I'm not being completely serious, but its hard not to become frustrated with this place sometimes. Its a frustration coming from having my rights trampled on a daily basis by a country that thinks of itself as a beacon of liberty. That and it seems to contain a LOT of idiots like in the OP, or morons that think of all Muslims as terrorists.

Apparently there is a fair amount of Americans claiming that the Tsunami currently ravaging Japan can be seen as payback for an attack in WW2.

Yes, the two nuclear weapons used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki is more than enough "payback" which I wouldn't even call it that, more like: Gross misuse of nuclear weapons that shouldn't have been used in the first place.

No, not all Americans or even a large percentage even think that this, in anyway, has to do with Pearl Harbor and/or God and anyone who thinks that the few represented in that image is a nation's population as a whole is just about as ignorant as the people in said image.

Also, my support goes out to every Japanese citizen that has been effected by this disaster and hope them the best.

I think it's really funny how some on this forum are actually lumping these few total dickheads with an entire nation of culturally diverse people.

Two sides of the same coin.

I have met many Americans and am proud to call some my friends -- they are very humane and intelligent people.

I think some of us here need to remind themselves that there are assholes and saints everywhere.

This is true I guess. (I mean, you just have to look to Barack Obama to know that America isn't ALL bad) But seriously, I can think of no other country that could spawn people that are so stupid, ignorant and just plain shitty all rolled into one!

The OP claims that he's not trying to make America look bad in this thread, but I respectfully disagree. I DO think that's his purpose. And this just needs to freaking stop. We get it, the world hates America. But using a tragedy such as this to play up one's own negative opinions of America is not much better than the people you quote using the tragedy to play up their negative opinions of Japan. No matter where these assholes are from, the OP shouldn't have even created this thread and given such ideas attention. People post stuff like this to Facebook in order to be read publicly. By creating this thread, all it does is give more attention to such comments. If you don't want to see comments like those anymore, don't give them the time of day. In one sentence... seriously, can't we all just get along?

Not everyone on America is like these people, there are American's I know who I am proud to call friends. But this is one of those "Only in America" moments. There are good and bad things about every country yes, but America certainly has an aptitude for this sort of behavior that I don't think I've seen anywhere else.

This is probably another example that some Americans really didn't pay much attention in History.
Yes, they bombed Pearl Harbour, and in retaliation, the Americans Nuked Japan. Since then however, trade between the two countries and relations have been made. In the past 66 years, both sides have made bridges.

Also, those thinking that natural events can be regarded as payback for anything really need to research basic geography.
