Perhaps I should clarify that, stop releasing games for the 360 and PS3. (Hold your venom PC elitist, so what if I am a 360 player and not a PC player, I deserve no less quality for my money.)
You're right. And that's exactly why you should be blaming Valve.

I know this is an unpopular statement, because zomgilovevalvesteamsteamsteam! But here's the problem: Tons of companies have put out additional content on the 360 in the exact sort of way Valve claims is not possible. Valve. Lies. Microsoft does, too, but one doesn't need to take them at their word here.

Valve is a monopoly, one which is all smiles when it gets things its way. When refused that kind of control, they huff and puff and take their ball and go home. Microsoft and Sony don't play that game? Screw them, we're not sitting with them at lunch.

Valve got your money, though. They'll still happily take it from you, and they really don't care beyond that. They're more genial with products released for PC and specifically on Steam, because they're marketing Steam. This is actually quite similar to the way Wal-Mart operates. And, like Wal-Mart, any friendly face aimed at you is a hollow front. But look at it on the bright side: Sony caved, and you'll see the monopoly operate on their own terms on the PS3.

Is Microsoft's model the best one? Far from. But blaming them for Valve's "my way or the highway" attitude is just crap.

Their excuse isn't limitations... their excuse is they don't want to charge for content that should be free.

VALVe is an awesome company and you sound very jaded. How you can think anything else after the number of free upgrades they've given TF2 is mind boggling. Everyone paid $50/60 expecting three games. PC users were surprised to find that this $60 provided them with years of game updates. PS3/Xbox users on the other hand did not. However, your $60 only entitled you to those three games, not the updates.

Also, they're not a monopoly. There's how many companies that make shooters?

Beggars can't be chooser's. We're lucky they even brought the games to our consoles AT ALL. You don't deserve anything. They could have easily said fuck us and continued to makes games exclusively for their core demographic, but they didn't.

You say that you had a great time with each the games in question, but then turn around and say you feel cheated out of your cash? I call bullshit on that. You got what you paid for, be happy you got it at all.

You want Valve to stop developing for the consoles. What about the rest of us? Just because you can't deal with a bad port doesn't mean the rest of us want to go Valvless. If you don't like getting bad ports, it's as simple as keeping that money in your wallet.

Oh, and another thing. At least you aren't as bad off as us PS3 owners. If I remember right, our version of TF2 is even worse than the 360's. Not to mention you guys have both of the L4D games. This brings us back to the subject of being happy you have it at all. I would KILL to have the L4D games on the PS3, even if they're bad ports.

Their games are made with PC gamers in mind first and console gamers second. I see no issue with this. Don't buy VALVe games for the console if you do not believe the quality is up to par.

It boggles my mind that you feel cheated when you got TF2 for $20 ($2.50 if you bought on Halloween) because you didn't get free upgrades. Most companies would charge $60 for a game like TF2.
Well, for one thing, some people just don't find that possible, they can't afford gaming pcs, not if there may be only tf2 and a few other games on the platform that said player actually wants.

And I wouldn't feel cheated if tf2 worked in 360. This is about more than the lack of hats/new maps/modes, this is about basic bug fixes. I know valve is primarily a pc gaming company, but that's just no excuse for a game to effectively be broken years after release.

And just to make myself clear, I really couldn't care less whether they ever bring tf2/l4ds extra content to consoles. Sure, I'd be greatful if it did, even if I had to pay a reasonable charge for it. But there is just no damn reason why they can't take some time out of what seems to be major procrastination (I don't even have to say which game I mean) to just fix the technical issues which make it nigh on impossible to find games without sentries in the sky or below ground, teleporters leading off-map, and scouts hiding in the goddamn Walls.

To be fair it sounds like your stick is with Microsoft and not Valve, Valve have tried several times to get their DLC free to the 360 but they wouldn't let them, then they just gave them the metaphorical 2 fingers and went to Sony, and now in the not to distant future we will have steam works on PS3 and all the free future DLC.

Only thing I can say is that if you love Valve you picked the wrong platform.

loved Portal of course (Who here really hasn't? Speak now or forever hold you silence.)
I thought Portal was a very "meh" game at best.

But anyway, I've never been a big fan of Valve. I only ever really loved L4D, and they ruined that by killing Bill, so yeah.
Plus, you're not missing much with the lack of TF2 updates. It's just a big clusterfuck of trading hours upon hours of work to get a hat.

I think Valve needs to stop picking up player-created content and turning it into copyrighted material. Team Fortress 2? Okay, I can let that slide, but DotA? No. Just fucking no. WHY?

I keep thinking is it a reference to pulp fiction? you know the band aid on marcellus wallaces neck and the theory thats where they took out his soul which is what In the breif case
...The fuck?
have you seen Pulp fiction? its very well known for its memorable quotes and stuff

anyway theres this breif case in the film and a very popular fan theory that the balck gangsta's (Wallace marcellus) soul is in there, in the shots from the back you see he has a band aid on the back of his head, as in where they took his soul from (its just a popular theory, not actually confirmed by the film makers)

anyway...the black guy in the logo looks alot like the guy from pulp fiction and where the valve is makes me think its a reference to pulp fiction
I read somewhere that since Pulp Fiction takes place on the same day as Reservoir Dogs, there was originally a scene where the contents of the briefcase was revealed to be the diamonds from Reservoir Dogs. But it was written out.

OT: I think your right. Valve shouldn't release console ports without making sure that they are as good as on the PC.

As a man who found Half Life and Team Fortress INCREDIBLY boring anyway (Portal kicked ass though) I don't feel like much of a Valve focus anyway. As consoles advance I'm sure they'll meet up more with computer capabilities, maybe then it won't be so much of an issue.

This has obviously gotten way off topic since the OP was "Valve makes shitty console ports waaah" When my response was "Pc gets shitty ports from consoles all the time"

My issue is not with Crytek making money by going to consoles, it's that they're comprimising the quality of the pc title due to laziness. Bioware makes excellent pc versions of their games, despite being on consoles as well. I might be wrong, but I swear I saw Mass Effect and Starcraft 2 on the "Most pirated pc games" list, yet Bioware and Blizzard haven't started making shitty ports from console to pc.

I wouldn't call it laziness but I'll stop the off topic rambling now.

And before you begin, I hold no ire towards Valve, simply the way their games get treated with consoles in mind.
Well I thought when someone rants they are normally angry about something so your kinda confusing me in the anger department.

But on the releasing games point, yea its a bummer we have to pay for DLC and can't get the custom awesomeness that I've seen on sites like MODDB but still we should still be grateful we get a piece of the pie on consoles.

Observation: The carbon-based slushees are whining about their range of entertainment. How amusing. I cannot comprehend why more killing simulators is a bad thing.
