving and expanding, it is the only genre that excites me at the moment and I'm a fan of all music, even cheesy pop.

My heart beats in a double kick drum pattern and will do till the day I die.
You've got a point about the double kick. And that Metal is an exciting genre. I think it's just me who has life knocked out of them. Every now and then I find the spirit again though. Rock on.

1. The Dillinger Escape Plan
2. Refused
3.
4.
5.

With those being my first two, I really don't need a bottom three. They are amazing enough to fill up any top five on their own.

I was going to complain about the terrible lack of Power Metal in this thread, but you saved me from having to do that.

My own list, in no specific order

Altaria
Leverage
Dreamtale
Falconer
Freedom Call

I am adopting this as my own list, too. An awesome collection! Except replace Disturbed with System of a Down (OPINION).

xD
