From what I've seen a lot of people say, I guess this was unexpected.

Quite a few for me:
Deus Ex: Invisible War - My brother bought it on a whim because it was sci-fi, turned out to be really enjoyable, despite the hate it gets
Quantum of Solace - Got it in a multi-buy because I needed one more game to take advantage of the offer, short, but good fun none the less
Emperors: Rise of the Middle Kingdom - Again, my brother bought this one, because I was buying a game that was buy one get one free, god the hours I've logged trying to build my perfect city is crazy
1nsane - Came free with my copy of Operation Flashpoint, still in my top 3 favourite racing games (not that I play many)
Plants vs Zombies - I always dismissed it as looking silly, but then a friend convinced to try it and I was hooked. Yes it's silly, but it's awesome silly
Colony Wars - Came free with G-Police, and was probably one of my favourite Playstation games ever
Dungeons of Daggorath - I found it whilst I was researching early RPGs for my course, and decided to play it on an emulator, expecting it to be horrible. It's actually really fun and addictive, even if I fail miserably at it.
Two Worlds - I decided to try the demo, even after hearing all the bile spewed at it. I was shocked at the fact that I actually had quite a bit of fun playing it (I actually played the demo for 4 hours in one sitting), and the voice acting's always good for a giggle

Yup, I checked it out because it was cheap, and it looked different to all the other cookie-cut games so i said to hell with reviews and got it; didn't expect such an enjoyable game. The first person camera may be restrictive, and the level design a bit clunky, but damn it was fun! And i hadn't such good platforming comboing experience since Sands of time.
