I.. uhm.. okay?

I think I just lost any last bit of serious respect for the military with this, although Batman is pretty damned awesome.

Also, if this program is fully implemented, do you get free laryngitis treatments and vacations every so often for having to copy Christian Bale and his deep throat tone so much?

Batman doesn't use guns. I hope they know that they are going to have to throw those out to be like Batman. A small price to pay when you're the Mothereffing Dark Knight, but still.

So in essence what we have here is the real-world equivalent to the army of Milla Jovovich's in Resi but replaced with Batmen... Oh my science...

Also, did he really have to say the word 'BATMAN' so many times in that article, come on!

Oh Adam West, BAHAHAHAHA!

Hooray for militarism? Does anyone on this site have any critical faculties at all? I thought that was supposed to be the appeal of The Escapist: intelligent gaming commentary.

Instead here is a rah-rah article about some gross misuse of taxpayer money to build some sort of -- whatever the hell it is -- and all the punch-drunk writer can slaver over or comment about is the idiotic acronym that refers to some comic book hero.

Disappointing.

That sounds really cool, but I think I'd be able to take this article a lot more seriously if Adam West wasn't standing next to it hamming things up.
This. They could at least have his animated incarnation.

If this really happens, then war is about to get way more awesome.

Also, I see some truly awesome videogames taking inspiration from this, I mean, Batman as a soldier, it's like COD meets Arkham Asylum.... the mind boggles.
Holy army batman, throw me your makeshift batarang so i can take out that suicide bomber from a distance!"

ot: this is pretty fucking sweet...although i doubt it will really lighten the load by much, if they are truly carrying around 160 pounds, i doubt they will get below 110 pounds to be cost effective.

I thought Batman didn't kill any people.
Hopefully they'll go for that next. An army of dark crusaders who travel the world exclusively beating people to a pulp is one I'd be proud to give 20% of my tax dollars to.

So the Air Force wants an army of Batmen, the Marines want an army of Robert Heinlein style power troopers and... what fictional creation does the army want to emulate?
The Imperial Guard?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

True and hilarious!

Batman: the solution to all problems.
Also, the best acronym ever. Now all we need is SHIELD.

I'm not entirely sure I want the airforce to be full of people who are as good at thinking through situations as Bruce Wayne. It could lead to some much worse wars. (unless you taught them not to kill, that would be interesting)

And quoting philosophy books isn't? The only difference is who you're conforming with.

As opposed to writing entire articles based around quoting Air Force press releases? If you can't see a distinction, well, here is a nice cover-shooter game for you.

A distinction between starting a conversation about an amusing but otherwise unimportant news story and acting elitist when people are amused by it? Yeah, I think I see one.
