Topics that basically lead to 'my country is better than yours', 'who is better: men or women' or anything along the lines of 'mine is better than yours' kind of BS.

Basically, though I've run across a few threads where it wasn't even a vs thread in the traditional sense. Some people gloating about how superior something is to everything else in a general manner, instead of ' is better than ' it's ' is ', almost the same thing except the traditional vs thread can spark interesting arguments or discussions.

So, vs threads and superiority/ego threads.

I my oppionion censorship is always bad. So no, no thread no matter how stupid should be band unless it violates the forum rules.

"Which TF2 character do you play as?"

Who honestly gave a shit the first time, and who keeps finding this interesting for the fourteenth-bazillionth time?

id rather see 1000 religion threads than a USE THE SEARCH BAR post.
This....

....And to clarify...I've also seen "This thread is OLD" posts...which seems to punish someone who actually used the search bar and resurrected a dying thread, no??? *ponder*

OT-No banning...just let the mods wield banhammer on those individuals who have a history of deliberately inciting flame-y-ness...
as much as i wish a janitor could go through and decide who was a assfuck and who wasnt its not possible or fair :(.

None really, especially not the "controversial" subject of politics, ethics, religion etc.

This is the only online community I've ever found capable of discussing these subjects intelligently without threads going down in flames. It's the main reason I come here, I might not join in the discussions, but that mostly due to not getting toa thread until it's 5 pages long and my stance has been made (better mostly) by several other people.

Threads hating on Halo.

Yes, we get it, you sucked at Halo and resent its popularity but neglect to name a better FPS (hint: because an FPS better than Halo 3 is an FPS that doesn't exist), can we move on?

I got one: I hate Halo/Twilight/Popular Beloved thing threads, the OP's always thinking they're special flowers in a barren field BUT YOU'RE NOT!
When was the last time a twilight thread was on the Escapist? I second the Halo threads, and il chuck Half-life and Left 4 Dead 2 ones on that.

I wholeheartedly support banning certain topics from the forums. Start with this one.

Anyone who's been on This site for a while knows what I'm talking about. The kind of threads that have been repeated over and over again, or trying to cause 'intelligent controversy' when people have already heard that argument a million times (we're looking at you, religious threads), or just plain ol' troll threads.

So, which do you think causes the most annoyance on The Escapist, and what types of threads should be banned?

Personally, I'd say religious threads: whatever message your trying to give, and however intelligent the topic may be, all its going to do is incite a flame war.
Pointless threads that achieve nothing, like for example this one.

None, censorship is bad. I'm all for stopping someone from being hurtful or the like after they've already started, but don't you dare start censoring my interwebz before anyone's done anything; especially on a forum that is devoted to open thought, ideas and discussions such as The Escapist. (said tongue in cheek of course)

Halo threads. It has had every detail discussed fully (apart from Captain Keye's furry fetish)

Twilight threads. I personally hate the series and believed they ruined vampires, but just shut the fuck up about it already.

Religion threads. Seen it all before. It's all been discussed.

Politics threads. Same reasons as religion threads, usually.

Vs. threads. Just no.
