Reggie looked at her as she marched out the door and looked over to Wulfstain. "Guess we don't need horses then." he said, jokingly as he finished his food, standing up, and putting on a more serious face.

"Sure, Avandra will be in our favour, but it's doubtful that that will be enough to protect us. Anyone who leaves things up to chance needs to rethink their priorities. Chances are that chance will always be against everyone, whether they know it or not and the gods being in their favour has rarily worked to stop a well-honed sword from cutting into a person's flesh. In the end people will have to stop relying on the gods favour to help them and start relying on themselves and their own will to win." He said more to himself than to anyone else, hence the slightly confusing dialouge.

"Ready to leave?" he said to Wulfstain in a more relaxed tone, getting over the annoyance that he saw with Marisa's statement. Not that he was annoyed with marisa, it was that something in her statement urked him.

"Well, at least the promise of treasure will be enough to motivate and will on some people." He said while walking to the door, not exactly sure whom he was refering to(though he could tell that to a certain extent that it included him), not caring about who heard him. He began following in line with Marisa as she walked on.

Wulfstain tore into his meat a few more times, before stuffing in his pack along with the rest of his equipment. He burped loudly when this was done, particles of food dislodging from the gaps between his teeth and he swallows them instantly. You can see that this dwarf is not one for culture - what War God worshiper would be?

He stood up and straightened up to his full, but not impressive, height. He banged his fists together, causing a loud, thunderous clash of metal against metal. He took a deep breath and focused his glare on Reggie.

"Nothin' wrong with being a dwarf." he said, finally. He let his anger subside, instead focusing on a coming battle, knowing that the War God would rather have him let his rage out upon some unsuspecting evil-doers. He stretched lightly and then began to move towards the door. "Yes, let's go. The War God demands his share."

He neared the door and glared at the patrons nearest, staring at them for a few moments, his eyes running over them as if he was looking for someone. Finally, he steps through the door and takes another deep breath, looking at the surroundings as he shields his eyes from the sun. "Damn thing." he grunted.

Finally, he fell into place behind the female paladin, walking next to Reggie surprisingly quickly. This, as he would put it, was 'protecting the frail'. He realizes that sometimes you need more than another paladin to win battles. And people you drag along should probably stay alive.

This was not going to be a good day for the rest of the world.

Deasil had listened intently to the conversation between the three warriors. The promise of treasure had certainly been tantalizing to the mind of the young Half-ling. the promise of an axe the the head was also their. on the other hand, if the three plate mailed warriors were...unaware of his presence, then all the better for him. Deasil got up, and slowly, and quietly crept his way behind the crew, attempting to staying out of sight.

Mining towns at least make sense, rather than just stumbling through the mountains looking for a bandit lair which you have one in a million chances of even finding.
Yes, let's time skip to the mining towns.
You arrive at a town which is very spartan, very dirty, and very poor. Everyone here does seem to be directly related to mining or miners themselves.
Watch out for the grime.

Sorry for the rather quick info, but Comcast has shut off our internet so I cannot get on, due to us not paying the bill they gave us (apparently I forgot this would happen and wasn?t able to inform you all). Don?t kill off my character please, I?ll be back to resume playing them in a bit, that said I?ll be gone till around the 18th or 19th, in case you wished to know. Do what you will with my character, use them to advance the plot if you need to, just keep them alive till I get back please. See you all in a few weeks. Thank you.

Marisa strides into the miner town with good pace, approaching the nearest person/dust creature she can find and enquires about bandits.

Wulfstain gives the town a look of contempt. "Well... Isn't this just the nicest place I've ever been to. Looks like even the dirt has an extra layer of dirt on top of it," he murmurs to himself as he strides through the dust, slowly covering his armour in thick layers of grime.

"Can't stand this, I really can't," he continues to mutter. He waits for Marisa to deal with the people - he's not a people person. "I don't like the look of this place, boss..." he whispers to her, quietly. His fingers grip the maul tightly, waiting.

Marisa is able to note a pair of miners with their pick axes and shovels, a burly dwarf who seems to be watching her party with an intense eye, and a half drunk half elf, who is well on his way to completely snockered.

'Shake it off, soldier. We're here to help these people. Let's try not to intimidate them; they must be on high guard already', Marisa whispered back to Wulfstain.

She flung her arms wide open and greeted the miners with a wide smile as she walked toward them, 'Salutations, good citizens and workers! We have arrived by the decree of the church to investigate a growing bandit problem in the area. Have you seen any attacks or anything that might hint as to their whereabouts?'

The miners look at each other before one shrugs and points at the dwarf who has been watching since they walked in. "Talk to the foreman. I've heard there's some problems with the caravans, but we don't know the details. The foreman at least deals with the caravans and will know what's going on."

'Ah, thank you men.' Marisa turned to the stern-looking dwarf. As she walked up to him, she contemplated how she was already almost as dirty as the rest of them.
'You the foreman? I'm Marisa. Me and my team are here to investigate the highwayman problem around here. Could you tell me everything you know about it? Anything helps. How they attack, how they look, in what direction they disperse.'

The foreman chuckles grimly.
"If we knew all that, we'd have dealt with them by now. We know they hit anyone who is carrying anything valuable, but generally leave the food alone. We also know they hit the caravans in the woods to the west, the ones you would have come through to get up here. But how they get their information, where they are exactly, or even what weapons they use are beyond us. If they attack, they generally leave no survivors, or any bodies."
He shrugs. "You lookin' to take them on? Hop on a caravan. There's two or three in town at any time. I think all three o' them are in the Hammar Haus." He points to a tavern with an over-sized war hammer hanging from a peg above the door.

'No survivors or bodies..' Marisa frowned as she mumbled to herself.
'Yes, thank you. We intend to do just that. We'll do all in our power to stop this. Fare thee well.'
Marisa paces off to the tavern with a hand on the pommel of her longsword, a sure sign she was getting angry. Pulling the large wooden door open, she's met with a musky smell and the familiar babbling atmosphere of your regular taverna filled with working men. The place wasn't as dirty as the outside, but it wasn't far off. She starts looking for the merchants.

Okay, you still here Kelethor? haven't heard from you in a while.
Just making sure you're participating.

Most of the people here were obviously miners. There was a dragonborn in the back with two other tough looking humans who were armed, and not of this region.
There is a elvish looking fellow who is down in the dumps.
And there is a pair of shifters who glare at everything.
The bartender looks at them curiously.

Taking stock of the people, Marisa decides the elvish bloke she spots looks like the one in most need of protection. A plan started forming in her head as she walked peacefully up to him, exuding, first and foremost, calm.
'Evenin' sir. You look troubled. Are you mayhap one of the merchants lingering in need of protection on the roads from here?'

Wulfstain followed the other carefully closely until she went inside the tavern. He leaned against the front wall of the tavern and instead glared sternly at the foreman. Apparently, he doesn't enjoy the company of other dwarves.

His fingers clasp around the maul, lifting it from his shoulder to his front and resting his hands on the hammer-like end, waiting for either commotion inside to begin or for the Paladin to leave.

He still feels apprehensive about this whole village. Something just doesn't seem quite right to this depth-dweller and he would rather be prepared than sorry.

the elf looks up from his tankard of ale, though he is not drunk and the tankard is full.
"I do, I just have had.. other troubles." he trails off.
"I need about four people. You interested?"
