After reading these comments, I've just kind of accepted that BioWare, like so many game companies, has a damn near unpleasable fanbase. What the hell do you guys want in the animations department anyway? The animations in ME1 and 2 were FAR worse than this video, and I thought the chatter added an effect that was far better than the stoic silence most squads in video games go for.
There seems to be confusion on what exactly a trailer is. A trailer gives you a peek at the game, but people seem disappointed it didn't physically drop a controller into their hands and let them play. I mean, come on, it gave you a look at what combat will be like in the game, and frankly I think it looks very good. Better than ME2 at least.
Thank you sir. Thank you for saying what needed to be said but will most assuredly fall on deaf ears.
The game's environmental detail was off the charts awesome. DID NOBODY notice the environment showing the signs of combat taking place? Those are nice touches. Most rpg's and shooters etc are content to let you blow up a barrel or two with some well placed shots or a grenade toss but moments later, the only signs a battle took place are the dead enemies at your feet.
I also LIKE the confirmation of commands being given quickly and fluidly... your team was working with you and even just a statement like "I got this one!" demonstrates active participation by your squadmates, not the usual nobody says a word except maybe a few repeated phrases from the comic relief guy that get stale 20 minutes into the game. I like that it felt more cinematic, more detailed.
Gamers these days are so spoiled that we don't even notice icing on the cake anymore because we want our cake to have cupcakes on it because cake isn't GOOD enough for us anymore. Yet, if they just released ME3 as just ME2 with more missions to continue the story, we would complain about that collectively as well. There just is no pleasing some people.
The worst thing is, yes we have freedom of speech, but does it never occur to anyone that just because you CAN criticize that you don't HAVE to criticize at every simple opportunity? Don't like the game or how it looked? Okay fine. But there's almost a physical NEED some people have to being a joy-kill for anyone else and they'll happily pipe in every pessimistic thought, no matter how trivial it might be, because on some baser level, they derive satisfaction from having diminished someone else's experience.
