Non of my friends have heard of Invader Zim, which angers me.
Wow, Invader Zim has it's own little cult over here.
Yes, it does. And that is one of my favorite parts of the Escapist.
Lol, I have a friend who has memorized almost everything that Gir has said, she often quotes him at random.
I'd do that, but my friends would just sit there with a dumb look on there face. I even have a shirt with him on it.

"WAFFLES"
We just laugh at her, cause we know what she's talking about, then we start to spout off our own quotes...cause we're cool like that. Oh, she would kill you for that shirt, I bought her a plushie last time I went to Chicago and she knocked my ass over.
I'd kill to have her as a friend.
But she's the one and only Hayley-chan...also you'd have to have a high tolerance for fangirling over Kyouya from Ouran...thankfully I have this tolerance and I also fangirl with her.
I have a friend like this. He is a huge fan of the office and of Halo 3. To hang out with him, you have to have a really high tolerance to bad jokes and arguments. I'm the only one thst has this.
Awesome, I could tolerate him...I have a boyfriend. lol.
Lol. He wins all of the arguments, only because he can put me in a arm lock.
My bf would like to think that wins all the arguments, but he has to admit that I do, cause I threaten to not buy him a PSN card or that new game he wants...works everytime!
You would Also win in a argument everytme against me apparently.
I just got mad skills like that...
It's pretty apparent that you do.
My bf just calls it the evil ways of women...

"Still Game". A Scottish TV-show about two old farts living together in Glasgow. If you can understand the accent it's really quite funny. I think the accent is why it isn't very famous abroad.

I love Burn Notice, and Dexter is my current favorite show on Television. Before that it was Pushing Daisies. That show and Arrested Developemnt are my two favorite tv shows ever (Both are Canceled now, damn you general veiwers of America). And for anyone who has never watched arrested developement, stop what your doinng right now and go watch the three season of it. Funniest Show Ever. Both shows are wonderfully written. I loved firefly, though I only got into it after I started watching The Sara Connor Chronicles, which I also think was an awesome Tv show. Mostly because I think Summer Glau is super hot. Oh and I really like House.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Not sure how well known it is, but it's an excellent series (even if the animation's crap and the episodes are about 10 minutes each)
I wouldn't call this underrated or unknown. I see ATHF shit almost everywhere I go.

The Burn Notice on USA. Its starting to gain a bit of credibility now but it used to be a really underrated show.

either your bf is oblivious, are a comidic mastermind. It's your call.
I say oblivious, it took almost a whole year to realize that he liked me and it took him 6 years to admit that he had a crush on one of his friends.

Quick question to Americans, do you find UK shows inpenetrable and in need of subtitles?

because I feel most US Stations are just wasting big piles of money buying the rights to shows and remaking them, when they've been made. Are Americans so patriotic that they can't bear to watch non americans being funny? OF course not, I know you guys are smart, its more that somehow they only ever select idiots for focus groups.

I'm with Marcus Brigstocke's theory, that the problem with focus groups and public opinion, is that you're only getting the opinion of people who can't even avoid someone standing in a mall with a clipboard! Do you really want to risk the millions involved in making a TV series, based on that guys opinion?

I'll admit the US office is good, but the vast majority of remakes are godawful, and I'm including stuff we've remade from the US versions too.

(I excuse the Late Edition, our version of the Daily Show, because it kind of HAS to be remade to include UK news.)
It's usually because Americans do feel the need to show to other Americans that they can still be creative. Ironically, they do this by stealing shows from other countries that they hope the other Americans have never heard of. But another main reason for this. (The reason they remade the Office) is that Americans are still new to subtle humor. The American version tends to be a little more over the top, because Americans don't really "get" subtle humor. I am American, and I personally love the British version, owning seasons 1 and 2 as well as Ricky Gervais's other show Extras, which is also great albeit a little more exaggerated.

On Topic though, I found a little gem on I think ac once, a short lived show called "Reaper", about a guy who is assigned the role of Grim Reaper by the Devil himself, but the souls he gathers he gathers with a little Dirt Devil Hoover. It's quite original and funny.

EDIT: To prove my point that Americans don't get subtle humor, I once showed my drama class a clip from Extras (The one where Sir Ian describes what acting is) and they thought he was being serious, therefore, it wasn't funny to them. Really? No one gets how obvious it is that he's supposed to be arrogant and stupid?

Wow, 6 years? Is there a record for something like that?
I really don't know, but there probably is somewhere...lemme check the internet...it has all the answers.

Over here in Ireland NCIS is pretty unknown. Take a guess how I feel about that.
Same here, it's sorta known in England but seems to have more of a cult following.
