My friends and I never cared about the lack of content released for the 360. We just kept on playing and Left 4 Dead never got old. I don't get why everyone thinks that because of mods and content that PC is better either... I love my 360

Even Crytek, the development company behind one of the best looking games for pc, seem to be going the "Console first, fuck pc" route if what I experienced in the Crysis 2 demo really carries over to the main release.
I think the fact that the community they trusted pirated there game to oblivion, gives them the right to do such. I see no problem with it. This accusation is pretty false anyway but I thought I'd point it out nonetheless.

I think valve should continue to make games, ( im a late bloomer like yourself) But its MS crappy rules for live that we can download maps. I mean its great xboxlive, good content and great service, downloads happen really fast. But valve isnt a allowed to connect steam to live. Like I wish, but there are rumors that we will be able to download maps on portal 2, just not make any.

"Community they trusted" Sounds funny to me. The console community should be treated the same if that were the case, between people modding xbox's, Wii's and Flash cards on DS's to pirate games and that whole fiasco with the Sony root key. These days with steam, it's very likely that console games see more pirating than pc.
I also did say SEEM to be going, I'm holding final judgment till I can play the full game.

Ehh... I dunno.

Isn't a sub-standard port better then no port at all? At least that way the console folks get some of the fun too... right?
I know I like being able to play the big console releases on my PC, even when the ports are pretty dodgy.

EDIT:

Uhh... what? You seriously don't understand why people think the version with extra content is better?

Or am I reading that wrong?

Console gaming is substantially cheaper than high end PC gaming and it is complete douchebaggery to say "omg stop porting your stuff to other consoles plz".

Everyone deserves a chance to try those games and if you disagree, stop bloody buying the lesser versions

You should probably read this. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.231292-Valve-Xbox-Live-Rules-are-a-Train-Wreck?page=1]

It's also the same reason there aren't many MMORPGs on the Xbox 360.

E: Here's [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.228555-Valve-Would-Love-to-Put-Steam-on-360s] another news post about the issue.
Coincidentally, you're (the OP, that is) the fourth person to comment on that thread.

The only problem I have with Valve is taht Gabe Newell has tattooed the Sony logo to his dick and waves it around like it's the best thing since HD gaming. Obvious fanboy is obvious. Maybe Microsoft doesn't want to make deals with Valve, I don't know. But I do know that it gives PS3 fanboys plenty of ammunition to screw around with.

Valve and Blizzard belong to the PC gamers, they are all we have left and you can't take them from us. Every single good game that isn't from these two developers is a crappy port when it reaches PC (a few exceptions in niche genres).

Just my thought on the matter

Like it was mentioned before, Valve is one of the few remaining developers/publishers that haven't fallen prey to the 'consolitis' that took over the industry. As a primary PC gamer, we've been subjected to more than a few nasty console ports, shut out of games or are delayed x number of months (any of the GTA games, assassin's creed just quickly come to mind for delayed games).

Microsoft is the culprit to your problem in that they want to micromanage updates and get their $$ for it unlike PC which get free updates and (other than paying their ISP) don't need a premium charge to access their online capabilities.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Valve. Maybe my favorite, but the console ports are lame, I mean why can't they give them the TF2 Updates,
Because Microsoft would make them charge money for them and they don't want to was their reasoning.
And Live has a limit to how many patches you can apply to a certian game. Do you see how much they patch TF2 lol

This may, very possibly be the only post I ever, ever make here... And yes I've just linked up with my FB account. However, I feel the need to voice my opinion.

Think for a moment about all the PC players who get lumbered with *chooses words carefully* bad... no, crappy PC ports of games. Valve seem to be one of the only developers really pioneering it for the PC crowd out there and for that I salute them.

don't short change us if you know for a fact that you cannot provide the same level of quality for us as you could a PC gamer.
This is how PC gamers feel about console ports. Every day, even with AAA releases. Hell, we're probably going to feel it with Crysis 2, which was ours in the first place. If we can deal with EA, Activision, Bioware, Rockstar, Ubisoft, Codemasters and alot of the other developers delivering us substandard ports and support, maybe the guys at Valve can be forgiven.

Alas. Off into the shadows I go...
well said, and welcome to the escapist.

"Hey!"

"Stop making games because you won't release the same downloadable content for it on the ports that people still buy and love!"

This all makes perfect sense.

The Valve logo, an icon of gaming, with such great games as Half-life 1 and 2, Left 4 Dead, and of course the famous Counterstrike. One of the greatest game companies ever to have put games onto the market, with excellent stories, hidden secrets, and characters who faces will never be forgotten.

My first exposure to valve was in The Orange Box, so I am a bit of a late bloomer here. I played it, took on the combine with a crowbar, taunted as a scout, and loved Portal of course (Who here really hasn't? Speak now or forever hold you silence.) and kept it in my library for many years after. My next game was L4D. I love zombies, and when I heard that Valve was taking a crack at the genere, I was overjoyed. When it came out, I was overjoyed! I loved the hunter and being the Tank was pure excitment.

But with all of this, after all the fun I have had, I just have one request for Valve, stop. Just stop it now. Stop making games.

Perhaps I should clarify that, stop releasing games for the 360 and PS3. (Hold your venom PC elitist, so what if I am a 360 player and not a PC player, I deserve no less quality for my money.)

This really stemed from L4D and TF2 mainly, I loved every second of L4D, it was dark, gritty, and funny at the same time, but the problem isn't with Valve on this, it's with Microsoft. (Again, hold you venom.) We cannot download custom maps, nor can we make them. And TF2 was great! It was an excellent shooter and was a knee slap all the way through, but you never released downloads for it. (Keep holding that venom...) In the end though, I just ended up feeling cheated of my money.

Tl:DR
Valve, I cannot help but feel abandoned. I know it is not your fault for the hinders that get placed on your games on consoles, but don't short change us if you know for a fact that you cannot provide the same level of quality for us as you could a PC gamer.

And before you begin, I hold no ire towards Valve, simply the way their games get treated with consoles in mind.
This is one of many, MANY reasons I just haven't gone with the new gen consoles.

They're trying to be everything that a PC should really be: cheap, fast, stramlined, already customized and possibly more comfortable, but all they're achieving is a "dumbing down" effect in my eyes, and especially so due to the heavy restrictions that they impose. Sure the DRM is better - until the console is cracked. But at what cost?

...

Well I have yet to figure that out as I seem to be spending about a grand on new PC tricks every 3 years or so.

*shrug* oh well. At least I don't feel cheated, and restricted.

PS: did you hear that Battlefield 3 is getting a special PC version with more features, and the price will probably be less than that of the console version? Just thought I'd slip that one in XD.

What about the original logo with the valve in the guy's eye? (Also the briefcase in Pulp Fiction was originally supposed to hold the diamonds from Reservoir Dogs but that got cut. Knowing useless things is half the battle!)
