Non of my friends have heard of Invader Zim, which angers me.
Wow, Invader Zim has it's own little cult over here.
Yes, it does. And that is one of my favorite parts of the Escapist.
Lol, I have a friend who has memorized almost everything that Gir has said, she often quotes him at random.
I'd do that, but my friends would just sit there with a dumb look on there face. I even have a shirt with him on it.

"WAFFLES"
We just laugh at her, cause we know what she's talking about, then we start to spout off our own quotes...cause we're cool like that. Oh, she would kill you for that shirt, I bought her a plushie last time I went to Chicago and she knocked my ass over.
I'd kill to have her as a friend.
But she's the one and only Hayley-chan...also you'd have to have a high tolerance for fangirling over Kyouya from Ouran...thankfully I have this tolerance and I also fangirl with her.
I have a friend like this. He is a huge fan of the office and of Halo 3. To hang out with him, you have to have a really high tolerance to bad jokes and arguments. I'm the only one thst has this.
Awesome, I could tolerate him...I have a boyfriend. lol.

Uh, can I count Reaper?

If not, Reboot, that was a great show that was somewhat unknown.

Reaper is a great show. Has a funny story line and the guy that plays Sam is so hot. Ugh. /fangirl mode for a sec.

Anyone say Freakazoid? Probably one of the best 90's cartoon shows that lasted two seasons. Damn I miss it...
Uh, Freakazoid was one of the BEST cartons on the KidsWB. Along with Pinky and the Brain, Animanicas. Those were great shows. I had to re-watch a lot of the shows online to actually understand the jokes better since I'm older. I love how they exposed us to political satire and just opened up our minds, even as kids. Man, cartoons aren't the same anymore and it makes me sad.

Freakzoid ruled. Thank god for the DVD release(s), same with Reaper. Shame that show was canceled...sooooo much potential.

I'm adding Transformers: Beast Wars...it was just that awesome.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Not sure how well known it is, but it's an excellent series (even if the animation's crap and the episodes are about 10 minutes each)
I think it's fairly well known.

Unless you are in some other country (ie not US, but AS is pretty big in other countries too), no way is that unknown. Adult Swim is huge.

Lol. He wins all of the arguments, only because he can put me in a arm lock.
My bf would like to think that wins all the arguments, but he has to admit that I do, cause I threaten to not buy him a PSN card or that new game he wants...works everytime!

Maybe It's just around here. I don't think anyone I know has heard of ATHF, or even Adult Swim. Maybe I'm just not asking the right people.

Yay, people like Krod Mandoon! So obviously it will be cancelled.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. X-Fire, X-Fire, X-Fire.
It was supposed to last for 13 episodes but one of them never got broadcast because Channel 4 was scared, due to the small matter of a plane hitting the World Trade Center.
There's rather too much to explain here so instead:

(WARNING: DO NOT WATCH THE ABOVE IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY SCENES OF PAINTBALLING)

I can't believe they've never heard of Invader Zim. Invader Zim is (or "iz" if you're a twat) fucking awesome.

Whitest Kids U' Know is relatively unheard of in England/ the UK.

Just watch their "Grapist" sketch and you'll see why they are wicked cool.

Spaced and Black Books (anything that Simon Pegg & Graham Linehan does is pretty decent).
Freaks and Geeks wasn't too bad either.

R.I.P, Tru Calling. Bloody brilliant US drama that got hardly any recognition over here, then got cancelled half-way through the second series. I was NOT amused.

Quick question to Americans, do you find UK shows inpenetrable and in need of subtitles?

because I feel most US Stations are just wasting big piles of money buying the rights to shows and remaking them, when they've been made. Are Americans so patriotic that they can't bear to watch non americans being funny? OF course not, I know you guys are smart, its more that somehow they only ever select idiots for focus groups.

I'm with Marcus Brigstocke's theory, that the problem with focus groups and public opinion, is that you're only getting the opinion of people who can't even avoid someone standing in a mall with a clipboard! Do you really want to risk the millions involved in making a TV series, based on that guys opinion?

I'll admit the US office is good, but the vast majority of remakes are godawful, and I'm including stuff we've remade from the US versions too.

(I excuse the Late Edition, our version of the Daily Show, because it kind of HAS to be remade to include UK news.)
I understand a fair amount of British humor because I've got about a dozen British friends that I've known for a couple years now. XD Their humor is about on par with mine so it all made sense to me.

OT: A few shows actually.

1) Doctor Who and it's spin offs Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. (None of them are too well known in the US. At least not around where I live.)

2) Dead Like Me was pretty damn good. It really managed to pull me in and got me to like the characters and sympathize with them. Sadly it was canceled after the second season.

3) Megas XLR was freaking awesome. It was a thirty minute anime-inspired cartoon that ran on Cartoon Network for about two or three seasons. Not too many people mentioned it and like Dead Like Me it was also canceled.

There are tons more like the ones I just listed. Shows from overseas that have a different brand of humor or were canceled due to low ratings. The US is quite hard on its TV shows and the shows of its overseas neighbors.
