Uncharted. A lot of people here know about it and like it, but gamers who I talk to IRL either hate it or have never even heard if it.

I thought Prey was unbelievably racist toward native Americans

I think I might be the only person on this freaking planet who liked Advent Rising

I have to mention one of the most fun games I ever played, and still installed it tho it was released in 2002:

Stronghold Crusader, a hybrid of RTS and light castle sim. Set in the crusades, it features both European and Arabic forces to play with and against. It's incredibly deep, but intuitive, fun and easy to play and there are very many game options. You can create your own scenarios within already made maps (of which there are a massive number of already) and fight with up to seven AI controlled enemies or partners. There are no difficulty settings; instead the enemies you choose, who you team up with and how you set the resources determines the challenge. Then you can just settle on building an ever-expanding castle in the Castle Builder mode, or take on four "story-driven" historical campaigns which follow the events of the crusades. Then you can create your own maps and it even featured online support (thoug I don't believe there are any living servers left).

And of course, the granddaddy of underappreciated gems, System Shock 2, though I think this has already been mentioned and will be mentioned many times over.

Grandia II (Sega Dreamcast), my all time favorite JRPG, and yet, rarely makes people's radar

Voodoo Vince [not that Vince is exactly recent but it's all I got]
Yea, but it is f**king good. Agree with that. Perfect Dark those that don't think it is, it is a game I have to explain everytime I might mention it. I still put it as the best FPS I have every played is why I might bring it up in passing. Kameo is one no really appericated, but love.

Alot of the games in my library I consider underappreciated. My favorites though;
Jade Empire (It always seems to get overshadowed by KotOR, at least to me.)
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II
Lord of the Rings; The Third Age
Champions of Norrath
Onimusha Series

Zone of Enders.

See, Zone of Enders was a cool game that was just TOO short and ended at a point that left the player feeling completely ripped off.
I'd almost suppressed the memory. Reminding me of Zone of the Enders will put me in a bad mood for at least a week. Loved that game, could have been so much more, could have been a great series...

Shadowrun (the old RPG not the crappy class based shooter)
On that note, Shadowrun (the GOOD class based shooter, not the old RPG).

It was overpriced for just a multi-player game, but Jesus H. It was incredibly fun. Having someone snipe at you and then just teleporting through the floor? It doesn't get any crazier than that.

Hey guys, I've (literally) just finished Prey, one of what I would call the great underappreciated gems of recent gaming history. This game is really great, but I can't remember hearing anything about it or seeing it advertised. I think the only mention I heard of it was a pasing reference in a yahtzee video or something. the same is true for the original condemned; I bought it from a bargain bin as a random purchase based on what I read on the back of the box, and fucking loved it.
anyody else want to recomend me some good games that are similarly unnappreciated? (inb4 Psychonaughts)
My game in development.

You might want to be careful about this. I've seen you promote your game in quite a few threads now and a moderator just may take notice soon too.
Perhaps, but it is on-topic and rather the only way to get feedback on it so I don't have much choice in going about it. Thanks for the concern though.
If I had found your thread on my own, I might have actually given your game a chance. As it stands, I never will play it. Good day.

Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth.

I enjoyed the hell out of this game and I would recommend it to anyone.

Can I say okami? I know that it is a fairly beloved game but every time I tell the plot to someone who's never heard of it they say it sounds "retarded"
