That bit made me laugh.

I've got to say I feel sorry for all of those guys.

When the website is called "Beautifulpeople.com" I'm actually not surprised. Some people are naturally better looking then others, that's how life works unfortunately. If people can't handle the criticism that people don't think they are good looking, don't post pictures on the internet, sorry to be so blunt but it's simple as that.

That and lets face it, the guy who created this site is clearly some kind of narcissistic douche who thinks he's from superior race or something
Thank you kindly, sir voice of reason. Dating sites are, and always have been, a joke. Its a place by compulsive liars to meet compulsive liars, and honestly, regarding the beauty issue...look in the mirror folks. Not everyone's Hollywood. They don't even have to be narcissists to point it out - they're just open enough to say what most other people are thinking. This is not a negative quality, and someday hopefully that curtain will be lifted from 'politically correct' society.

Also, first post since they changed captcha to support........advertisements. If you're going to lose faith in humanity, lose it for that rather'n someone booting dog-ugly folks off a site so he could feel like he was being honest when he rented the domain name.

I wonder who will populate the dating site after they boot all the uglies out? It seems like they're alienating their target audience, namely people that can't get a date, which just seems like bad business sense to me.

So it's at, what? -80 or something now?

OT: Greg Hodge can take a running jump into a septic tank with that kind of attitude. I bet he was that guy in high school who would have dated his own reflection when he wasn't working out in the gym.
I could probably make it on the site, but would there be anyone there worth talking to? Probably not.
Then again, not that there seemed to be on any other dating site either.

this is the second sleaviest thing ive heard all day! the entire site must be a paradox anyway, as beautiful people don't exist on dating sites.

"More than 30,000 people have been banned from a dating website which says it's exclusively limited to beautiful users."

Greg Hodge, the site's managing director, said: "We got suspicious when tens of thousands of new members were accepted, many of whom were no oil painting.

"We responded immediately, repairing the damage from the Shrek virus and putting every new member [to the vote].

What the hell Internet?! Everyone is beautiful, they don't need you telling them whether they are or not.

Ouch. Man, that's awfully cold. I mean I know it's called beautifulpeople.com, but geez. Why don't you just go visit each of those people you booted off and kick them in the face while you're at it?

No, everyone is not beautiful. Life isn't some crappy Christina Agulera song. Ugly people exist, I can assure of this because I'm one of them.

Furthermore, it's this guy's private website. He's allowed to limit members by whatever criteria he wants. If people don't like it, they can go make their own dating site and let in whoever they want. They can go make an "ugly people only" dating site, or a site for everyone, or whatever. No reason to be mad at a private club for being private.

Not everyone is beautiful but everyone certainly is a work of art, its all open to intepretation. That being said there are sometimes there is art that just should not have been made.

It's a private community. I don't see the problem.
If you can have a website for "tall people" measuring 6'6 and up, and remove those who don't fit the qualifications, why not for "beautiful" people.

I see no issue. If a service guarantees a certain exposure to a certain demographic, it's in their best interest to maintain that guarantee, even if the service itself is shallow and somewhat pitiful.

Well you can't call it "beautiful people" if unattractive people are there

And its not like they got charged for signing up, and then got rejected with no refund, so honestly its all fair play, its HIS website, so he can do what HE wants!

Do you complain that Mensa doesn't let in people of average or low intelligence?
Well no, because people can help having low intelligence.

I can never really understand why this website can create such a fuss on the internet, I guess it strikes a nerve with a lot of people or something and they forget that it's a free country we live in.
People not being allowed to join a website is more non-freedom than freedom.

RandV80 said:
The internet will happily jerk off to all manner of attractive people!
Not everyone. I do not.

The site was for "beautiful people", its right there in the URL
True, but people can't help how they're born. It's not right that these people will never be allowed to use the website ever in their lives, just because they're not lucky enough to be born good-looking. Similarly, if there was a website that was only for white people, that would be racist, right? So I don't see why making a website that's only for good-looking people is okay. Especially seeing as people that aren't good-looking already have a less-fortunate life than good-looking people.

Togs said:
I mean how would we like it if this site was suddenly swamped by a bunch of jocks?
People aren't born as jocks. But people that are beautiful/non-beautiful are born that way and can't help it. And still, jocks wouldn't be banned from the site, joining is their right. If they happen to have an interest in gaming then they can join a gaming forum. Just like non-good-looking people have the right to date people.

And you can get as red in the face as you want mate, but its the way the world works- people are judged on silly, inconsequential things, whether it be hair colour, religion, class, race, parentage or a hundred other things. Its how the human mind has learnt to make sense of the world around it.
I know, and it does annoy me. I'm just less compliant to accept it than most.
