Emptying his magazine, Tyler ran to the manhole right after hearing the click. He slid feet first into it, making sure not to damage his gear. Landing with a splash, he collapsed against the sewer wall and tried to catch his breath.
"Tyler!" Kelsey shouted, rushing up to hug him. As he returned it, she leaned back to notice some blood. "Did you hit your nose on something?" He reached up to feel, but his nose wasn't broken or anything.
"Nah, it's fine, but my side's killing me..." he trailed off, feeling a hole in his vest. "************, I got hit. Help me get my vest off." The two of them struggled to get his gear off and keep it dry, and without hesitation he pushed his M4's hot barrel against the wound.
"Are you crazy?" she scolded, grabbing the rifle.
"Bleeding should stop now, but that bullet messed me up inside. We gotta get out of here soon."
