Kendrik's mind was labrynthine. It spilled on and on. beneath his rugged exterior was an expanse of knowledge and experience. Knowledge of Raw Magic, which he was currenty using. His own deadly Craft he had created also was present as well as his Pyromancy which functioned off anger and Cryomancy which drew power from sorrow. One part of Kendrik's mind was sealed tight, a repressed memory, a goal he aimed for. This area of his mind was blocked off by the extreme amount of incantaitions, spells and pacts he had knowledge of.

He gritted his teeth as he approached.

"Quite intresting, I must say. I already know what makes you tick, but what are you afraid of?"
Tophat moved to Kendrik's memories, searching for what he feared the most. Its body held a defensive posture, but slowly backed away from Kendrik to buy some time.

Kendrik feared no mortal, no living thing. "In my head are you? Quite a risky move. Maybe a human would not notice your presance but since I know you are in my head I will let you figure it out."

Kendrik however, did fear something, a loss of something more prescious to him than his power, his possesions and his very life.

In his head there was a memory of a number of spells casts many years ago. One of them was to defend from intrusion upon his conciousness. The wards had been tripped and Kendrik's mind began to contract like a fisherman's net to capture his invader.

The Obelisk shimmered with magical power and glowed brightly while unearthly winds billowed around it.

"Oh no, when I act like this most people notice. However, noticing and being able to do anything about it is two very different things. Besides, this is but a sliver of me. I long ago learned how to split my mind."
Indeed, the part of Tophat that was in Kendrik's mind split into many small pieces, moving back to Tophat.
"Quite imressive spell, but spells are stagnant. Unable to adabt like the mind." - Tophat said as it sent small prods at Kendrik's mind, sapping his different senses for but a few moments before his mind corrected the errors Tophat made. Tophat's body began advancing, cautiously.
OoC: Off for a while. Sorry @Ven.

Kendrik swung the ball and chain towards Tophat. "Magic is rigid, raw magic anyway. A spell can only ever accomplish the task it was set and nothing more." While the the ball was travelling through the air he raised his free hand and a black mote of energy appeared in his hand, tendrils of darkness snaked out of it occasionally. "My craft is far more fluid." he said with a grin.

Tophat took a step back to avoid the ball, and followed by darting in and cutting at Kendrik's free hand.
"As is mine, though I am first and foremost a healer."
OoC: Back.

He let the ball and chain go and it sailed off into the distance. He directed the dark flame to intercept the sword. The magic oozed and began to crawl its way up the sword towards its wielder. He raised his right hand and an orb of darkness appeared which seemed to draw energy into it and aimed it at Tophat.

Tophat swung again, this time at Kendrik's right arm in an attempt to sever it. It followed up with punching him in the face with its left hand, complete with half-molten metal.

The blade passed through Kendrik's arm until it hit the bone where it stopped. His magic infused blood oozed from the wound and began to crawl its way up the sword along with the black substance that already coated the blade. He rolled his head when punched, his hat sailing off and he stumbled backwards, taking Tophat with him. The now coated sword began to burn as Kendrik activated his spell. He then discharged the black orb from the palm of his hand towards Tophat's face. He spat out black blood to the side.

"Again, Is that all you got?" He taunted. He glanced at the Obelisk. "Vitae of the Awoken flayed from his form, power of the Emphyrean harvested as tithe...." He had enough power siphoned by the Obelisk now.

Tophat twisted to the side to avoid the blast, then punched at Kendrik's face again and again. It dropped the sword and grabbed Kendrik's throat.
"You are wasting your breath, mage." - It said, before pulling Kendrik's mind inwards. Tophat appeared once more in Kendrik's mindscape. The key difference was that this time Kendrik did as well, leaving him unable to act outside. This was true for Tophat aswell, since this took all of its concentration. Therefore, its grip on Kendrik's throat loosened enough so he wouldn't be suffocated.
OoC: Off for dinner.

Kendrik was neither shocked nor afraid. He folded his arms. "Don't worry about strangling me, this body doesn't require oxygen." He looked around. "What now? Its clear from what I've seen of you that you can't kill me. Gonna try and talk me down?" He put his hands in his pockets. "Keep thinking your this big telepath but I've squashed a telepath who was much greater, older and wiser than you. Tell me how you plan to kill me?"

"I was more thinking of beating you in here. I have not actually attacked you mentally up until this point. And I am quite experienced as a telepath, but I am a healer. I heal minds, breaking them is wrong." - It said, walking back and forth. Then it stopped and looked at Kendrik.
"There is one side effect of healing and dealing with broken people however, and that is that you learn much about what breaks someone. You see every horrible memory, feel each broken bone and each session of torture. I have around half a millenia of experience dealing with such things, and I have stored all those memories. I refuse to break a mind outright, but using memories can make a mind brake on its own. With that in mind, let's begin."

Tophat launched a wave of memories at Kendrik, making him see, hear and feel dozens of betrayals and losses. The feelings of grief, anger and pain were almost overwhelming to Tophat as well, and it had lived with this for many years.

Kendrik closed his eyes. His life had no shortage of pain. More so than many others. He could give up now, to end it. His thoughts turned to his regret and sorrow and he fell to his knees. He was stronger, so much stronger. Ulairon followed him willingly for a reason. Once his sorrow had started building it killed all other empotion him, numbed to everything but sadness. Had he been human his mind would have snapped like a twig, Kendrik was Awoken, elevated above man-kind with knowledge of existence beyond comprehension.

He looked up and a single tear was shed from his eye, before it could even make it down his cheek it froze solid. Kendrik's eyes turned blue and he roze. In his mind he could not manifest magic but the sorrow that welled inside him had alreay overcome the limit he could control. Outside his mind he appeared very differantly. It would not be long before the body that held him froze to death.

"As I said." He sobbed. "Party tricks. Hold me closer and weep with me."

"Not. Likely. I have only just begun."
Tophat launced a second wave of memories, these of people being tortured by those held dear. The horrible pain of loved ones hurting you and the anger of betrayal washed over Kendrik, as Tophat shut down its own emotional center.

Kendrik stumbled back and held his head. Cryomancy relied on sorrow that built up slowy over time, sorrow that would never fade. When a mancer experienced the emotion relevant to an element they control they could use it to colour and refine raw magic with their element. However, if they completely loose themselves in 1 emotion then it is impossible for them to feel anything else for a short time, until they expend the emotional energy. Kendrik felt only sorrow. How could he be angry at what he saw when the world was so sad? When he was so sad? Deep down its all he was, sad over his loss and it was the only thing that kept him fighting.

Tophat saw this trend towards sorrow, and pushed it onward by showing more and more of the horrors and injustices of the universes. Children starving while rich men ate to their hearts content. Old men and women being shunned because of not being useful any more. A woman being forced to watch horrendous upon horrendous event, captured in her own body by a different part of herself who murdered her friends.
"Now you see, what the universe is truly like." - Said Tophat, its voice much less human than before, much more like a robot devoid of emotion.

"I've always known...the curse of the Awoken is to see the truth." Kendrik was apathetic towards human suffering, it did not phase him. He felt sorrow for himself and no-one else, he was truly selfish. "I would inflict suffering upon any number of humans...to get her back." Tophat's physical body would be encased in ice by now and the warmth would be rapidly leaving it.
