That's a grand vision they have there.
Next thing they'll want us to physically go in their offices to play their games under direct supervision.
And you know what, Ubi? I still hate your guts for not releasing the ending for the last Prince of Persia game on PC.
I resent them more for making me bash my keyboard to death in button mashing fights...seriously bashing a button on a controller works, on a keyboard it breaks after a few times...and wtf is with this bs of having the game show xbox buttons on the PC?!

Oh and I can't wait until they decide the servers are costing them too much so they decide to take it offline or decide to charge you a monthly fee.

Can I get a "Fuck You" aimed at Ubisodoff? Preferably with an added "Go to Hell?"

Also if your net goes down for any reason, you can't play.

You want to download something in the background and play a single-player game? Well, don't be surprised if it doesn't save for 30 minutes.

There are NO upsides of this shitty system.
No upsides to you, except that they are finding ways to not charge the few people that pay for the game $150 a copy to still make money.

I don't advocate this system, but I do see the advantages of not installing extra crap on my system. They are moving away from local copies anyway.

Soon you won't even install anything on your computer anymore. Personally I hate the idea. I still go back and play some old games. I would hate to see them lost for all time due to a simple lack of revenue. Mr CEO sees only the red line, not the fun I have with the game. He is going to have the kills switch thrown on the game the minute it proves it is no longer as profitable as others.

As far as your last argument:
A download is not going to effect your upload speed. They also don't have to store the entirety of the saved game on the remote server nor will they want to. They only have to store the core of it. Where you are, achievements, ranks, all that other jazz can still be stored on the local machine. Do that and you are looking at more of a 100Kb or sized file being transfered back and forth as you save and load.

What happens when the internet fails? Or what will happen when they decide to ditch their system in the future? If anyone is familiar with Voyetra Record Producer, you should try reinstalling it. You can't. You can't ever install Record Producer again, ever. This is because the registration process requires it to connect to a website that no longer exists, because the company got bought out and the new company decided to completely redo their website.

PC gaming is dead, why? its to easy to pirate on it and people are to willing to just steal. I know I would just say screw it never make a game for it again. Also outside of a small few, PC games don't make nearly the same amount of money. Its sad but I blame the fans for the death of PC gaming, not the industry.
You know what I find funny? They never say from which country the most downloads occur, they simply say that their game has been pirated X times. What if the country with the most downloads is actually a country outside the targeted audience? For example, in my country, there's no real gaming industry. Games are overpriced and so are consoles.

An Xbox 360 arcade costs 500 dollars here and we don't even have Xbox Live support. An old Xbox 360 game is the same price as a new one(60 bucks) and the price for a recently released game is 80 to 90 fucking bucks.

New PC games do sometimes arrive but they are always priced at 60, sometimes going as far as 70 dollars.

The next time you say "PEOPLE JUST STEAL!" ask the actual demographics and see where most of the downloads occurred before jumping on the "PEOPLE STEAL BCZ COMPANIES SAY SO!!!1111"

I should also mention Romanians earn less than any other European country.

Oh yay... this means that while the pirates will find a way within hours to get games free with local saves/no online auth/etc. I'm going to be stuck with a useless game if I ever stray anywhere without an internet connection (which is usually a month or more per year for me).

I would like to send Ubisoft a message on behalf of all the legitimate customers who will be affected by this crappy scheme:

Fuck you, you're not getting any of my money anymore, in fact I'm now ashamed that I ever parted with money for your games beforehand.

Seriously, this will not stop pirates, now what do we think? Will it take: 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours or 24 hours for the pirates to crack these games and DRM and have offline saves working perfectly?

The nice thing about Steam, though, is "offline mode".

I don't need it, but my two other gaming friends do.

Saving on a server?

You can actually fuck off Ubisoft.
How do I play offline?
What if the server is down?
etc etc.

The internet really is interfering way too much with games.
Pretty much this. I can tolerate the authentication and activations, but remotely stored saves just seems like an incredibly stupid idea, what with the internet issues this guy mentioned and all.

I'll be blunt.

[HEADING=1]I WILL PIRATE ANY GAME THAT HAS THIS FEATURE.[/HEADING]

My connection is horrible, and there is no way in hell that I'm going to download my save files, AND TO TOP IT OFF Steam is already doing this! What if I buy the game off steam?!

If they are taking such steps to avoid piracy, then fuck them. If you're going to make the customer suffer beyond belief, then you're not getting my money AND I'm adding myself to the Statistic.

Fucking idiots. I'm ashamed that I bought Assassins Creed 1 and Far Cry 2. No more money for you idiots.

Hot Damn Shamus is a psychic.

I personally, as someone who loves PC gaming and think its better, thinks the industry Better just abandon the platform.

But they DO turn a profit, and that's good enough.

Besides I'd bet that for any given game, 75% of the copies on computers are legit.

This argument annoys me. Every time I see it I'm thinking "Right, so driving is unfair now because some people don't have a car?".

Its a stupid argument. If you don't have internet, bully for you.

The whole downtime arguments are fine though, those aren't the fault of the "USER".

Here's a thought, have it connect to steam, like other games do. Because we don't want fifty freaking website accounts to manage!

Fighting against pirates, fine. But storing saved data on a remote server? That's just stupid. Then there's also the fact that not all gaming rigs have an internet connection, as some people want to protect their computer that way from viruses, so authenticating a game online is, once again, a bad idea.

Nice try, fellas. Better luck next time?
you're saying any time a computer is online its under threat of a virus? this is a good idea, and if you have access to internet (which you do) then don't complain for other people.

Screw ubisoft, this makes it pretty easy to pretty much dismiss every single one of their games.

It's more like "In order to drive a car, you will now need to have a radio installed and at all times on. If it ever goes off, if the batteries ever run out of power then the car will stop. Those who do not have a radio installed will not be able to use their car"

By the way, your analogy doesn't make sense. How will letting people with no internet or limited access to internet play the game affect those who have internet? It won't affect them at all; your analogy fails.

There's always a chance someone will get in hitching a ride on an automatic update or for shits and giggles. And why shouldn't I complain for other people?
