There was a really conservative guy in my history class, back at school. I think it may have been a charade, seeing as he came out with things like 'I'm naming my children Margaret and Ronald' and 'I'd rather my children smoked than didn't go to church'.
Anyway, he drank like a fish and routinely passed out on nights out. And when I last met him in a club, he scabbed a cigarette from me.
Funny, coming from such a straight-laced and allegedly clean-living guy.
Traditional english names are conservative?

I want to name my children things like, Richard, Edward, Elizabeth, Harold, Margaret et cetera. does this make me conservative?

I have been shocked by people before but I cannot think of any examples at this time. People who've known me since highscool or beyond are sometimes shocked to hear that I'm majoring in Health and Physical Education. Conversely people at uni are sometimes shocked to find out how much of a nerd I am.

Every time I find out someones a Republican.

I live in California. We were supposed to have rooted them out decades ago.
I thought Arnold Schwarchenegger was a Republican...and the Governor of California...

OT: I know someone at my school who is a BIG hunter, loves huge trucks and the like, and even sometimes goes out and squirrel hunts(don't ask). Basically an all around stereotypical conservative country hick.

But I heard him talking about Glenn Beck and John Mcain , and he basically said that they're jokes who shouldn't be taken seriously.

People for some reason get indignant when I bring up my most heartfelt beleifs about Christ and love for all, sometimes surrounding accusations of gayness and stupidity.

I have a good bunch of friends, all very nice people. The majority of them are zealously anti-religion, and they usually poke fun at another of our friends who is Catholic. One day we were talking about just random crap in school and they realized they didn't know what religion I was and that they assumed that I was atheist. "I'm not," I said. "I'm Baptist."

Cue silence. Long, uncomfortable silence.

They just blew it off and made an off hand joke about how at least I'm not Catholic.

I also get a kick at their reactions to my music choices, which, according to them, are bipolar "or schizophrenic or something."

someone not believe evolution isn't on the same level as someone believing such things as like

Scientology, Truthism, or the 2012 threory.

but what I honestly want to say, while it technicaly would fit in this topic, how you stated some people (slightly like me) could take offense to that.
I know a few Scientologists who would take offense at the capricious way you take offense.

Guy in my age group at school who was perfect academically, especially in the sciences.

He took Chemistry, Physics, and Biology all at the same time and was never wrong, save for one technicality that he argued over for days. Ace'd his tests, presentations were flawless, exams were perfect. It seemed he really loved science.

Turns out he's a creationist.

Yeah....weird....
Your point being? This thread is dead and I'm sick of ranting so to defend myself I give you this:

Google Dr Jonathan Sarfati while you're at it. The man can play 12 games of chess simultaneously and win, while blindfolded.

I apologize for my ignorance and if I've offended you in any way. It was not my intention.

But given the circumstances, I was surprised, and apparently not the only one.

Everyone's a close minded fool one way or another I suppose.

I said good afternoon to a Guild mate on WoW (at 12:04 if I remember correctly), to which he told me that it was still morning, and that 13:00 was noon. Thus only after 13:00 it was afternoon.

PS. I did check that he was in the same time zone so it was 12:04 where he was.

Words of wisdom indeed.

No offense taken, and thank you for not launching into a rant about how I'm a deluded and elitist cult member.

No really, I was genuinely surprised.

Imagine my surprise when I bring up D&D to a chorus of "Oh that's only for nerds!".

I had a friend, well more of an associate, who was a pretty cool guy. He was funny, good bass player, very artistic and a nice guy. Then I found out he smoked pot. I could't believe it. It's always the last one you suspect.
Hang on. Artist? Musician? BECAUSE THEY NEVER SMOKE POT!

See me and my friends are kind of like that, but instead of D&D we make fun of the nerds who play warhammer while we roll our D20's

I knew that girl from school, when i got to know her better i realised she was of the religious sort, even talking against evolution and such. Funny twist was, she was a "live enjoying" (slutty is such a bard word) nympho too, that was a surprise .

Two of my coworkers thought based on how quiet and shy I am that I listened to country or pop music. They were surprised when I brought a CD to work that had nothing but heavy metal songs on it.
