Once the duo got back into Solaris' suite, Pix unattached herself and reformed, looking to the books under Solaris' arm. "Alright then... Hopefully learning about how other people's weaponry is made up won't be too difficult to figure out..." She said, rubbing her gooey chin a bit. "But I guess just asking people for curiosity's sake would be too suspicious... But I guess that's something to think about after we figure out if I can even do this stuff. What do I need to do first?"

Almost forgot.

Taking a hold of his axe with both hands as Jerrog charged towards him, Eddie intended to parry the thrust. When Jarrog leapt up, however, Eddie rolled to the side, barely avoiding the blow. While rising back to his full height, Eddie flipped the axe around, and thrust the blunt end of it to Jerrog's side.

"Well, it depends. If I can get on friendly enough terms with someone, I can ask to study their weapons and possible other equipment under the guise of wanting to improve on it. Failing that, you'll have to work by trial and error." Solaris responded as she held out the two books towards Pix. "The first thing to do would be to see if the form of alchemy detailed in these books is compatible with what I know. Given they're from different dimensions, that might not be the case. I don't see it being too large of a setback if it isn't, however." She answered. "Of course, you'll also need to study the ores mentioned herein, and the values to be used in a transmutation circles for each of them."

Pix tilted her head a bit as she sat down, crosslegged and laid the book in her lap. As she sat, a puddle of goo formed under her. The goo girl began reading bit by bit and looked up to Solaris. "Well... what do you mean by 'what you know'? This alchemy stuff's new to me. I've heard of it before but never so much as touched a book about it. ...What values would I... Oh, they're right here..." She asked and mused aloud as she read.

"Well, on my world, I've heard of alchemy in other countries being practiced in a completely different way then we in Amestris do. So, if it's even done differently in different countries, then it's safe to assume this is the case across different dimensions." Solaris explained as she walked towards the table. Picking up a chair, she placed it behind Pix and sat down, leaning forward slightly as she read with Pix. "From what I've seen that woman do, however, the basic principles are still the same, which is why I said I don't seeing it being much of a setback if it is different on a more technical level."

Resting her left elbow on her knee, Solaris rested her chin in the palm of her hand as she read. "I've been wodering... You were wearing a labcoat. So you're a scientist, yes?"

"Alright... so it says here that the basic sequence for a transmutation is to 1: Create the circle using the correct symbols to correspond with the element or combination of elements composing the object you wish to transmute. The 13 commonly used 'elements' are Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Ice, Electricity, Magma, Metal, Light, Dark, Sound, Life, Energy, and Void." Pix read casually. Solaris would see a collection of symbols corresponding with each listed item. "The elemental symbol must be placed in the center of the circle, the other symbols around it display a set of instructions called runes. A circle may only have a set amount of runes in place around the elemental symbol. This amount depends both on how large the circle is and on how advanced the alchemist is. More runes allow finer control over the transmutation. Constructing a circle is the most important part of a transmutation, so practice well."

Pausing from the reading, Pix shifted to allow Solaris an easier time to read. "A scientist? I was... I mainly studied the biology of our species along with other organisms." She paused a bit before nodding. "Guess that makes a lot of sense though... Alchemy seems to cover a lot of... area, so different people doing different things different ways should be common."

As she read along with Pix, Solaris lightly tapped her chin with the index finger of the hand which she rested her chin on. "Hmm... So, right from the start, things are different then the alchemy we use. To begin with, no some of the elements mentioned there don't exist on their own, and no symbol has to be at the center of a circle. This is more depending on what the alchemist wishes to accomplish. The way a circle is constructed in my world is one outer circle to regulate the flow of power, possible inner circles to serve as conduits, geometric shapes, and symboles for elements or trace elements. Depending on the purpose, text may also be written at the edge of the main circles." She explained. "The runes that are to be places at the edge of the circle to serve as instructions here are the same, at least... Although I don't recognise a lot of them."

At Pix's answer to Solaris' question, she nodded. "I see. If that's the case, bio alchemy should suit you well."

Pix nodded a bit as she continued on. "The second step is activation of the circle. The alchemist must place a hand onto the elemental symbol(s) and focus energy into it(them). The flow of energy must be level and even as this will lead to the runes being executed in the correct order. If one forces too much energy into the circle and unevenly, the energy can spread into runes out of order and cause adverse translations to occur, such as a 'creation of' command turning into a 'destruct self' command or perhaps worse things. If one focuses too little, the execution of the runes may end up becoming incomplete. Finding this balance may seem difficult at first but practice will make this step second nature."

She tilted her head a bit. "So the circles in your world are more focused on power control... What kinds of purposes would the edge text assist with? And bio alchemy...? How would that work?"

"The text serve as a way of adding instructions where drawing symbols wouldn't suffice. It is fairly uncommon, however. And bio alchemy would mainly serve to change aspects about the body, or several bodies. The creating of Chimeras, for instance. That would be taking two or more creatures and fusing them together." Solaris explained, then looked back down to the book as Pix read. Once she finished, Solaris humed. "Yet another dissimmilar thing. On my world, the circle only serves to channel energy created by tectonic movement, and the regulation of it is done automatically, provided the circle has been drawn propperly."

"Hmmm.... I've always wanted to splice stuff together... Sounds like a lot of fun..." Pix said, with a growing smile on her face. "These two steps are what are necessary for basic alchemy. For more advanced transmutations or to omit the use of runes, an alchemist can use a mental image to reshape the matter they are working with. This require the utmost of focus when focusing the energy as the circle will translate the thoughts into action so long as the alchemist can stay focused. It may be more mentally taxing, but this can lead to circles being much more versatile and decreasing drawing time by a good amount."

"That doesn't comply with my logic." Vera said. "If one counter exists to the statement, the statement is false. Most does not imply all judges agree, thus the statement is false."

"Oh, you have no idea..." Solaris responded with a smirk of her own. As Pix read the next passage in the book, Solaris stood up, and walked over to the bedside table, retrieving a pen from there while listening to Pix speak. "Hmm. That's not really a thing I recommend. It sounds like it could backfire far too easily. Better safe then sorry." She said as she walked back to Pix.

Pix nodded in response as she continued reading over a bit. "...It might be interesting to try out... but foundations are probably more important... That seems to be it for the basis of transmuatiton... So let's go look at the material reference list..." As she continued paging through, she looked to the doorknob and then to Solaris. "Okay, let me take a crack at this then. How do I draw the circle onto the doorknob.... or probably myself?" Looking to Solaris, she chuckled. "Really now? And here I thought you were just a reporter. Did you do mad science on the side?"
As Kenna looked around for a remote, Carmen looked over toward her, more out of boredom than anything. "Did you lose something, dear?"

"I suggest drawing a universal transmutation circle on yourself. This way, it's less likely to rebound if you get the makeup of a alloy wrong, but it limits the things you can do in turn. Having it on yourself will make things easier in the long run, plus, you I don't have anything with me that can be used to draw on metal." Solaris answered as she held the pen out for Pix to take. "And I didn't, but my father did. Everything I know, I learned from him." She said with a small smile.

Pix smiled as she took the pen and spun in around in her hand. "Noted... I'll try it out then." The goo girl stated as she slowly shifted out a bit of herself to make a makeshift tablet and she slowly began to etch a transmutation circle into it. "So... is all of your family like that? I mean knowing alchemy, but not actually able to do it yourselves?"
Carmen tilted her head a small amount. "I'd doubt that. What better way to try and make us remember our place than force us to watch others fight?"

Malcor nodded. "Allow me to amend the statement. All humans with human interests in beauty find me ugly."

"No." Solaris began, shaking her head lightly, before sitting back down on the chair, crosslegged. "We can preform alchemy, but like I said, only to limited degrees. Our father is the exception to this, being capable of utilising many fields, where I, for example, found I can utilise only two so far. I've chosen to just stop trying to learn other fields, and focus on expanding what I can do. Because, as I'm sure you can imagine, it's extremely grating to invest time into this, only to find it was for nothing."

Vera blinked a bit. "Acknowledged. Is a human covering up one's face common? Does it hold another purpose other than making one not seem 'ugly'?"
Carmen blinked as she noticed Kenna looking away from her. She sighed and seemed to speak to the ceiling as she looked upward, taking another sip of her wine. "If you're worried about me still being cross over that fight, your fears are misplaced. A duel is a duel and I lost. No excuses."
Pix continued her drawing, consulting pages in the book as she continued. "I see... But you may be missing out on things by only focusing on what you already know. You might never know what other kinds of fields are out there, right? Still, I understand the sentiment. ...Maybe looking through more of that lady's books might yield some other surprise."
