The Nintendo 3DS .. 'cos up 'til now the games have been shithouse.
Sure, Ocarina of Time just got released, but it's not even a new game, yo.

Should have waited until there's a bunch of good games on it.

Sony PlayStation Portable, Silent Hill Origins (PSP), Manhunt 2 (PSP), F.E.A.R 2 (360), Uncharted 2 (PS3), Bulletstorm (360), Killzone 2 (PS3), Alone In The Dark (360)

I'm sure there's more.

One in recent memory I remember buying then trading back immedietly was Civilization Revolution.

I loved the Civilization series on my laptop but when the game got too busy it chugged it up and the unit stack gameplay got really annoying. But Civ Rev was just way too simplified. Was fun for a playthrough or two (which only takes about 2 hours) but definitely did not get my 60$ worth out of that game.

The Duke Nukem Forever demo for my 360. Not only was it so bad as to be a profound waste of my bandwidth, I still blame it for my 360 red ringing.

Mass efect 2, for some crazy reason I expected an rpg
I LOVED Mass Effect 2...what a story! My complaint is the same as yours, though: not much of an RPG in there, but still fantastic, I think.

Fable 3 and Dragon Age 2

The money spent developing both was probably recouped on my purchase alone
As funny as that is, I liked Dragon Age 2 as well...I must just be a devolved form of the human race

EDIT: OP: I have a bunch of games in my drawer that I haven't beaten yet. I'm currently trying to go through them. Have you ever tried to make your way through three Bethesda RPG's and three Bioware RPG's and a few open world games at once? Yeah, I'm not expecting to beat any of them anytime soon. It isn't that they were a waste of money, it's that I don't have that kind of time on my hands at the moment.
By that token, I'd have to say Timesplitters 2, just because I haven't touched it yet (got it for seven bucks, though)

OT: The biggest waste for me was when I bought a PSP for about 200 dollars then sold it back a month or so later. Not that there was anything wrong with it (even though the selection back then was pretty slim), I just needed the money more than the PSP, so lost about fifty bucks on the resale

Borderlands, cell shaded shit world with nerf guns. Hated it, even co-op was a pain. The classes were under-developed, the enemies generic, the story was crap and the guns looked like plastic toys.

TF2, valve fucked it up with all the new shit and now it's free.
Surely at some point in your childhood your parents said this to you:

"Someone else getting something nice doesn't affect you at all".

Still applies.

I'd probably say Playstation Move, not because of any problem with the actual device but just because none of the games for it at the moment interest me.

Because, I needed to pay for it, not fair. and than it wasn't free we didn't have any or just a few annoying idiots, now we have plenty of them, like XBLA! And the game was fucking perfect than it was fully original, but everything went straight to hell with the updates after spy and sniper update.
As a wise man once said, Seriously, that's the some of the worst pissing and moaning I've read since I stopped frequenting the WoW forums. You want to say the the F2P update brought in a bunch of immature XBLA players yet you come across just as bad. Oh no, you spent $30 a few years ago when a game was new and now that it's supported by an item mall instead of a retail purchase you want to act all butthurt.

Grow the hell up dude.

Dragon Age 2.

I was foaming at the mouth with excitement; but I was given such a sub-par experience. I played start to finish. It wasn't a bad game, just not a good one either. I don't think I can ever think of a game I bought that disappointed me as much as that one. I traded it in for DA:O Ultimate and have been much happier.

Read through the first page and noticed some big name games in there. So happy no one mentioned any Blizzard games. Love Blizzard... even if they are joined with a very greedy and evil company now.

OT: I don't have regrets for gaming purchases. I play them and research them extensively before I shill about big dollars. However, I just bought a copy of Windows 7 recently for $120AU and my friend came over and gave me his spare copy for free that night instead. Biggest... fucking waste... ever.

Siren. I paid $20, and played it twice. Part of me wants to give it another chance all these years later, but then I remember how much I disliked it.

And Splinter Cell: Conviction. It was a pretty good game, but my saves were mysteriously deleted twice. It hasn't happened to another game before or since.

I have to agree.
Not on FF13 being a waste in general but Vanille being annoying up until around the halfway point of the game.
Oh and Sazh was awesome :D

On topic though... Yakuza 4
Got that on recommendation of Amazon's average 4 1/2 star customer rating and the amazing rarity of Yahtzee giving it a positive review.
It was boring, tedious and there were literally 3 times I fought within the first 5 hours of gameplay

Worst part was that I traded it back in and only got 15 dollars for it after paying the full 60 >.>

Final Fantasy X-2. I wanted to bash my head into a wall after playing through that game. Seriously... why all the dancing?!??! That's how you plan to save the world, with a freaking dance concert. Just end my life now... Final Fantasy has died.
