Poison Ivy from Arkham Asylum. That was annoying.
Also the final boss in Assassin's Creed.
Um, not meaning to burst your bubble, but the final boss is pathetically easy. Just stand near him with your H.Blade equipped. Wait for him to attack. Counter him, and bam. Instant throat ventilation.
Really? I didn't know you could use your hidden blade in combat.
Yup yup, that thing is freaking insane for that enemy-spamming boss beforehand. Just keep countering everything that's thrown at you. Only problem is that you have to re-equip it sometimes.

I think the one I can remember is an enemy from Devil May Cry 4 who could only be hurt for a very small amount of time, had a massive amount of health and did ridiculously large amount of damage.

I hated them so much but luckily they didn't come in to the game till the last quarter

Bastard!
Come on, they weren't that tough!
Especially not with Dante. You just had to teleport around them, and when they stop, pound them into the ground.

What about the pandimonium warden in final fantasy 11? The people fighting him did so for 18 hours and STILL hadn't beat him, but had to quit because some of the guilds member were getting physically ill.
I file this under the stupidity of the people attempting it, and causing unnecessary panic to people who needed another reason to rally against video games for whatever reason. This fight has been changed to a 2 hour cap, meaning if it's not dead by then it just rages and owns you. Soooo while it is incredibly hard, I've seen enough to know it can be beaten with the right strategy.

On the other hand, in the same game, Absolute Virtue is still owning everyone and that monster has been in existence a good....3-4 years now? Square-Enix has put out trailers that teach us absolutely nothing we haven't already known about it, and got mad when people took 15 Dark Knights to zerg it down with Souleater. Any viable way Absolute Virtue has been defeated so far has been nerfed so that it can't be repeated anymore.

So yeah, Absolute Virtue from FFXI gets my vote, because it's currently unbeatable.

Red in Heart Gold/ Soul Silver. He has six Pokemon between level 82 and 88 which is the highest level of any other trainer or wild Pokemon in any of the other games I've played up to this point.

The final boss in Arkham Asylum annoyed the crap out of me >.< well ... most bosses in that game annoyed me ...

The final boss in Castle Crashers though simply refused to die

ok not to say I don't like portal, I love the game to death, but... does any one else find it odd that a giant super computer needs 4-5 rockets to take it out? and then the rockets don't actually damage GLaDOS they just nock a few sockets loose. IT'S a freaking ROCKET. I want you to go find a Cray II and take a rocket to it. Ok now that you have sevral felonies under your belt how did that Cray fair against the rocket? exactly it's gone.

Is too tough for his own boots, that he is lacking!

first time I came across him:
6 rounds of buck shot15 rounds of 9mm parabellum2 frag grenadesAnd a incendrary grenade

now seriously! A guy wearing nothing but a potato sack for a helmet and no shoes, infected by a host or not, should go down after that sitting of ordinace!

Whats your stupidly overpowered enemy?
You don't need to kill him to complete the level, you know? And you should have better luck with enviromental attacks than just unleashing bullets at him.

For me is the boss in The Lost Planet 2 demo. I know it is supposed to be played co-op, but trying to kill that thing in single player took me about an hour, it felt like trying to break a wall down with my fingers...

EDIT: Oh and every single Dark Aeon in FFX
They were so difficult to kill, most of them forced me to use Yojimbo
It got me very poor
Ninjad.Crap. You've got to consider though, these guys aren't so bad, even on Dante Must Die as long as your using Nero; just spam charge shot 3 all the live long day.

Now if you using Dante, then your fucked! Dante's charge shot isn't worth shit and on top of that he doesn't have the Devil Buster.

Well, I can't really remember an especially hard boss, but I know a section on a game that was made much harder due to little me being stupid.

Lord of the Rings Two Towers. When I first encountered the troll that threw logs at you, I wasn't sure how to damage it. As far as I could tell, none of my attacks damaged it, and I was supposed to find a way around him. I would slash at a log that blocked my health, shoot at this mysterious chain that my arrows locked onto. I would even backtrack, ditch him, and I still couldn't find a way out.

Then one time I just decided to hit him a bunch and he went down.

Stupid stupid little me.

Talos (the Colossus of Crete) takes around 10-15 minutes of kiting to kill. he only appears on Epic difficulty before you go into the Minoan Labyrinth. he has a FUCKTON of health, even outmatching Cerberus, who appears 3½ continents later, his 1 and only attack (he throws alot of fireballs at you) damages you faster than you can heal, altho countered with a solid amount of health. he uses this all the time, leading to you just camping on a stair recovering health, running out to damage him untill he fires again, then rinse-repeat.

he isnt especially hard, hes just annoying as fuck.

also, i didnt say that at the start, hes in Titan Quest.

The Overmind of Starcraft.

A forgotten thing, but is REALLY hard really.

He has a ridiculous amount of Helth compared to everything else, and is guarded by ALOT of Zerg units, buildings etc.

It took me 3 hours to clear a path in order to take it down...

Japanese fighting game bosses. One word: Teleporting. (Tekken 5, Dead Or Alive 4, Street Fighter 4) ((SoulCalibur 4 did it too, but it wasnt a pain like those 3.))

Just shoot the electric thingy when he's near it. It's somewhere on the ground.

Wesker was a pain in the ass, mainly because of Sheva's genius AI. She would always get killed.

The lich Benirus in Oblivion took me forever to beat. It wasn't so much that he could summon other enemies, but the fact that his fire spell ate 1/6 of my total health, and that his ice spell was nearly impossible to dodge. I think I finally beat him by inadvertently messing up his coding...

Other candidates include Bonetail from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Zeromus from Final Fantasy II (SNES).

Oh I forget to mention nearly anything in Xenosaga 2.
The combat was so piss temperamental if you didn't have clairvoyance or farm for med-kits(actually that wouldn't work, you can't buy them and enemies kick your ass too hard) you would eat shit and die nearly every fight you were in.
And boss battles boiled down to Simon Says with Hitler at Simon.
