....I think I lost faith in humanity around the time that girl was fined, not stoned to death for drowning puppies for fun. Yes everyone is beautiful in their own way. What this site is doing is wrong not cause their discriminating though that certainly is bad enough. It's cause their continuing the notion that beauty has certain standards, that to be 'beautiful' you have to be a certain: height, weight, hair color, etc. You don't it's part, again, of out moded and out dated concepts. I personally don't use dating sites, cause I'm an anti-social misfit so damaged by past relationships, and by his father, that he can't connect to another human being in any way more meaningful then a 'hi'. But that's a topic for another time.

Anyways, the people who made this decision can go jump in a fire.

Well, he is a fucking douchebag judging by the post, but I am a fucking douchebag too judging by how I manage to insult everyone around me with half a sentence, so maybe I shouldn't criticise others too much. BTW, life is just like that: some people are goodlooking, some are not, and some of those who are not are downright fuck-ugly. This shouldn't decide their "social standing", but it does. Why? 'Cause we're just another kind of animal. It comes naturally. And non-good-looking people will always, inevitably have it harder. And sometimes, assholes treat them like some kind of inferior subhuman shit that doesn't realise it when it's insulted.

Eh, if membership is predicated on conforming to a certain specification of looks, it is only natural that you cannot be a member if you do not conform to it. Granted, it's shallow to base a dating (assuming that you want anything close to emotional involvement in the relationship) website on. I imagine that it wouldn't have been too strenuous to be a little more polite about it.

"We have sincere regret for the unfortunate people who were wrongly admitted to the site and who believed, albeit for a short while, that they were beautiful," he added.
Anyone who has the balls to say that, presumably while sticking both middle fingers up at his own PR department, I can at least respect if not agree with.

There are too many companies out there who would put out carefully worded statements through various representatives to try and keep their image intact, I wish there were more people in the world who would just say "fuck all of you: my site, my rules".

Would make politics SO much more fun.

Ya, because people should be able to go wherever they want. "Oh, you have no right to kick me out of your author club just because my only book is a turd on a paper." The site's goal is for beautiful people to meet eachother. Nobody has the right to make them allow uglies in. So cry, cry, cry.
Accept beauty is something that is in the eye of the beholder and as a dating site they have just as much right to find a date as you or I do.

Not to mention that if beauty comes at the price of being an extreme snobby to others, then I'd rather stay average thank you very much.
With that logic, everybody in high school should be on the football team if they want to, regardless of skill. One could say skill is in the eye of the beholder just as much as beauty. A "right to find a date"? Ya, because this is clearly the only way to find a date.

You might be the one who reported me for trolling. Whoever did, I didn't realize not agreeing with somebody made me a troll. First warning I have gotten since joining years ago. What does that tell you?

Ugly people do not have more rights than attractive people. Why can't there be a site where attractive people can meet other attractive people, without everyone else popping in? It's not like there is only a select few dating sites. It's a huge industry. Why get worked up if one of them has more requirements to be a member other than "Must be alive". Who is to say I can't sign a dog up? Hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'll just say it's a very unique looking person.

I get a lot of heat for what I'm saying, and I don't really care, because it says more about the people reporting me than it does me. Maybe I'm just more comfortable with how I look, and they are only upset about this because of the "Ugly Person Agenda". Whatever. I have lost respect for whoever would report me for having a different opinion. God forbid not everybody thinks the same way.

A website for narcissistic assholes...

I am disappoint.
Now it's just a matter of waiting for one of Those Guys that don't like the Escapist but choose to frequent it anyway to point out that "you're using one".

I'm ever so glad Those Guys aren't me.

OT: Site owner is a douche and runs a site for douches to fall in love and have potentially douchey children raised on the idea that surface value is paramount. It's not exactly good news, but... at least no-one's died? Something like that, anyway.

The guy's a misguided dick, that's all I can really say on the matter.
Hate to break it to you, but those douches won't fall in love. It'll strictly be physical attraction, they'll fuck, have douchey kids and the whole thing will play out like some tame version of The Aristocrats, but instead of shit and piss and cum and blood, it'll just be the two douches having douchey children, then turn around and cheat on each other behind each other's backs, and then when they find out, it'll just create an metric assload of drama and fists will be thrown and catfights will be had... which now sounds less like a tame version of the Aristocrats and more like an episode of MTV's Jersey Shore, except less Guido and more Hollywood.

To the vapid asshole members of beautifulpeople.com, enjoy your beauty while you can. Beauty fades and when that beauty fades, you will have NOTHING in your empty, meaningless lives but the memories of just how much of a vapid douchebag (or baggette) you were when you took your beauty for granted. And to the owner of the website, I hope somebody stuffs a rabid Tasmanian devil down your trousers and may you leave me all of your money from this vapid affair so I can donate it to the people of Calgary so they can afford to move somewhere decent.

No, not everyone is beautiful, the site stated it was for "beautiful people".

Some people are more attractive than others, just a fact in life, getting pissy about is a bit silly IMO.
This. I have no reason to think I would have a snowballs chance in hell of being accepted to that site but whatever. Let the snobby pricks hang out where they want. They have the right to admit whoever they want to their site just as I have the right to think they should all be hit by a bus.

You know how some places have those signs that say "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"
It means that they're a private company, so they can basically do whatever the heck they want (with exceptions, of course :p). It may not be just, but that's just how things work...

If it were a site like eharmony or others more centralized on matching people with similar interests and stuff, but its not. It's a site called "BeautifulPeople.com", what do people really expect. Though, that Greg Hodge sounds like an ass...

1) The football team is reserved for those who earn their spot through hard work. I don't see much hard work in looking pretty. Especially since some people are just BORN with looks and have to do nothing to get them.

2)That you were trolling? Why are you asking me about this?

3)You're right. Their equals. Therefore one group shouldn't be discriminated against over the other. Also, because its a dating service and even people who aren't all that attractive have the right to find someone if they want to. They have no right to be discriminated against because of their looks. And those who do discriminate people based on looks are probably never gonna find love because they'll be too goddamn picky and they've already proven to have a personality equal to that of a boulder.

4)God forbid you look beyond the cover. Your comment wasn't just an opinion, it was offensive. You were attempting to get a flaming response with your post and you deserved your warning.

What in this day and age defines beauty? Too much make-up and expensive clothing? Looking like a thousand pound brothel worker must be great /sarcasm.

Well, no doubt about the fact that the guy was an asshole. Calling the incident a "Shrek Virus" kind of leaves no other altenative.

That being said i don't think it is wrong. There is an objective element in beauty and how attractive someone are, symmetry, desirable qualities and what not. If the website has a policy of only including objectively attractive people then it would be false advertising to include not-so good looking people.

Who is to say that attractive people can't have their own little niche of the dating site market? There's specific sites for everything and everyone else so how is this in any way concerning those not involved in the incident and/or site?

Everyone? Because I've seen my fair share of ugly and some of it. Just a fraction is on peoples faces, hence the term "Ugly people".
Now I understand that there are more qualities to humans than pure aesthetics and that someone could be a really nice person without looking "good". However; some people are ugly. End of story.

They have odd standards of beauty on that site. My friend who is one of the most beautiful people I've seen got voted off that site. I have nothing against the site or Greg, but I just don't understand the standards.

Personally, I'm fine with this.

If you're so superficial that beauty is the only thing that really matters to you, then I'm glad you have a dating site all to yourself. That way, if I decide to look into online dating in the future, I'll be much less likely to run into a similar person.

That and "beauty" isn't exactly an objective metric. Many of those bleached-blond, size 0, anorexic twats that (probably) still populate the site would probably fill me with so much disgust that I, personally, would vote them out in a heartbeat, while I'm sure there's at least a few ordinary-looking girls, who got the boot because their dress size is actually a positive integer, that I would rate significantly higher.

Overall, I don't have anything specifically negative to say about the website, other than that I really can't stand blondies. I don't know what it is. Maybe the degree to which I despise worthless celebrities like Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton has conditioned a hate response against low levels of melanin.
