Firefly, one of the best Sci-fi series I've ever seen. So many peope I know haven't ever heard of it, and yet every person I show it to seems to end up loving it. Seriously underrated I think.

That was on, I think, TNT here in the States, but I watched it when it was on Cartoon Network's Toonami years later and loved it.
For my own contribution, there was a show on PBS called Egg: the Art Show. It was just a film crew wandering about, doing vignettes on people's artwork. It was one of the most joyous programs I've ever seen and I miss it so much.

Yes, it does. And that is one of my favorite parts of the Escapist.

Lol, I have a friend who has memorized almost everything that Gir has said, she often quotes him at random.

I'd do that, but my friends would just sit there with a dumb look on there face. I even have a shirt with him on it.

We just laugh at her, cause we know what she's talking about, then we start to spout off our own quotes...cause we're cool like that. Oh, she would kill you for that shirt, I bought her a plushie last time I went to Chicago and she knocked my ass over.

I'd kill to have her as a friend.

But she's the one and only Hayley-chan...also you'd have to have a high tolerance for fangirling over Kyouya from Ouran...thankfully I have this tolerance and I also fangirl with her.

I have a friend like this. He is a huge fan of the office and of Halo 3. To hang out with him, you have to have a really high tolerance to bad jokes and arguments. I'm the only one thst has this.

Awesome, I could tolerate him...I have a boyfriend. lol.

Lol. He wins all of the arguments, only because he can put me in a arm lock.

My bf would like to think that wins all the arguments, but he has to admit that I do, cause I threaten to not buy him a PSN card or that new game he wants...works everytime!

You would Also win in a argument everytme against me apparently.

I get's funnier, cause he says that to me whenever our friends are around, and the majority of our friends are girls...many raised eyebrows.

I'm just glad I've avoided #chan and /b/ in general. I've heard so much bad things about it.

Have you noticed how far off-topic we've gotten? It went from Invader Zim, to Arguments, to 7chan. It's pretty weird.

I don't actually watch much TV, so i'm probalby not the best person to answer this. John Adams, although praised critically isn't quite as widely seen as i hoped, it's such a good show. Deadwood is one of my favourite TV series, but it's probably not too underrated, though it's been sort of fogotten after stopping at 3 seasons. Andromeda, whilst not a superb show, is just fun. It's kinda like Firefly, probably not as good, but i still enjoyed it's easy going nature.

Over here in Ireland NCIS is pretty unknown. Take a guess how I feel about that.

I know it's far more well known here in the US where it originates from but I watch the crap out of it, there's a channel here that runs a marathon at least once a week and I try to watch a few episodes when they do to keep me over until the new season starts.

The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.: Starred Bruce Campbell, which is probably all some of you need to know about it. About a bounty hunter out to catch the 13 outlaws who murdered his father, it was a western sci-fi adventure comedy yserial, and it actually handled all of those genres brilliantly. It was most identifiable as a comedy and wesatern adventure - not in a hokey (enjoyable, but hokey) Xena/Hercules sense, but in a witty, rip-roaring, well-produced sense. Starred some very funny (yet dramatically capable) people in nearly every role - even the freaking horse was funny. The type of high-spirited, happy adventure I wish they still made.

Unfortunately this show only ran for one season, on the upside of that, if you know where to look you can get the whole series on DVD for about $15.

Also I have to go in with anyone saying Doctor Who and it's spinoffs not being well known in the mainstream here in the US, which is unfortunate because they're all excellent shows.

Every time someone creates an "underrated thread?" it's always full of things that were never underrated, but instead are favorites. I really wish people would try harder to understand the concept of obscurity.


When I was a kid, I loved a show called Mighty Orbots. It had an extremely short run, was not well known, and ergo underrated.

well theres this canadian show called corner gas, its really popular in canada but ive never met anyone outside canada who has heard of it,
theres the aforementioned mighty boosh
and theres night court, its an old comedy that was popular but not to many people i know have heard of it,
also, op if you ever read the books that the legend of the seeker show is based on( terry goodkinds sword of truth series) then you will begin to hate the show

edit: i cant believe i forgot this but there was this mini series on the sci-fi channel a few years back called the lost room that was pretty great and an old show called the dresden files that most people on here may know but it was pretty short-lived

edit(again): a show aired on USA network like last year called to love and die but they only gave it like 1 episode which i liked then they killed it it was very strange

M.A.N.T.I.S. - Show about a brilliant black paraplegic scientist who creates a powered exoskeleton to fight crime. Came on American Television in the early 90's

Legend - a sci fi western starring Richard Dean Anderson and John de Lancie (Q from Star Trek). It only ran one season from what I remember.

The IT Crowd - a hilarious British workplace sitcom about two guys in the IT department of a large corporation.

Red Dwarf - a British sci-fi comedy... just watch it, you will love it!

Spaced - it has Simon Pegg, that's good enough as it is.

Not sure if it's considered "lesser known" but I know the original Doctor Who isn't that well known in my country.

Does anyone think it's odd that I'm American and three of the five shows I named are British? What can I say you guys make great television.

Wait, your friends time you? I always de-reail the conversation when I see the best chance to do so.

They don't time me, they watch and see how long it takes for a dirty comment to find it's way out...and apparently, it doesn't take very long. And I also love to de-rail conversations...I get slapped my friends for it sometimes.
