>Your childhood friend is actually the badguy, or being manipulated into being the badguy
>You always seem to kill enemies just before they run out of ammo, and can loot their last dozen rounds.
>Hair is not bound by typical laws of physics, especially gravity.
>No matter how long you've been shooting in one general location, someone on your team will forget and step in front of your assault rifle.
>Every great world ending cataclysm can be undone simply buy killing some crazy person.
>Regardless of how much noise you were making just 200 yards away in a firefight with a group of enemies, this group is completely unaware of your presence and is just doing routine patrols.

My favorite is when a cinematic comes on and you think "hm maybe for once someone wont get killed." and as soon as that thought is over someone is splattered all over your tv/computer screen.
Like in COD 2 when the sniper guy's like "I think I got them" and then he stands up, and then BOOM!!!!!!

And all guards are inept beyond belief.
Except in Oblivion. Their cliche is that guards seem to have some amazing mystical power that means all guards instantly know who and where you are even if you've commited a crime a hundred miles away and fast travelled straight away with only one witness who you subsequently kill to prevent him calling for said guards.

Well, apparently if you are the hero to save the world you must have at least:

A) Ridiculously pointy or spiky hair
B) Be slightly if not terribly effeminate if you happen to be male
C) Weapon of choice is one that is just outrageously if not impossibly huge, or impractical, or hugely impractical...

A combination of two or all of these helps your chances of course...

i have to be brutally honest, i had a similar thread a while back. but since i dont know how to link, ill just give you one:

do it NIAOUGH - unless theres a timer on the screen somewhere, you have as long as you like to do anything. even when characters keep telling you how important it is that you go do whatever important thing right away.

Murderers must break into super secret compounds all the fucking time because you can run into a base and kill 20 people but if you hide yourself well they'll stop looking for you a minute later.

That no matter how many times you're reminded or yelled at to do something "urgent", you can take a quick trip around the world and get some groceries while you're at it, and the guy your chasing down is still waiting in the same spot for you to show up so he can start running away.

(this can apply to many other things as well)

May not ALWAYS be true, but in racing games, if there's a pick of a girl character, she's the faster one. For example, Pipsy in DKR or the chick in WAVE RACE 64! I love that game...

You can get to the "good part" of the game by doing monotonous activities over and over again.

It's not just at video game cliche, it's a destructive way of life!

WEAPON DEGREDATION IS A HARSH ***** HAND-IN-HAND WITH MURPHY'S LAW. In Murphy's other hand lies ammo count (where applicable).

If you don't klnow what Sod's Law is: 'Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong'.

Big boss battles at the end is a pretty big cliche.
You say that, but you'd be bitching about it if there wasn't some kind of satisfying climax.

I think Fallout 3 and it's
Transformer-esque Uber-patriotic Robot/Chekhov's Gun/Plot device
was pretty fuckin' awesome, and there was no real boss fight.
