Isn't this being offered for free?

As far as I see it they can deliver whatever they please at whatever release schedule if they aren't demanding money for it.

true, but what if you have a slow internet, like my dial-up speed internet?

Sure its free, but is it worth waiting days for the download to finish?
And since its downloading it will take up all the bandwith and I wouldn't be able to use the internet.

So I ask, would it be worth it?
That's not Valve's problem, that's yours!
I personally can't understand how you could enjoy the game single player only, and the lag would be awful on dial-up.

But whether or not it's worth it based on the time you're willing to spend on downloading it is really up to how much you enjoy the game currently. Either way, it's still free. It's not Valve's fault you don't have/can't get high speed internet in order to get it quickly.

Maybe I should change what I said cause I'm getting tired of justifying myself but I like a decient challenge to. Survior mode is just too unforgiving for me and about 24 other players that I played with that day. None of us could get past the 3 minute mark and they'll only give you a bronze medal if you hold out for 4 minutes.
It's out for a day and your complaining you can't get a bronze? Boo hoo. It's meant to be a challenge, unlike the first 3 difficulties in campaign (expert is the only real challenge with the exception of the final chapters of advanced in my opinion). I'm glad they made it as difficult as they did for many reasons.

Hell, the very first time I played everyone was yelling over the mic as zombies destroyed the generator room in seconds after we hit the switch on the lighthouse map. It was like my first time playing L4D and it was fun. Not only that but it makes for great practice. I'm willing to bet a team who gets silver or gold on a map will likely do better in campaign and/or versus. Because hitting ten minutes is such a big deal, its perfect for those who don't have an hour or more to play a game. This way they can still enjoy the game during a busy schedule. Not only that but if you do get the gold it's like instant bragging rights, more so then those silly achievement points some 360 owners farm achievements for.

I could also go on about how its free and you never actually have to play it but its been said time and time again. However with the release of survival I was thinking it would be fun to a versus variant of it. Four more players can take the boss zombies and try to kill off the survivors faster and after the round ends, teams switch roles and the formerly survivors, now infected try to keep the other team from beating their time. Crap load of brownie points to Valve for releasing this stuff for free when pretty much any other company would make you pay for it.

Like the challenge only played it 3 times and failed them all, but half the team was bots so..meh.

Also tip: Never go to the top of the lighhouse...Those Tanks are better than Ninjas!! Like you hear them coming but you only notice when you decide to look behind you, and see a wall of muscle coming you way. And then bam! Homerun!

Sneaky tanks...

Survial mode isn't even that fun. It's more of a punishment than an actual game mode.
Punishments aren't voluntary. No-one made you press 'download.' If you don't wanna play it, go on Versus or Campaign, just don't whine so we don't get to play it anymore.

You know, I'm stoked, I get free content for a game I paid what $20 for (one of those special deals they had on steam)?

So I might not dig into survival mode for awhile, oh well. .. no big deal as the pack was free.

We'll get new campaigns, maybe even some new weapons. I'd love to see like, a flame thrower, a magnum, etc.
It'd be baddass if the flamethrower was just a lighter and a can of something flammable and you could have a magnum, but it'd replace the pistol and you couldn't hold two. it'd balence (sp) it out and be quite a nice addition to any future patches. Mind you then we'd get trolls whining we didn't get some imaginary 16 new weapons.

How dare they provide you with free content!
Exactly! For shit sake, you just can't please anyone.
New Versus maps, the killer survival mode, and I'm pretty sure a new difficulty (From what I hear), and it's FREE and people still *****.

Man, just enjoy the game. Valve doesn't owe you a thing.

Thats your problem for not getting a proper internet connection...

Not if the free content is worth it...

So its my fault that no internet company will support any type of fast internet in my area?

Not your fault, but certainly your problem.

I am starved for new campaigns, but I will say I love Survival. I've only played it on the lighthouse level so far but that is an excellent map in itself. For all those who have wanted their own Kobayashi Maru scenario, here's your gift!

As for the 16 new levels, you are blind sir! True they are maps from the original campaigns, but with a whole new twist. Frankly I found the generator room in No Mercy way too easy to surpass. Now I can relive that experience, and get my butt kicked, having LOADS of FUN doing it! WOOT

so very true, and its a problem I have been trying to solve for months, but I digress.

Does the download offer anything in the ways of single player?
Anything at all?

Not besides the survival mode.
Which would probably have you tearing your hair out at the stupid bots that are suppose to 'help' you.

All these people complaining.

If you want rid of that $10 so badly, I'll take it. And I'll use it to buy Coke. Which I will drink while playing survival mode.

Laughing at you.
