Being only a small amount of liquid, Phyros - who was a great deal heavier then he looked, and being in a high-velocity dive - wasn't slowed down upon being hit. And with the short distance he was already from Maya when she tossed the ball, didn't have the time to roll out of the way.
Hitting her full on, the noise of a crack accompanied by a wear tear rang out as Phyros broke through Maya's sternum, and exiting through her back, emerging with his black feathers covered in blood mixed with the purple slag, small gibblets flying off him. The kinetic energy dispersed as Phyros crash into her wouldn't leave Maya with just a hole in her, but largely torn apart.
After using himself to spear his target, Phyros spread his wings, soaring lower over the ground, and flapping to gain altitude again.
Laminus winced as Phyros bored through Maya, letting out a grossed out "gaaaah!" and bringing his hand in front of his eyes, then looking away, back to Krieg and Oliver. Overlooking the scene, it seemed like Oliver was getting the upper hand, which made Laminus decide to lend a hand to Krieg. Bringing the flute to his mouth, Laminus, while strafing further away from Krieg and Oliver, played a four note long sharp melody. The result was that Krieg's hand would be covered in a dim light.
Now, whenever Krieg attacked, his attacks would unleash a flash of sunlight, 2,500 Lumens bright, and strong in UV rays without them passing through the atmosphere, first. This effect wouldn't apply if Krieg attacked with something that was elemental, already.
