Super Nelo Angelo on DMD mode, original Devil May Cry. Even with DT on, your attacks only whittle down his life bar by the tiniest margin, while he can kill you with a single combo. The battle would have been absurdly long even if I hadn't had to restart it twenty times.

Some of the bosses from Dawn of War II come to mind... the Avatar of Khaine, the big Waaaaghboss and the final Hive Tyrant in particular. Ridiculously powerful attacks, and the feeling of accomplishing absolutely nothing as you pump enough ordinance into them to sink a fucking strike cruiser.
Don't even get me started on those. It took me ages to wear them down.

The Azure dragons in Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Armageddon's blade were impossible.

An unarmoured human boss Character in Uncharted 2 fought in a tight and linear environment, who can take several direct grenade hits, M4 assualt rifle clips and haymakers before going down (on normal difficulty), all the while using his own grenades, M4 and (far more powerful) haymakers against the much more frail Drake.

Pretty much everybody in the first Uncharted game. None of the henchmen had any body armor to speak of, yet it took like thirty shots from my AK-47 to put one of these guys down. It doesn't make sense. Thankfully Naughty Dog corrected this in Uncharted 2, which is an awesome game.
This correction applies to the rest of the game, which is truly awesome!
Yeah, I just got to that part today, I was playing on hard and died like thirty times before I finally killed the bastard.

Now on topic, those ghouls in point lookout from Fallout 3, not even a mininuke can stop them.

Deff Dreads and Killa Kans in a Dow DC mod called firestorm over kronus. Those things can soak up AT fire, melta bombs which are usually a one hit kill and the killa kans come in squads of 3

Remillia motherfucking Scarlet from Perfect Cherry Blossom. She has SO MUCH GODDAMN HEALTH, and so many different attacks, all of which are different flavours of spam, and she can randomly turn invincible in the last stages of the fight.

And before anyone calls me out for not mentioning Flandre, she's easier - all there is to her is pattern recognition. Remillia just spams shit at you.
You should probably mention that this is a Touhou game. Not nearly enough people play them.

Anyway, most bosses from Demon's Souls, but that's kinda the point. Even when massively over-powered for a boss, you can still die in about, oh, one hit.

Far Cry 2

Every. Single. Fucking. Enemy.

Wait... you're wearing a tatty T-Shirt and a baseball cap yet it takes 8 or 9 rounds of AK to the chest before you're downed...

..at which point you crawl behind a tree and shoot at me with your pistol...???

BULLSHIT!

That was an real olschool battle difficulty wise. Really tough.

On a sidenote... the music in that video made my ears bleed, and this is coming from a metalhead.

I've been playing R.E.5, and this guy:

Is too tough for his own boots, that he is lacking!

first time I came across him:
6 rounds of buck shot15 rounds of 9mm parabellum2 frag grenadesAnd a incendrary grenade

now seriously! A guy wearing nothing but a potato sack for a helmet and no shoes, infected by a host or not, should go down after that sitting of ordinace!

Whats your stupidly overpowered enemy?
He's a cinch. Try that slug thing in Dead Space, or that Type 3 Plagas in Re5 on professional (the El Gigante clone).

The final boss in DoA4. It can teleport at any time, even during combos. It can drain half of your health in one swift combo. And worst of all, the floors explode when you land on them causing even more damage. What a *****!
I still vote Justice from Guilty Gear. She just cheats like a mo-fo.

No one mentioned the various "Raid-bosses" of the ... various MMORPG's? I mean: Yeah ok, so you are a magical Demon and are three meters tall... but really, 24 people surround you and pound you like 15 minutes with magic, hammers, two-handed swords and crap. AND YOU LOSE HEALTH? These bosses are not blocking or dodging ANYTHING. They just take it and then fall over... no idea why. There should be a point where you are either imune to the crap or get hit rather hard, but getting hit for like 2000 combined strikes is just insane.

Just lets say... that like you would get attacked by a preschool or something. And all this three year old kids have... one long fingernail or such, and are determined to take you down, even if they have to spent half an hour fighting you (and reanimate and reinforce their rank WHILE they are fighting you... (And evereytime you want to finish one off, some kids screams: "NOOOO look at me, attack MEEEEE"... and you do it for some obscure reason)

God... MMORPGS are stupid *g*

Well back from ranting: I really prefer realistic boss battles. Just let him have bodyguards, dodge a lot and have a clever trap-laden map and all will be good. Vlad in Max Payne II was a nice boss. Ok he could take three shots. But i can grant him that (Max could take a few hundred over two days *g*). But he had a lot of dudes, hid well and used Molotov Cocktails. And you had to do a lot of shooting, running and jumping to get him.

Not really that dangerous but on the maximum difficulty on Oblivion Ogres have way to much health. It really gets boring when your spending minutes hacking away with Goldbrand and using Fingers of the Mountain on just one of the bloody things. On a humorous note my character has 112% Spell Reflection and 124% spell immunity (i don't know what the other 24% does) so Liches and the like are HILARIOUS.

Japanese fighting game bosses. One word: Teleporting. (Tekken 5, Dead Or Alive 4, Street Fighter 4) ((SoulCalibur 4 did it too, but it wasnt a pain like those 3.))
Sort of what I was thinking. Seth (Sf4) pisses me off to no end!
