Religion, I'm Catholic (But not to the point where I got to church each Sunday and such) and while I don't care if someones an Atheist or a buddhist or a Jew I'm just really sick of people going on and on about how much they hate God and how much atheism rules, I mean it's just gets annoying after a while. Though one topic I hope they never ban are those ones related to dating.

Huh! And for a moment there I thought you may actually have read those posts or even understood what the word 'atheist' meant.

Religious threads where people just keep rehashing the same [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Problem_of_evil] arguments [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascal%27s_wager] forever [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell%27s_teapot] and EVER [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teleological_argument].

Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. There's a depressing number of people here who actively hate God, the concept of God and of course all religion, and take every opportunity to make their oh-so-superior view known to the peons.

Of course, one could replace God with just about everything else. This site has no shortage of elitists.

1) If you ban threads, people have less to discuss, people leave the forum. I mean, unless you prefer it as a desert of inactivity.

2) New people join all the time. You might have seen the debate eighteen times, they may never have.

3) People enjoy hammering away pointlessly at the same old debates on metal, Halo and religion, that's why they keep cropping up. Don't be such a killjoy.

4) If you're not interested in a thread, don't read it, because no-one's forcing you to. You don't get any prestige and you aren't any cleverer for adding comments to threads like "SEEN THIS BEFORE, BORED NOW" either.

The less you post on a thread you find silly the quicker it goes away. Unless you actually want to post on said thread then post otherwise don't.

Also search bar nazis aren't always great although a good 70% of the time they are.

Look I'm just stating the fact that I'm getting sick to the stomach of these forums being used to discuss religion (Mainly the hating of it) and you're not helping with that either. I'm not gonna bust my balls typing "People with religious difference" or something. I made my statement, like it or lump it.

Muharhar...Yeah go ahead strip yourself of freedom.

So the forum topic list will get etnic, religously and kiddie cleansed (must be my german heritage :)...

So why not instead just grow up and DISMISS Threads you don't want to read... I'm able to do it and so are YOU...
Then you also don't have to put all the idiots in their places...pfeewh...(I'm really interested in the time a poster passes to stop posting after 3-4 of his topics got NO answer)

But to make it into a little constructive post: As i use the topic-box much just insert a filter with the magic words: hardcore, casual, religion, communism and metal. It won't get all "nasty" topics but will surely help a little...

P.S.: I am really concerned about freedom of speech on this forum btw.

I got one: I hate Halo/Twilight/Popular Beloved thing threads, the OP's always thinking they're special flowers in a barren field BUT YOU'RE NOT!
Although I do quite agree with this.
The Twilight/Halo hatred seems to be one that needs to be expressed by everyone and their mother.
Whatever happened to hating something without telling the whole world?

Anyone who's been on This site for a while knows what I'm talking about. The kind of threads that have been repeated over and over again, or trying to cause 'intelligent controversy' when people have already heard that argument a million times (we're looking at you, religious threads), or just plain ol' troll threads.

So, which do you think causes the most annoyance on The Escapist, and what types of threads should be banned?

Personally, I'd say religious threads: whatever message your trying to give, and however intelligent the topic may be, all its going to do is incite a flame war.
i wish you the best of luck in your impossible task

none - its free speech and opinion. IF YOU DON'T LIKE A THREAD DON'T READ AND POST IN IT! It's easy like that. Why ban something if you can perfectly ignore it?
