Your title displeases me as the US is taking something of a back seat in this one. And props to France for their actions throughout this whole crisis, you have earned my respect.

Well attacking your own civilians is not a big deal and the rest of the worlds countries should mind there own shit and even though Gaddafi is winning if the rebels win there will still be civil war and a power vacuum.

You could just put "UN vs Libya" much easier.

Either way, Libya is crumbling and this will make this worse for everyone there.

Calumon: Why do people have to fight... :s
Because humans like killing stuff. And until some aliens appear for them to kill, they'll just keep killing each other instead.
but but we have computer games for that! :3 We just have to get the military types hooked :D
But then they'll all be too busy playing games while the Martians return to drink their blood! And they'll have remembered to take their flu shots by then! And even if the Martians don't return, the number of people that don't die from wars will cause the planet to collapse under the weight of so many people!

It will either collapse under the weight of thsoe not dead from war or those addicted to pizza and mountain dew :D

Now all we have to do is get the UN to save the UK from David Cameron you know his party didn't actually win the election right? :(

From what I've been told....

The US and British Navy has fired Tomahawk missiles into libya to destroy the Anti-Air craft guns stationed on the ground, this is to ensure the No fly zone they have now established.

On a rather funny note I was told that the french armed forces actually blew up some of Gaddafi's Tanks as well........I have to say without any sarcasm.......Well done France, you did what we all want to do but don't have the balls to.

because Humans evolve through conflict.
war is the ultimate catalyst for technological development, and much of the tech we take for granted today (internet, satellites, etc) was developed for the purpose of warfare first.

sad but true.

Attacking your own civilians is not a big deal? Need I remind you of the holocaust?

If the rebels win, sure there will still be Loyalist factions fighting back, and there would still be sporadic combat, but after they take power it would quickly die down.

The power vacuum, could you fill me in a bit more?

They didn't act sooner because the rebels clearly stated they didn't want help from the rest of the world. This was obviously said as long as they we're winning... Once kadhafi started his little genocide plan they weren't as optimistic anymore.

The european union isn't going to do anything other than say a couple of strong words. It's probably gonna be up to the US, france and england. My country (belgium) offered help with F16's. But there is a joke about stuff like that in our country.

"you want us to send our airforce? Ok. Do you want the one or both F16's?"

If you didn't catch on. Our military ain't worth that much :).
well are they piloted by t-rex's at least?

well i'm glad they managed to decide to do something about libya atleast

I don't get how they can go after Libya, and continue to ignore North Korea.
Cuz going after North Korea is like picking on that weird loner kid at school. One day they're going to snap and shoot the place up...I.E. nuke whoever they can reach.
Not that we'd have THAT much to worry about from them. All of their missiles would most likely be intercepted before they even got out of NK airspace.

This means that we might actually use our shiny new Typhoons in dogfights, I'd like to see how Libya perform against them. Although Ghaddafi seems to be pretending to play along with the U.N. for the moment, if the rebels start gaining ground I wonder how he will react?

Well for starters the holocaust was a genocide very different from now where the so called "civilians" (Who where a danger to the stability of the country and the government) where a active danger to them selfs and others. If you think that the rebels are "united" think again, the only thing they all have in common is their enemy and flag, all of them serve there own interests. Honestly If I was deployed to see this happen in Moscow I would be the first to fire.

I'm just waiting to call out irony on when our planes get shot down by weapons that we sold to the Libyans in the first place...

He has a pint though, considering nothing was done about China killing its own people, its all becuase there is oil envolved.
Even the USA kills its own people. It is just a difference in what each government sees as a crime.

Are you serious?

I... don't even know how to respond to this.

As for the main topic... come on, we all saw it coming. With all luck, the jack-off in charge will see where this is going and apply for asylum out of country.

Until then, go, my Navy brethren, and drop explosives til the cows come home!
